I'm 71 Lafayette is THEE only one I went to because that's where my parents took me to. Was not until 2012 I tried American because my new wife wanted to see the difference. I felt so outta place in that store. Unfortunately she did not like either of them. Due to the fact she's from Fairmont WV. They have their own version of it called Yann's dogs. I love those myself. But again they're 2 different species altogether. So here's to Yann's and Lafayette. Thank you
I typically get mine with just mustard so I think they both taste equally great. That being said, Coney Island hot dogs do have that great snappy fresh texture to them so these places are top notch for me to get a couple of dogs with fries and a pop. American has more space to sit but Lafayette really puts on more of a show if the main guy is cooking at the time so I give a slight edge to Lafayette.
I went to THE Nathans on Coney island and I was absolutely appalled that their ''chili dog'' had GD beans in the chili. Love her explanation of coney island the place vs the food. Oh and I would be in Lafayette between these two
Both are great chili coneys, is like Cincinnati chili near me in N.Kentucky, NO KETCHUP on a hot dog !, that is for children 5 yrs old & under, should offer feather shredded mild cheddar cheese on the coneys like Cinti as it is delicious
God, thank you for deliverance from sin and error and mistakes and crimes and unjust punishment. God, thank you for comfort and relief and for smiles and for laughter and for great moments and excitement and adventure In Jesus mighty name. I pray for youthful makeovers and for great hair days In Jesus mighty name. Past, present and future. Hallelujah!!! Amen 🙏 🤍
Lafayette best Chili. American best dogs. I have one coney at Lafayette then go next door to American for the second. Done it that way since a boy. 71 now.
@@UTRMichigan2010 Appreciate the tip. I like to try things as they're originally meant to be and wondered if adding cheese was an original popular option. I love chilli cheese dogs but recognize that a Coney Dog is something different. I'd love to get down to Detroit, do the Hitsville USA tour, do some record shopping and have a Coney (or two) one day. Quite a trek from Northern Ontario though and low Canadian dollar isn't helping.
This man at Lafayette played you well. They are not the family-owned business they once were. I prefer they're coney snap over American's, but at the end of the day, that establishment is no longer family owned and operated
@@robertsfugatenah man i saw roaches crawling around the dining table, went downstairs to use the restroom and roaches were everywhere, until they clean shit up not eating there again.
Always have been and always will be a Lafayette guy

I was in Detroit last weekend and I enjoyed both Coney Island!
Both are AWESOME and different!!!!
Just hit Lafayette last night. 13 napkins for 3 coney dogs and fries ❤️❤️❤️
Lafayette #1
Lafayette all the way!!
Although I got them without onions, Lafayette’s hand down the better one. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

What? Why here?
Eating a hot dog with a fork should be a crime
Not when you order them heavy everything.
If the load ratio of chili:onion:mustard is to correct proportions, it’s impossible to pick that coney up.
@@UTRMichigan2010I’m not trying to pile on, but I agree with the OP. After all, food is more fun when you’re making a mess!
If you would’ve put ketchup on that coney!!! 😮

Is it OK to put shredded cheddar on a Coney Dog?
For my taste, I say no. I’m not a fan of adding cheese to an already powerful flavor party.

Layfayette’s is for Detroiters and American is for tourists.

DETROIT CONEY IS THE BEST
LAFAYETTE IS #_ 1
AMERICAN. IS#_2
IVE HAD THEM BOTH ON THE SAME DAY MANY TIMES TO COMPARE
Ok can't watch a guy do hot dog reviews and eat it with a knife and fork.
Lafayette was my favorite until the rodents shut its doors
The rat are part of the joy
With that logic every restaurant in Detroit should be avoided.
Lafayette is the best they are number one but the history is American Coney Island was there first
Don’t cut the dog with a fork for goodness sake
The whole ketchup thing is such bs its a hotdog not five star Michelin star dining
Lafayette was caught keeping their trash in the basement which attracted rodents into the restaurant. Choose wisely.
Propaganda
@@robertsfugateLOL this is awesome. Really is the biggest food rivalry

As a detroit resident I wouldn't go to either one. The good food is In the hood
What places do you recommend?
Both good but I actually prefer American.
I ain’t ever going into American you would catch me dead in American
American is better trust me.
Don't let personality fool you.
Ew Lafayette best
100% Lafayette
