Great video and congrats on the Panerai. I have this exact same model purchased in 2010 and it is something I enjoy wearing to this day and it’s like no other piece in my collection. Wear it well and enjoy !

You are right about the blue sub second hand, I also prefer the steel subsecond hand. The 312 looks a lot more "tooly" than the 1312.
But the 1312 comes in two variations - all 1312s from 2020 and earlier have clear casebacks. So you can see the P.9010 with the full balance bridge on these models 🙂

GREAT addition to your collection...! I too love my Pam 514 in 47mm because I have thick wrists but for me it's a great size and looks amazing.

The best Panerai is a used Panerai. As a Panerai owner, you really dont need more than 1. Wear in good health.

Great choice! I bought a 312 a couple of months ago as well. I have two other Luminor 44mm so obviously I'm a fan!
I think it works for you size-wise. Mine does not wear as thick as I thought it would. My 1316 is much slimmer, but honestly, when on wrist, I don't feel that much difference between the two. I have some 47mm in the collection as well. Those are a little less versatile and I typically only strap those on when I'm in the mood for a "big watch day". Shorts and a polo shirt, jeans and a casual shirt, 312 should be right at home.
And yes, I debated the 1312. The pop of color is nice, but I feel it is something that one would tire of. I did pull the trigger on a 524 last year, and I think the blue chrono central seconds hand works much better.
Great piece. I also own the PAM0312 and it gets its fair share of wrist time (7.75inch wrist). I love the 1950s brushed case, so iconic.

Yes, it's large, but not too much. It is small enough to look perfect on your wrist. Very nice newcomer to your collection
Good to see you adding a Panerai to the collection….it’s strange how we all have different opinions on sizing when we come to our passion of watches. I have reasonable sized wrists at 7 1/4 inches but prefer 36mm watches. Although I do have larger sports models up to 41 and 43mm. If I was to have a joke with you I’d say it looks like a Grandfather clock on your wrist but I actually think it looks ‘kick ass’ on you! Ps I’m not American but have used a great term I’ve borrowed from our US brothers.
As soon as you said you went for a discontinued model, I knew it is going to be 312. I have this watch and it has everything which represents Panerai for me (Reg TM, crown guard, sandwich, seconds subdial). This watch has definitely the most wrist time from my collection. It suits you well, enjoy!

Thanks for the vid.its a great looking piece. I bought the Same watch but in a titan Case last year. Yes, it's big, but much netter to wear than I thought before. A PAM should be in every collection.
Congrats and a nice choice! I was in the exact some boat. Between the 312 and 1392. However, I do like the blue, but agree that the steel seconds hand does look a bit cleaner. I was not however able to pull off the 44mm so went with the 1392 in the end. Do miss the clear case back, but dont care that much for that anyways. Furthermore, Panerai is a dangerous game when it comes to straps! The 44mm models have even more strap choices then the 42mm. I already have almost 10 straps! haha. I think the watch fits yo perfectly, even though its big, but a great summer watch for when you have short sleeves! Only thing I really want for mine is the Deployment Clasp, feels like I am going to drop the watch every time i put it on...
Panerais wear big. That’s the nature of the beast. So yes, it fits well. No lug overhang either. I have a 6.5” wrist so I have a 42mm 1392 coming. Pa

Beautiful watch, congratulations once again, this is a holiday watch, to be worn doing water sports and on the beach but I do not think you will wear too much in the U.K I had a Pam 111 I did really enjoy but it was so bulky with shirts jackets etc so you are correct.

I think the watch is great. I always hear people going on about IWC Big Pilot and certain PAM being to big. I think they are great as additions to a watch collections. I love it. Congrats!
It's definitely a short sleeve timepiece. It looks fantastic on your wrist. I have considered a Panerai, although I prefer the JLC Master Compressor. I also like a little colour in my watch face. It's purely subjective and we all know you will enjoy your Panerai. Thanks for sharing. I always look forward to Saturday morning.
A very beautiful Panerai, good choice there! While Panerais may not be investment watches like Rolex Sports Models, but aesthetically this is a well-designed watch. I personally prefer the 312 models to the newer 1312 models just like you said. I have a smaller wrist so it's the 392 for me :) Wear it in good health and may it enjoy some good wrist time with you!

I have the same 312. My wrist is only 15cm (5.9 inch) but i can still wear it. you have big wrist, it looks perfect. Panerai supposes to be big and chunky, all Pam below 44mm are for women.

Congrats on your first Panerai LWC!! I have a 1033 and 424 myself. The 44mm Luminor case looks fine on your wrist. Panerai stands out because of their outstanding case making ability. There is no other watch manufacturer that has the distinctive and commanding wrist presence of a Panerai. Wear it in good health!!🤙💪

No doubt it’s big and thick watch but it’s a classic, quality watch so no one will mind.

Really nice watch and I ended purchasing one a couple of months after this video except I wasn’t able to find your “312” video again as it only referenced panerai and nothing else. I’ve subscribed now for the great content however a 312 reference in the title would be helpful. 👍
Nice piece can't go wrong with a Pan , far too large for my wrist, but that suits your wrist .

Great choice on Panerai. You should get a rubberb strap for it. Got a PAM 213 and love my rubberb more than the croc strap that came with the watch.

I think it looks great on your wrist. It’s a big boy but doesn’t look awkward on you. I think it really suits the rubber strap. Not sure it’d look the same on the croc leather. I had a wee smile to myself when you mentioned that the leather strap was £280. That’s my sweet spot for a complete watch (well up to £500 actually).

I’m a bigger guy 6’4 and boy do I love my panerai’s 😍
It is very large and thick on the wrist but I think it will still demand some wrist time, it’s one of the few watches that you can get away with the size because it is expected, a great addition to the collection and these will only be going up in value 👏

Like you I prefer this version to the latest one; it’s more monotone & cool looking with just the black and grey tones. For me personally though the watch is just a little too thick. Whilst it does look big on your wrist I think diameter wise at least you pull it off ok. Enjoy it! Time will tell how much you wear it… ;-)

I think it look great on your wrist. IMO Panerai watch should wear big on the wrist. This is the style of the brand. Of course not ridiculously huge on a skinny wrist. Congrats on your new acquisition!

Lovely piece! You're spot on with the comment about these being a signifier of the owner having more than a passing interest in horology - it's also not something that can sit by itself in a collection. I'm very fortunate to have a PAM111, for me it ticked all the boxes and although at 44mm it is by far the largest in my collection (for context the smallest piece I have is the 27mm Tank Solo) it does get a tonne of wrist time and is my go to for beach holidays...I might wear mine today now :-)
It surely is a beautiful watch, but I’m not sure if I would personally wear it a lot, it’s a bit similar to the deep sea for me, something I really like but would not be able to wear very often. Great video, as always 👍👍

Congratulations, it’s a beautiful watch. However, I don’t think you’re gonna give it a little wrist time because it’s too big for your wrist. If it feels comfortable then that’s no problem but it does look too big. Wear it in good health.
Try the Due! The Paneristi say it’s not a “real” Panerai because it’s too small, but it works perfect on my wrist and I love it!
312 was a dealbreaker as you cannot fit the watch in any long sleeves shirt cuffs. And because it’s heavy, unless you fit it tightly, the watch will always come off from your wrist.

Another difference between 312 and the latest 1312 iteration is that the later no longer has the hacking seconds feature. On a different note, that 312 looks great on your wrist, it is always how you ware the watch and not the other way around
I bet this won’t get any wrist time and you’ll sell it. The idea of needing to get a larger Panerai because of the history of them being bigger is becoming an outdated philosophy. They are making some incredible 42mm and smaller watches. I owned a 44 for this reason and ended up selling it. Recently Bought a 42mm sub and it just made sense. It really is perfect
You should look into Horus straps. I find them better than the OEM ones. They’re also a bit shorter and won’t flare out at the end.
Your collection seems to be going in a certain direction where most pieces have a significant history. This makes it very interesting as you can talk about the collection as a whole and relate watches to each other in the time domain. Very nice addition to the collection! The sandwich dial is a must indeed and the history of Panerai demands respect.
The only thing that slightly bothers me is the date window. Having a 3 there would probably make it look more symmetrical. But that's where their wide array of variants come in. There's something for everyone's taste.

Great time piece, looks great in your wrist, mo problem with the size a very masculine time piece.
Correct choice as a Panerai owner I love Panerai's and as you have said It is a must in every collection.

Good choice. Only a 44mm is a real Panerai and Luminor is the classic design. I got one for the same reason as you. Mine is the blue dial which comes with bracelet abs I got an extra rubber strep

IMO they do have some nice 40mm models. PAM01048 for example.

Nice. As for “too large” I think it’s all bollocks. It’s personal choice and it’s for no one else to agree on, but as long as you like it. I have a tiny 16cm wrist yet I have a Breitling 48mm Dover which is huge and it’s fun. But then when I put my 40mm Premier on it looks tiny. So the whole correct face size for a wrist I think is rubbish. It’s only done to whether you like it. That’s all that matters when spending such money :)
