Lex listens to metal like she is a kid opening presents on Christmas morning. I wish I could relive my first time hearing all this, but the way people like Lex light up when hearing it is a close second!
And Brad sits there with the same expression every time looking like he's just waiting for it to be over.. Lex needs her own channel.. she'd be at 500k+ subs by now no doubt about it
can't agree with you enough
💯
Yep! I absolutely love Lex!!😁 Brads cool too but two different worlds
Poor Brad, dude is great, really, better than most but, sitting next to lex....
Cliff's bass just doesn't get the credit it deserves in this song, absolute FIRE!!!
That Cliff bass on this song is one reason it's one my favorite Metallica songs.
It's their first album.
Thrash has just became it's own thing at this point.
had the Creeping Death EP and played the cassette til it was stretched, then this album came out and saved me! "Welcome Home..." my jam!
not their first. but close. garage days came prior.
@@proathletesinhsviralvids7993 what? garage days came out in 1987, kill ‘em all came out in 1983
@@Samford_ No shit? That was the only one I didnt have. I always thought it sounded grainy, so i just assumed it was older than Kill em All. thanks for making me hip
@@proathletesinhsviralvids7993 No, this was the first thing they released other than demos and a song on a comp.
Hearing this in 1983 was life changing.
Lex you are absolutely correct early Metallica was more rage and aggressiveness and the modern Metallica is much more put together, maturity in a sense. Kill ‘me All was their first album.
Kill 'em all :)
@@Ezekielepharcelis Original title: Metal up your ass. When James had revealed that the label refused it, Cliff's reaction was "Just fuckin' kill 'em all".
The onslaught of repugnican doom set the tone, ya know? That's topic of a great portion of popularity then!
But isn’t that every metal band except Def Leppard and GWAR? The lead singer for GWAR is like 54 or 55, and he can sing like a true thrasher.
Lex has a smile and energy that is something special. It is certain to come out during any metal reaction. TY again Brad & Lex for all of these Metallica reactions. Can't get enough.
Lol yup...she's definitely found her teen "angst" lol.
She's the reason I subscribed
MORE IS ALL YOU NEED
This is as old as it gets. 1983. The birth of a whole sub genre in metal.
hilarious name
Thrash metal was technically made by Venom, even though they helped more with black metal than they did thrash, but it’s proto-death metal, and thrash metal.
@@RagingInsomniac this is the actual birth
@@hughjoelcock7145 venom did create some cracks in the mold of metal and where the source of the unapologetically evil image but their music was still a Heavy metal/punk/rock’n roll mix, one step ahead from Motörhead who started this whole vibe. Kill’em all on the other hand was the album that broke the mold, defined thrash metal and kickstarted the whole extreme metal arms race.
I'm scared how Lex always is on point about understanding the music. She has real brainpower
88.2 % of guitarist’s, first full Metallica song from start to finish.
Im not naturally gifted at guitar taught myself tabs at 19. When i was 21 i could play 3/4s of 6 metallica songs. Too much for me at the end lol.
I can testify to this as true! lol
So true!
Lmao yup that and harvester of sorrow for me
88.3 now lol
The girl’s got a great ear
4:47 - 5:22 Full Brain Tickle Achievement! Lex is my favorite Metal Head...makes metal fun again!
When Brad isn’t sure about something, I say “The eyes have it.” That’s when he gets the wtf look in his eyes. We all know Brad has a good woman , but let’s also acknowledge that Lex has a good man. He endures this pain for you. 😊
Love love love the fact that Lex could see that evolution in the sound as the band grew. OG Metallica fans did NOT like the fact that they evolved, called them sell outs that went mainstream. I agree with Lex, they grew, refined their craft.
that's what makes a great band have longevity
Lol, I remember getting annoyed when Master came out because they had always said that they didn't want to be on MTV or the radio and then along came Master of Puppets...
Here's someone that appreciates all Metallica like I do. I prefer to hear the idea that they evolved and refined instead of sold out. This band continues to evolve and keep up with the times.
No, we just hated Load and Reload cause they sucked. Borrowed reload from a friend...couldn't GIVE it back, lol.
@@russellwetzel4810 Sure, but the hate started with black album, which was stellar.
Watching Lex discover Metallica is like a mirror of myself at 13yrs old. So awesome to see :)
These guys were teenagers when they wrote these masterpieces. LEX is beautiful and the way she understands the music is why I watch these reviews. Brad seems like he's being tortured during every metal song.
Haha yeah she def loves it, him.. not so much. But mad respect for giving it a chance.
yeah props to Brad. re: Kill'em All their age at the time definitely shows up in trying to be edgy with the material but it's hard to beat raw energy of youth in the performance
Amen
Yeah it really isn't much of his thing, since he is very into more direct and simple beats. Like he liked "For Whom the Bell Tolls" .
He himself said how it's hard for him to get the melody without a very strong beat Infront. In the end I really appreciate he slowly learning what makes people like this type of music through Lex
Yeah I always think the same thing. Lex let’s the music flow through her. Brad looks like he has musical constipation
This is my fav Metallica album. Thank you. Dude this was their first album
Garage Days.
@@marcgaskill7737 Garage Days was the b-side of Creeping Death...
Lex is spot on in her analysis of the bands mood and feel with their music. She absolutely nailed the vibes.
It has always amazed me that they were that talented at 19-20 years old
They were destined to be huge
First song I ever learned as a drummer in a cover band back in the 80s.
First metal song i ever learned on guitar back in 2005...06...😂
OMG, I spent 2,200 dollars on a kit and this song was the First, Last and Only thing I ever learned to play... it was tough, but I had a 8mm video I shot of Lars from behind the kit during this song and would watch it over and over.... if I only still had that tape, think it would be worth something? I know it would be worth something to me, no matter how dim or grainy it was...lol
@@henry247
One of thr first songs I learned on guitar in '89 or so
Lars is still trying to learn it.
@@Nightbreed82 HAHA! Nice.
That's actually one of my favourite songs live when the whole audience yells seek & destroy 😍
💯
Lex you are a true rocker
Love you y’all Brad & Alex
This album was the birth of Thrash music (1983) and the point where Metallica began their 40 + year and currently ongoing journey of taking over the music scene.
You are right to this day they evolved with the times some may not like evolution but since Kill'em all till now I'm a fan and even though I wasn't a fan of St.Anger it helped them change as well as load and reload and I enjoyed them alot my opinion do all Metallica not old or new all and you'll find hundreds of gems
BRAD YOU ARE THE LUCKIEST DUDE EVER!!!!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is one of my all time favorite Metallica songs. I always loved the riffs in this song. And this song just kicks ass.
I'd just like to say that if you're looking for a really sick guitar solo... Ride The Lightning by Metallica. Seriously, that solo is a whole *experience*. As well as both solos in Wherever I May Roam. \m/
Yes! Ride the Lightning is badass... Probably one of my favorite Kirk solos ever! 🤘
Ride the lightning is my choice for best solo
THANK YOU! I say this about as much as I can. My fav Metallica solo for sure.
Agreed. Ride and Dyer's are my two fave solos by kirk
I love how a guitar solo comes and Lex gets so excited! Brad, you should get her a Guitar and Rock Smith for the computer so she can learn to play. I think she'd have a blast. Then she can post as she gets better.
Lex is actually right about the finger muscle comment. As a guitarist when I first began playing I would do things like use individual fingers while driving. Use those fingers one at a time on the steering wheel. The difference that made in my playing ability as a new guitarist was undeniable. Thought it was the coolest thing that Lex picked up on that, But yeah from personal experience as a guitarist I can completely validate her incredible observation . Never was taught that and never discussed it.
If you haven’t already, you should try Fight Fire With Fire. The speed hits like a truck and it’s one of my favorites, Cliff is insane with the bass line on it!
I don’t think that’s something they’d like. At least not Brad
one of their best 😱 one of those rare albums that does NOT have a bad song!
Jump In The Fire is also a worthy opponent.
The maturation from this album to the next is pretty amazing. They got a WHOLE lot better, REALLY freakin fast.
This is first song I heard from Metallica back in 1983. I was on leave after USMC boot camp. Remember, this music was brand new and broke new ground. It was exactly what I needed at the time!!
I've been binge watching these all night. I'm loving her reactions to it all, big metal fan myself so seeing someone appreciate and trying something new Is awesome 🙂
Brad "Salieri" - "Too many high notes" LOL
Chefs kiss…take a bow…perfection
This is old school Metallica the way it should be! This whole album is killer!
40 years old...first album. James still sounds like he's on the tail end of puberty here.
Absolute classic! And my first taste of Metallica back in the day 🤘
Whiplash was mine.
Learning to love metal again. Thanks guys. Haven't felt this in a long time. I need a concert in my life!
I enjoy the range of music you both react to. The 80s being one of my favorite decades. But fan of all music and get a kick out of how new a lot of this is to you guys and getting your take on it. I appreciate the genuine reactions. 🤘🤘
It is interesting how each of you listen to the music. Brad seems to be more into the lyrics, message, etc where as Lex gets into the overall sound and feel of it. Thanks for sharing.
One of my favorites from the past. You don’t know how much I listened to the old albums as a kid. Sometimes I’d fall asleep to them. Love you guys.
Lex and Brad, I just subscribed to your channel tonight, and must have watching 15 of your videos so far. I usually don't jump on my laptop to send a note, but really felt I had to for you guys. Lex, I LOVE, LOVE your energy, your smile and watching you bounce to the music I grew up with (Guns & Roses, Metallica, ACDC in high school, Tool, Perfect Circle and Slipknot in college). It's so great to see how much you are enjoying my eras music. Brad, I am just like you, wanting to know all the lyrics and understand the meaning of all the songs I love. I totally get your stare at the screen, waiting for the next set of lyrics, while Lex has her eyes closed and is bouncing around beside/behind you. The only thing is, you shouldn't stop the video in mid-sentence, or right when the beat drops! I get it though. Keep it up both of you, awesome channel.
This is the reason I suggested this song, I wanted you guys to see their progression to the greatness they showed in their future albums.
The song from my Childhood Friday and Saturday Nights. Have seen Metallica 5 times and all were great shows!
I used to listen to this before our football games when i was in high school pumped us up. Oh and lex. You melt my heart so gorgeous! Love your grin
Hi Brad, Hi Lex . Another brilliant reaction guys. Your analogy on how Metallica evolved is spot on Lex. You certainly are a metal head Lex and your enthusiasm is infectious
You and Brad brighten up my day..
Looking forward to your next reaction. 👍✌️🤘
I love it when you hear cliff burtons bass guitar in between the chorus! You should check him out playing pulling teeth live! Awesome!!
Awesome!!! You guys and the song 🎵
You two need to get to a Metallica concert! I've seen them several times ... First in 1989 and last in 2017 at Busch Stadium ... They have never disappointed.
From their very first album in 1983. James Hetfield was all of 19 when they recorded this album in the studio. This was the album that turned me into a metal head at the tender young age of 12.
This song is one of their staples in concert and is absolutely amazing live.
You changed my whole perspective of Lex, she gets it love you guys
Wow.... watching Lex enjoy this is awesome!
You guys should really listen to Ozzy Osbourne, "I don't Know" from the Randy Rhodes Tribute...performed in 1982 ...Fantastic guitar work from one of the greats and Ozzys vocals.
Definitely need to do some Ozzy. Great channel. Needs some Oz!
Crazy Train!!!
Just love those guitar solo reactions :)
Cliffs bass in this song is so good. From the Wah power chords after each first "Seek and Destroy" to the fillers after each subsequent. Also keeping the speed during the solo
This is indeed their first album. Still a staple of their live set (I've seen them live 7 times). A fan favorite that they demand everyone sing along with. Usually played during the end of the show/encore. Nothing like hearing 20,000 people singing "Seek and Destroy"!
Perfect time line breakdown! This was raw thrash that no one had ever heard before. Around the 90s (Black album) they became masters of their craft.
I have been listening to metal since a very young age and I honestly wish I would’ve gotten into it later so when I heard it for the first time I could really enjoy everything it has to offer
Still have this Chrome tape somewhere. Thank you for the react. Bought this a very long time ago. Not gonna lie it was an acquired taste for me. Master of Puppets, And Justice for All hit the spot. This one took a bit to sink in.
My favorite album, by far. Saw this tour and they were raw, good and hungry. RIP Cliff.
Even starting, their musicality was phenomenal!! It's pretty much thrasher orchestra.
The day that never comes is probably my favorite of there newer stuff.
It has a deep meaning. Watch the music video. You will not be disappointed.
Epic solos.
I miss you guys. You always brought a smile to my face, listening to your reactions. I hope you three are doing well. I hope you didn't let daddy UA-cam screw you over too much. Keep it real Fam! Love ya'll!
That`s where it all started. Great pure metal sound
Excellent choice… still one of my favourite songs.
long intro and old metallica.. Lex.. i love it when you have your hair up like that.. so cool... Brad.. you have a handful to deal with
Hey Brad and Lex! Lex , you give off such positive vibes. I love seeing your reactions. I have an old school thrash request
Death Angel - Bored
Classic!
Kudos to Brad for being respectful and sticking through with these metal reactions, i can see you don't enjoy it as much as Lex does. I was the same with certain genres of music, but now being older, my tastes are more diverse and if something sounds good to me be it whatever genre, i will listen to it.
You need to checkout Metallica “Anesthesia” live in Chicago 1983 - its a bass solo and will blow your mind; ideally followed by Whiplash live from that same show.
Yall are doing a great deed for mankind.... spreading MetallicAwareness.
"Seek and Destroy" was on "Kill 'em All", their 1st album that came out in mid 1983. I turned 8 yo that summer, but I grew up listening to Metallica.
I can remember that this was one of my Mom's favorite songs off Kill. She's passed now but thinkin back, I had a pretty cool mama! Thank you Metallica!! And Brad & Lex as well for helping me relive those memories. 💕🤟
I love the expression on Lex's face on the first licks of the guitar its like best present ever.
Cool tune! Orion by Metallica is one of the most awesome and technical guitar songs songs I have ever heard. It's like a symphony to me... (It's instrumentals only).
You'd love the live version where James sings "Searchin' " to the crowd's response of "Seek and destroy" over and over...
Check out the first lyrics in the song "Scanning the scene in the city tonight / We're looking for you to start up a fight." It's a song about the metal scene of those years. Back then, hair-metal was popular, with dudes who wore makeup and sang about girls. And Metallica was representative of the nascent thrash metal scene, which was much more influenced by hardcore punk, more aggressive, singing about violence, war, apocalypse and other dark stuff. Glamers thought of thrashers as punks and bums. They weren't allowed to play in many of the clubs where hair metal bands played. And thrashers thought glamers were posers and you could really get beat up for spandex pants and big hair. Patches with words like "Kill the poser" were popular at the time. That's what the song is about I think - Metallica felt like conquerors who went to war to destroy their competitors and dominate the metal scene.
it's from their first album ... all time classic ... it would be very interesting for you to react to the first song of their first album to check out how they introduce themselves to the new world of Metal (at the time) ... 'Hit the Lights' has an amazing out-of-this-world guitar solo !!!
My favorite part of this song is at the end there in that last 30 seconds or so when they change it up and drag it out. Freaking bad ass
Yesss my personal favorite Metallica album
Bad day. Watch Lex smile with music. Life boost.🤟🏽
Great song.
Lex you've got a metal soul.🤘
If you haven't already reacted to it give Master of Puppets a go, it's one of the most loved Metallica songs.
The album was supposed to be called Metal Up Your Ass and had a picture of a dagger sticking up out of a toilet but the record company wouldn't allow such a thing in 1983 so they had to settle for this. Kill 'Em All refers to the record execs that squashed their album title. CLASSIC! Thanks for this one.
The first song I loved. MetallicA started here and now are the biggest touring band and best selling band recorded to date. Most ticket sales and album sales beating out stones, beatles, jackson, ozzy, abba, aerosmith... etc.
There is nothing bigger than MetallicA.
On the first couple Metallica albums you can tell that James' voice hasn't changed. He really did sound 20 years old.
I’ve been a Metallica fan since I was 6. My first song I heard was Master of Puppets. My dad and I sat in the truck and listened to the whole song start to fishing in the drive way. Didn’t understand the meaning at first but as time went on I started to understand what they were talking about. Don’t fall to the wrong master. Your either serve the master and hate the other or love the Savior and despise the other. Lex your ambition for metal is growing! You’ve got a lot more songs coming your way. I don’t know if you two have ventured into the realm of Anthrax Prong or Slipnot yet but those 3 bands are very talented as well. I would check them out when you can! Metals heads never die! Once you love metal there’s no going back 😈
Fuel! One my All time favorite, since I was 5 years old!
You 2 made my nite🏝🎧
I've been following your guys' journey into the metal world and its amazing!!! absolutely love lexs, energy, I have a request for a song that i think you guys would like to react to its Valley of the Gourds by the band AHTME, it will not dissapoint. keep on rocking dudes!
Seek and Destroy is one of my all time favorite Metallica songs.Ive sen it so many times live.
Every time I see you guys reacting to metal it makes me think of teenage me playing it for my mom. I'd be sitting there rocking out while my mom would sit there with a look on her face like what the hell is this? 🤣
Ahh, yes, now we're getting into some good o'l stuff! I Luv this stuff, this is my jams. This is what made me pick up a guitar. This whole album is great.
late '80s my junior year. Awesome times!
It's old school. Good Times. Takes me straight back grade school.
I like it when they perform this song live.
Used to cover this in high school. So fun to play.
When I was very little(like two or three years old) I was fascinated by the vert ramp for skateboarding that my neighbor had built in his back yard for his two teenage sons.. They used to let me sit o backnpatio and watch them skate and they would play this whole album on a boom box. Its one of my oldest memories I still retain. They taught me how to skate as I got a little older but their Dad tore it down after they left for college.
i hate it when ppl hate on metallica cause this is the way i view metallica. ITS AWESOME!!!
as a teen this got me hooked !!!
I was so tempted to fast forward to the guitar solo, just to see Lex's face. I knew she was gonna freak on that one!
The first Metallica-song I learned on the guitar as a metal teenager in the eighties. 😎
Their first album!
Lex just REALLY gets it ALL!!
