❤ As a former road crew member and friend of Darrell I still struggled with the death of him for 20 years now but tonight (Oct.21,2024 @6:30 p.m. C.S.T.) you helped me get a little closer to the healing of my pain of his loss. Thank you ma'am.

@terry damn man that is rough. I never met the band, but as a 21yo when it happened, I’d never been so upset about a celebrity death. It’s happened a couple of times since when Robin Williams and then Big Vin passed unexpectedly. Dimebag was an incredibly special guy, and I think he touched more people than he ever realised. RIP 🤘🏼
Right? I had to watch some kid on a reaction video the other day say, "Who is Peter Frampton". Hope that kid caught the Rock HoF ceremony the other night. LOL
Ok, now you need to listen to the album version so you get the full experience of this song. The intro is so beautiful, people always make the mistake of reacting to the official video and chop off an amazing part of the song. Another Pantera song that would be interesting for you to analyze is Hollow, a really sad song that reflects on the grief of losing someone without them even being actually dead.
I was 18 when my dad died. He was an alchoholic and career felon but i always felt i could fix him. He died fresh out of prison and 20 mins from my house in a car accident. I jammed this song as loud as i could many times to help me through. 38 years later i still cry listening to it, being stripped of the chance to help him. Looking back, there was no helping him, but i would have rather had the chance... Thank you for this one!
Oh man.......Dimebag, oh how i miss Dimebad, and Vinnie, may they rest and rock in peace, never got to see them live, Dimebag the greatest, so much light, so much soul, so much feel
got to see them on the far beyond driven tour I will never get over Dimebag. He was so special to me. One of my favorite human beings That Ever Walked the Earth. I love Vinny too
What made it even more tragic is that it was done in front his brother, Vinnie, the drummer. Nickelback wrote a song about it called "Side of a Bullet", where they used an unreleased (at the time) solo of Dimebag Darrell in the song. Very cool tribute to DD & Pantera.
The song Betrayed, By Avenged Sevenfold is a song that was written for the tragic death also.😊😊😊 almost forgot Phil did some vocals on it also. They are huge Pantera fans. Just a FYI 😊😊😊
I'm from Columbus Ohio, and frequented the Alrosa VIlla club for many years. Sadly I was there when DImebag was killed along with several other innocents in December of 2004. It's taken 20 years for some of the PTSD to surface of this event. I locked it away. I've lived a hard life and seen other violence of this sort that bothered me more because I lost loved ones to it. RIP Dimebag and all the others that died, and the ones who have to live with the memory of this tragedy.
That's the one song of theirs I can't make it through without breaking down. It's almost word for word what happened to my best friend Josh. Really only difference was I was close with his father. His mother abandoned him when he was 2. He had a brain aneurysm at age 21. Left him a vegetable for 20 years before he passed
The day Dimebag died, I went into my room numb from what I had watched on tv and put on Vulgar Display. I had the cd booklet out and was reading along with the lyrics and made it to Hollow and I absolutely lost it. With the pain of his death only hours old, hearing the lyrics completely destroyed me and took on a whole new meaning. It took many years for me to hear that song and not cry on the spot. I now listen loudly and with vigor knowing that Dime's legacy and musical talents will not die so long as someone listens to his music. Long Live Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul.
Every time I hear this song I think about my mother and how I'll feel when that day finally comes. I havent cried yet when a loved one passes. Not because I think I have to be strong but because I know death is just a part of life. But when my mother passes? I know I'll cry. Hearing this song makes me choke up.
Pantera is my favorite band, so please more pantera I’d love to hear your perspective on them because I believe Phil uses his lyrics as a form of catharsis rather than trying to influence bad choices.
If we’re doing Pantera now I totally recommend doing Walk, This Love, I’m Broken, Floods, or Suicide Note Pt 1 and 2. Those are the first songs that come mind that can have a great discussion about mental health
Hell Yeah... (wait.. that might be out of context, lol). But "This Love" would be a homerun for this channel. They have a lot of great songs, but I think that's the one for this audience. "Walk" would be a close runner-up. I know those are their "radio songs" and maybe a bit over-played relative to the rest of their catalogue, but those songs have the right message.

I watch any Pantera related video that comes across my feed. They NEVER get old. Been to Dimes grave a couple years after he died, and again after Vinnie died, the latter with my best friend who passed a few months later. That was the last time we were able to really hangout, was going there and Pantera was at the top of both of our all-time favorite list, for various particular reasons. Thanks for the vid!
While I support Cemetery Gates as the intro song for new Pantera listeners, Hollow was the song that resonates with me as I watched my 20 yr old friend waste away before me from cancer.

I've listened to Pantera but this was my first time hearing this song. I was okay, until the guitar solo. Something about that reminded me of my youth and I couldn't deal with grief because I lost both parents at 13. That guitar solo was the anology of all the ways I acted out in protest of my reality. Right when it hit I felt like a kid running away again and it broke me.
I was living in Grove City and was very disappointed that I didn't have a way to get to the show. You can imagine the shock of seeing the next day's Columbus Dispatch. Later, a fundraiser was held down the street for Nathan Bray, which I was able to attend. When I moved to Texas in 2012, I visited Dime's gravesite. It still seems very surreal that I could have been at the club that night. You never hear from any of the traumatized fans who were.
❤ girl you have been missing out 😅 pantera has so many amazing songs I know a lot of piceses like myself love a lot of of panteras music 🎶 🎵 ♥ thank you for your time 😊
"The guitar is like another voice" is the best way to describe how Dimebag Darrell played guitar. He was the best at what he did! Also, Phil Anselmo's vocals are insane on this entire album. From the aggressive metal vocals, to beautiful cleans, to Rob Halford-style highs. "Cowboys from Hell" is such a landmark album.
First time i heard this song i was sitting my neighbour's truck listening to music and something in this song just clicked with me and now im a massive fan of Pantera, Dime just had something special with his guitar skills that not many people can replicate, and i look up to him a lot for what he's done for us metalheads(ive cried listening to his solos on occasion). My aunt's making my birthday cake this year his Dean From Hell:)
being in cali , its a farce you lived your life until this point without hearing pantera. im glad you picked this song though. its one of the best considering youre a therapist... study this song and learn from this. some people cant grieve cuz we have to be strong. we have to be the rock .
LPC in Colorado, just found your channel and love it! Pantera and other metal bands were very formative bands for recognizing other people had the same thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
If you think this one hits the feels listen to Hollow next...the breakdown in the 2nd half is one of their best heavy spots & will give you the best idea of how heavy they can go...countless other songs to listen to as well after that
Please listen and feel the song "HOLLOW" by the Pantera... it moved and changed my soul when I first heard it... it was a major step up from this song like, chapter two second round of the same pain and attempted strength "I can't show it but this is a place of grief"
Agreed. From a therapist's perspective, she'll probably get more from a song like that than from maybe something like Walk, though they're all great in their own right.
Dime was a real one. Rest in Power, brother. As far as Pantera goes, definitely not my favorite band ( I do like them ), but there would be no way to overstate the impact they had on the metal scene. At least the American metal scene at any rate. Cowboys From Hell dropped and lit a flame under millions of people. Upcoming musicians, well established bands and artists, and, of course, the fans. American metal was hitting a kind of slump at the time and these guys really breathed new life into the scene. It was also nice that the South got some shine outside of Skynyrd. Absolute legends.
I know I’ve posted before but I truly think that Citizen Soldier would be a perfect reaction for you. Therapist turned singer and has very powerful and heartfelt lyrics
Pantera from the heart of Dallas, Texas, great band! Never seen them live but I did see Vinny and Dime at a Type O Negative concert just hanging out, great guys, miss them dearly.
Most amazing band ever, my first time seeing Cowboys from Hell on Headbangers ball I will never forget ever, I called all my friends and said this band is going to be the biggest band ever and I was right
Instant "Stank Face" every time that opening riff hits. Story of the song was something like a friend of the band's girlfriend took her life after struggling with depression. After she passed, the friend also took his life because he couldn't live without her. Screams and guitar at the end are like angry, mournful wailing.
Dimebag is often credited as one of the greatest metal guitarists ever and highly influential, certainly check out some more Pantera. Their 90’s sound escalated in groove + aggression as well
I grew up with them in the DFW music scene. So many drunken memories, good ones, at the basement and at Joes Garage. Have the tribute graphic of him covering half my back. RIP Dime your legacy will live forever.
This song is more than a memory of the late great DimeBag, and his brother Vinnie Paul. It is truly inspirational, about how great music can touch the soul, and have a way to heal still gaping wounds of life. Agreed to other posters: Pantera Hollow, is epic. Just use the Dimebag Tribute version, as there is no video for this EPIC Song. I still miss Dime after all these years
I been a die hard pantera fan for over 20 years, and my mom was a huge fan of pantera as well. Lately it has been hard listening to this song in particular cause it was my mom's favorite song and she passed away 7 years ago.
So, in case you haven't picked up in the rest of the comments, the story of Pantera isn't just about a band that was universally loved and respected by the metal community, but one who's story traumatized the metal community.
Just wanted to stop in and saw what you do is amazing. Pantera hits home for me as does a lot of other music. RIP DBD. Right when it hit I felt like a kid running away again and it broke me.
Love this song , sounds so clean.. and that guitar riffs and solos are amazing R.I.P dimebag
❤ girl you have been missing out 😅 pantera has so many amazing songs I know a lot of piceses like myself love a lot of of panteras music 🎶 🎵 ♥ thank you for your time 😊
Getcha Pull, nice to see Pantera on the channel 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Best reaction (breakdown) to this song ever! Keep being a positive ray of sunshine ! 🤘🏼greatest Rock band ever
Hollow by Pantera ID another good one
"The guitar is like another voice" is the best way to describe how Dimebag Darrell played guitar. He was the best at what he did!
Also, Phil Anselmo's vocals are insane on this entire album. From the aggressive metal vocals, to beautiful cleans, to Rob Halford-style highs. "Cowboys from Hell" is such a landmark album.
Cemetery Gates is probably my favourite song from Cowboys From Hell
Almost 20 years… and even though I never met them or got to see them live, it still freaking hurts. Dime poured his soul into that guitar…
MORE PANTERA!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The best guitarist I've ever seen. I still grieve his death. And that's a terrible way to go in front of your brother on the stage
This Love is definitely a must do.
LPC in Colorado, just found your channel and love it! Pantera and other metal bands were very formative bands for recognizing other people had the same thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
What my grandma back and that song brings out the tears
If you think this one hits the feels listen to Hollow next...the breakdown in the 2nd half is one of their best heavy spots & will give you the best idea of how heavy they can go...countless other songs to listen to as well after that
If you have not heard "How can I laugh tomorrow if I cannot even smile today" By Suicidal Tendencies. I swear this song has saved my life
MORE PANTERA YES YES YES YES
Been listening to Pantera for 20 years, lucky enough to see them live but I dont often cry during a listen. 😢
That was a perfect analogy of this song that I never thought of.
PANTERA IS MY FAVORITE BAND. GOD I MISS THE ABBOTT BROTHERS . RIP BROTHERS
They are easily top three in metal. You are in for a treat with this band. They are awesome
Best reaction for this song ive ever seen! Amazing job!!!
Please listen and feel the song "HOLLOW" by the Pantera... it moved and changed my soul when I first heard it... it was a major step up from this song like, chapter two second round of the same pain and attempted strength
"I can't show it but this is a place of grief"
I really dig your honest reactions!! Suggesting Motionless in White, Thoughts and Prayers!! You won't regret it! Keep em coming!
If "Im Broken" isn't on the listen too list there is no hope for humaity!.
Ok that was a bit dramatic, but it is worth an earful.
It would also be a great band for you and your best friend therapist to react to
Pantera from the heart of Dallas, Texas, great band! Never seen them live but I did see Vinny and Dime at a Type O Negative concert just hanging out, great guys, miss them dearly.
Most amazing band ever, my first time seeing Cowboys from Hell on Headbangers ball I will never forget ever, I called all my friends and said this band is going to be the biggest band ever and I was right
I highly recommend "S*icide Note pt 1 + 2" especially because of the subject matter, lyrics, feel and performance. 💚
Instant "Stank Face" every time that opening riff hits. Story of the song was something like a friend of the band's girlfriend took her life after struggling with depression. After she passed, the friend also took his life because he couldn't live without her. Screams and guitar at the end are like angry, mournful wailing.
Hollow and This Love are such good songs for a "psycologic" analysis, must be the next ones
Dimebag is often credited as one of the greatest metal guitarists ever and highly influential, certainly check out some more Pantera. Their 90’s sound escalated in groove + aggression as well
Rest in paradise Dime and Vinnie!!! Domination live in Moscow
That was the BEST explanation of this song!❤
I grew up with them in the DFW music scene. So many drunken memories, good ones, at the basement and at Joes Garage. Have the tribute graphic of him covering half my back. RIP Dime your legacy will live forever.
Pantera is one of my favorite bands in metal. And I have been listening for 35 years now. God I am old lol.
I still miss Dime after all these years
The guitar is so good, that would be dimebag one of the greatest to ever do it.
I cry everytime someones first time hearing this song, and pantera as a whole, and its this super edited short version :(
I been a die hard pantera fan for over 20 years, and my mom was a huge fan of pantera as well. Lately it has been hard listening to this song in particular cause it was my mom's favorite song and she passed away 7 years ago.
Phil is the bomb diggidy for sure, RIP Dime, much love for this band!
So, in case you haven't picked up in the rest of the comments, the story of Pantera isn't just about a band that was universally loved and respected by the metal community, but one who's story traumatized the metal community.
Pantera in the mid-90s was the Pinnacle of heavy metal. Theyre the best
Just wanted to stop in and saw what you do is amazing. Pantera hits home for me as does a lot of other music. RIP DBD. Korn hits home for me as well, with songs like Narcissist Cannibal and Thoughtless, I think you would really enjoy these two and they both fit in to current issues with that we see younger folks struggle with today.
Absolutely best concerts I've ever been to
Just wanted to say you are by far the best Psychological reaction creator hands down. I initially ran into your channel when you were breaking down Tool and it seems like every time I run across a video from you it is always a break down on bands that are exceptionally talented musicians and lyrics that are layered and deep love your Analysis on music and I love that you love the music very authentic you’re awesome at this keep on shining my friend
Hearing this song for the first time with it's beautiful intro hits different
