Thank you for such a great step by step process! I was able to repair my son’s Switch and he is over the moon being able to play it again. Thank you for this video!
Wonderful video. I've never done a DIY repair on any electronic device before, but I was able to follow step by step to fix my son's switch. Thank you for your help
Thanks man, loved your "extra" tip/advice you provided in the video. I used to tear down laptops back in the day so it's been a long time for me. Kids "cough"
Yes! Finally it worked out thanx to your video, but it was not that easy for me. First time i opened it up and reassemble all the parts, the switch seemed to be almost dead. Switched it on, Nintendo logo appeared and then nothing more! I opened it up again, connected better the new component to the mother board, cleared the old compound and put it on the new one (swipped this passage the first time) and it worked again... but with no touch screen! Opened it up for a third time and found out the i did't slide the touch screen connector correctly into its slot. That's because it was very hard to insert it correclty in the new card reader component. I struggled a lot to get it in deep in the slot (I had to push the side wings with certain strenght to get it deeper than before), and some other videos helped me out understanding what I was doing wrong, but... Well at last I won! ;-) So don't panic if a first attempt is not succesful. Easily you didn't reconnect well the new part! try again with no fear.
I failed on my first attempt. Card reader and touch screen don’t work. I probably didn’t connect everything strong enough. But it’s so hard to get them to click into place everything is so tiny
Oh my god thank you very much my first problem was that my sd card reader didn’t read my sd and my game reader was not working too so I found your video and was able to fix my game card reader and then when I turned on my switch my sd card reader was working! I think the problem was that my sd card reader was not connected and after doing all the steps I reconnected it 🤩!! Thank you so much for your video
I find this very helpful! I recently accidentally broke my Switch's game card reader by moving one the of metal pieces out of its place. I'm glad to know it only is ganna cost a replacement!
definitely need to replace my game card reader. Just got a new Switch a week ago. I put in a old game and when I ejected it the game pulled the freakin' pins.
***update*** I changed out the game card reader and the games are now playable. Only cost me $24 and took me 10mins to replace it. Glad I found this vid.
Question: So when I did this, everything went fine in the end, except that I didn’t know that you weren’t supposed to separate the orange joy con connector piece from the medal side piece, in which I Disconnected the orange piece from the joy con connector on both sides. Is there any way I can reconnect them again? Because now I can’t use handheld mode, because I can’t figure out how to put them back
If you want. You could watch my video without struggling and no bullshit, just repairing step by step in detail. ua-cam.com/video/GkZ1uB-MvSM/v-deo.html
Hi, great video! However at 9:50 I accidentally tore the black cable getting it out of the tab. 😖 is there any way to buy another cable and replace it?
Hey, I just replaced my game card reader and followed your repair to a T, but now my touch screen stopped working after I reassembled it. Any reason why that might happen?
Unfortunately installing a new card reader did not solve my "The game card could not be read" 100% of the time. If I wedge a thin piece of metal to press the card against the pins, then the game works. I must have bought a faulty card reader from a different vendor.
Didn't work for me....plus I lost touch screen Capabilities...SD card won't read...game cartridge not showing up...ect....I'm just gonna get a new switch....
Same thing happened to me. Card reader was only reading half my games. Tried to do this fix and didn’t work. Now no games work and the touch screen stopped working to. Nintendo wants 100 bucks to fix, realistically send me a refurb
Great vid just old thermal paste should be cleaned off with alcohol and replaced with the new application also that spreading of the thermal paste like that aint great either but other than that thanks for the vid
I get that it's his first time with a Nintendo Switch still the way he was ripping off those joy-cons it's no wonder why they're not broken with how rough he was with sliding them off the switch especially the right side joy-con because at least to me it didn't look like he took it all the way off before he tried to yank that Joy Con off that Switch. By the way no I'm not saying he yanked the joy-cons off the switch but on either side he didn't completely slide those joy cons all the way off because once again at least to me it look like he left them partially on and then yank them off the rest of the way.
Can you please do a video of how to change the Card Slot Cover on the Switch OLED? I’m begging UA-camrs to make a video of how to change it. Because Not One Person uploaded a video.
Thank you sir! You saved me lots of hours that I would've been forced to hang out with my offspring. Lol jk. Seriously thank you, can't wait to beat their a$$es at smash bros now hahaha

Thanks for the helpful video. 👍
Great video, thank you :-) Just ordered a card replacement from ebay today, now I know how to replace it.
how long did it take you to get the part?
@@audioplugg5310 around three weeks.
@@michaelhonormusic dang 😬
@@audioplugg5310 I ordered from China so thats to be expected. I think amazon sell replacement parts for Nintendo Switch with faster delivery.
Much better practice is to clean all old thermo paste and only then put the new one.

Do you need just an Ifixit card reader or can anything else work
Thank you 👍
No problem!
Hi, great video! However at 9:50 I accidentally tore the black cable getting it out of the tab. 😖 is there any way to buy another cable and replace it?
🤣🤣🤣
Where did you bought that screwdriver you used for the bottom and side screws of the switch?
ifixit.com
Hi can you send me a link to get your repair kit or do you know where i can get one
You don't need to take the heatsink out to replace the game card reader. This is an unnecessary step.

Can you do me I need a new card reader
hi if you can put the link where you found the part in your discription
How much do the ifixit things cost
50-60 USD
By chance do you have a link to the screw drivers I will need to buy?
What I use www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Pro-Tech-Toolkit/IF145-307

I would need one to fix it. My daughter's switch is working fine and I don't think she would want me to take it apart for no reason.
@@BazzarRepairs ok
Where didyou order game reader part
Ifixit but you will have to wait for them to get back in stock
You can order it from amazon
Next time actually show the cartridge working,...ive replaced the whole switch 100% plenty of time and at times you do get DOA parts.👍👍
Why didnt you put a game card in the switch and show it working?
I know, I should have.
