I must defend the screws. Unlike AP, these screws are the screw heads. On AP watches they are the obviously non rotating in their octagonal holes and are actually the underside, the real screws screw in from underneath into this endpiece. At this Cartier, the screws are functional. And aligning them is next to impossible as they will wear a tiny bit. Check your Rolex watches, is your crown on the crown aligned when screwed in? Not even Rolex with all their production technology prowess even tries to align the CROWN on their watches 😀
Well said. But if I can be pedantic, they did with the PM skydweller. Although they didn’t bother carrying that crown type over to the steel model. It either was too finicky or they realised people doing really care.
@@patrickdaly5988 I didn’t know that. Definitively will check that out - on my two tone SkyDweller it’s definitively not aligned 😃 but then it’s not full PM
@@alinionita2614 Untrue - it does not ALWAYS align - mine do not and they are current Seamaster Professional Diver 300m ceramic Sedna Gold/Steel....and another SMP300c - you are lucky that yours align
Well, the white gold screws on the case of the Royal Oak are just for the looks/style. That’s why they are perfectly aligned. The ones one the caseback are not aligned because they fix the case together.
I just bought the same with blue dial. I purchased at Cartier in Beverly Hills so I got the entire Cartier experience. More collectors should grab these! Enjoy my friend!
I recently picked up the Santos Large, white/silver dial with blue bezel. I love it! Bought it at a Cartier AD in Hoboken, NJ. Experience was second to none…and also received some Cartier swag courtesy of the AD. I haven’t taken the Santos off my wrist since i bought it 3 weeks ago. Get one…you wont be disappointed!
Got to be honest, these Cartier boxes are really amazing and distinctive. About the screws, these tho are functional and swap the bezel pretty quick, the AP arent, they unscrew from the case back, its a bolt and nut system.
Before the first watch (Omega) worn on the moon, there was the first watch (Breitling) worn in Space. But before that, there was the first wrist watch worn in an airplane and that was a Cartier Santos designed by Louis Cartier for Brazilian inventor Alberto Santos-Dumont.⌚️✨
I bought this one thinking I’ll eventually hate it. Literally it became my favorite and many people keep asking me about it. The only con I’ve noticed it get scratched on the shiny part easily. This is also perfect for those who get board quickly with their watch, you can buy a strap occasionally and change it yourself.
I own the Santos in the medium size and absolutely LOVE it! The fit & finishing is simply amazing. Plus, mine is dead-on accurate. Literally +/- 0 seconds per day. It’s extremely comfortable on the wrist. Honestly, with all my collection, I think if I were forced to scale back to just one watch, the Santos would be the keeper
The unaligned Cartier screws are absolutely iconic to the brand. I think most, if not all Cartier ads and commercials show the screws being unaligned, and it's one of the things I always found cool about the watches.
Taking the history into account, it sits perfectly in your collection. The fit on your wrist is good. As you mentioned in the previous video the adjustment of the bracelet is very easy. Does the system at the case lugs feel sturdy? I'd be hesitant knowing it can be taken off that easily. Couldn't it pop off due to certain movement?
I've had the same watch for about 6 months so I can speak from experience. The quick switch system is amazing and there's absolutely no chance of the bracelet popping off during daily wear or while handling the watch. To remove the bracelet from the lugs you need a really deliberate motion with the tip of your finger to push down the spring loaded button which is weighted perfectly. I hope that helps!
Congrats on your signature time piece. If you do a little internet research you would find that the royal oak doesn't actually use screws, they're bolts with screwed on nuts holding them down from the back and they don't line up on the back. To have the screws line up would be a technical marvel.
Congrats on the new purchase! It’s a beautiful timepiece and it looks great on your wrist! It’s an iconic design and it certainly has its place in the history of horology. I am glad you decided to have it in your collection!
Like you, I have always liked the Cartier Santos because of the style and look of the Model. I never purchased it since I thought it was more of a fashion watch. However, after learning about the history of the Cartier Santos Dumont this past weekend, I literally ran to my nearest Cartier Boutique and picked it up. I am loving it! I wanted to learn more about the watch, and of course, saw your video which I appreciated very much. Thank you! 🙏
I bought the santos early this year too. I went for the grey dial as I already owned a white dial Tank. FYI, the grey and black dial santos has lumed hands and roman indexes, pretty cool. Enjoy the watch!
Congrats my friend… a beautiful timepiece! I own the same watch in blue and I absolutely love it! I also own a Tank Solo XL and I appreciate the timeless beauty of the white dial as well.
Wow this is particularly special in my opinion. I just added a Cartier Tank Must into my collection. And to see you also took in a Cartier as well is special. Cartier watches in my opinion has been really stepping up in the last decade. They're definitely the watch brand to keep watch going forward. Amazing video thanks for sharing. Maybe you could be the only youtuber that can showcase some watches in the Cartier Prive collection. I'd love to see them. Cheers!
I bought my 1st Santos 2 months ago....a skeleton!! I got a bottle of cartier Champagne to take home and the full high end service. I bought it at the Wynn......Amazing watch and ill be back for another...or two😁😁
The royal oak uses bolts, not screws, that's why they are aligned on the topside, the screws themselves aren't aligned, just hidden on the back of the watch. It's not a lack of precision here, it's just how it is. Beautiful watch nonetheless.
I think screw alignment would take it to the next level. That's a very difficult task but posible. It will be interesting to see how you can keep them in same alignment for years and years
Got my Santos large a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful machine.. so far it's been +.60 sec! Love it on the brown leather strap, I feel it's much more comfortable and looks amazing. It has such a tool watch look on the leather. Enjoy!
Classy watch for a classy guy 😎. Absolutely, it deserves a place in your collection. And I definitely feel you when you mentioned the screw alignment 😉.
Just got one from Cartier. I was told they no longer include the watch instructions and care booklet. No more certificate in paper format. It has been like that for a year. I miss the old days:(
Looks amazing on wrist. Tried on many luxury watches on my honeymoon in Spain and both my wife and I liked the Santos. Her daily is a small citizen homage to the tank so the santos she was drawn to. I would have loved to get a matching set but didn't have the something like 10K euros or so. Oh well maybe one day. That said for your collection I like the fact you're diversifying, it makes for interesting content.
im addicted to watches aswell but my budget is far from even affording one of your watches, i appreciate that you share your collection, a very beautiful one.
Well that was a nice start to the day. After seeing your post, I'll certainly give Cartier another look. Beautiful watch, sits well on your wrist and is certainly very different to what we've come to expect from you. However, could I live with one? My "watch OCD" would drive me nuts every time I look at the screw heads...
Guys I want to buy my first santos too but was wondering if I should go to the Boutique or just a near by authorized dealer. Not sure what to do, please help !
I have the medium size in two tone and I love it. I particularly like the way in which it hugs my wrist...and just stays there. I have a navy blue alligator strap & deployment clasp too which transforms the 'look' to something even more sophisticated. The strap makes the watch lighter to wear and as with the steel strap the watch sits perfectly. The only difficulty is choosing which one to wear. Season greetings to you!
An engineer here, I think the issue with the screw slots is that you’d need INSANE dimensional tolerancing for both the screws and case to achieve alignment. Like a micron here and there would throw off screw slot alignment. Great watch, though!
very good! I'm thinking about buying the same watch with they grey dial and rubber strap as the second strap that comes with the watch. Got a discount on it?
Nice watch and nice review. I also dont get the justification on why the screws are not aligned. I dont see aesthetic purposes of it not being aligned other than deliberate rustic, rugged and spottiness they are trying to exude maybe.
Very beautiful! I'm between this, the Bvlgari octo solotempo 41mm and the omega constellation 39mm.. which do you think is the better design and watch overall?
First thing first, thank you another great content! Santos was overdue in your collection as you said you have Rolex/AP/PP. Santos large fits so well I too picked up Santos in large (tried both medium and large but went with large) earlier this week!! Congrats! Must see in person to appreciate.
Congratulations on the new watch. I’m no expert but I don’t think it’s ocd to want the screws to look uniform when you consider how lovely the overall watch is especially the wonderful crown. I think this would be a deal breaker for me.
Hi mate. I’ve see you don’t use your Peli case 1400 anymore, at least not on your videos. If I may ask is there any particular reason why? I am thinking on buying one, but wonder if they may leave micro scratches on highly polished surfaces on the watch. Do you think that’s possible?
I love cartier and the Santos in large. I've also been thinking about getting one. The story behind makes it so much more interesting also beautiful watch.

The omega crown always aligns. I have a seamaster and it’s always aligned.

On my explorer it is aligned.
Well, the white gold screws on the case of the Royal Oak are just for the looks/style. That’s why they are perfectly aligned. The ones one the caseback are not aligned because they fix the case together.
The Royal Oak bezel screws are only decorative, since hexagonal screws would not be able to properly spin and secure something in place.
I just bought the same with blue dial. I purchased at Cartier in Beverly Hills so I got the entire Cartier experience. More collectors should grab these! Enjoy my friend!
Blue dial, very nice !

what's your wrist size?

Lol at the beginning was like getting a takeaway, getting everything out of the bag, you got your rice your naan your starter etc etc etc
How did I know it was going to a Santos before even watching the video. The hype is real.
Congratulations!!! Great choice! I recently got this same watch in Medium and I absolutely love it!!!

This technical and a esthetic a sensational watch. Great purchase and thanks for the vid.
Medium is the correct size for this watch. Much more elegant indeed.
Only buy medium if you can afford the large. I have the large. Much better
