Had to look it up, but Enchantment is pretty on-point lorewise too; Sauron was originally a craftsman under Aulë the Smith (plus he had his whole ring thing going on).
Right, and ultimately he wanted to enchant, control, and subjugate all the races of the realm. He wanted to go beyond magic of matter/flesh to control the mind/will of living things.
This isn't really a faction theme like this, but there is a synergy I stumbled across by accident that I found oddly satisfying. Started as Dark so Cull the Weak is a core part of it, researched Brand of Wrath to apply that to all units. The two main Shadow tomes for this are Doomherald and Great Transformation, giving Fetid Legion, Cruel Weaponry, Joy Siphoners, and Wightborn. The end result of this is an army of undead that have permanent Life Steal, Weaken everything passively in melee (rather than relying on Warlocks and spells) get some regen on damaging those Weakened units on top of the bonus damage from CtW, drain morale, and deal bonus damage to enemies with low morale - it's 50% between CtW and CW, plus whatever other bonuses are there from race traits, heroes, etc I enjoy Cull the Weak anyway, either using Warlocks, Pursuers or Baneful Curse, but the synergy I found oddly satisfying was an army of Night Guard got attacked by a notably superior army and I decided to play it manually - they just wouldn't die, constantly healing from hitting weakened enemies and being undead, they had no right winning that battle.
Mixing the more authoritarian order tomes with the more subversive chaos tomes really does feel like the best way to develop into Mordor as Sauron wanted it. I think for Saruman I would just change either the order or chaos tomes with materium tomes, and that's Isengard. But yeah, becoming the "What if Sauron reclaimed the One Ring" scenario seems like a ton of fun.
I've found that Chosen Destroyers and Great Builders is amazing here. Build up Mordor, leaving nothing but ruin in all who dare to oppose you. And also the Tome of Scrying is a must. The Tower of True Sight is as close to the Eye of Sauron as we can get
@@guesmouh6814 That depends on how much you care about unlocking it normally. You can easily boot up a realm with just you and the AI, find the AI and declare war, and then vassalize yourself for the Military Victory and farm up Pantheon exp. Aside from that, I'd say the Story Missions provide plenty of Pantheon XP if you just make a beeline for the Chosen Destroyers.
I mentioned this on your previous faction build video, but I think a Numenorean build would be pretty cool. Human form with high culture, and tone of faith as your starting tome. Take the tome of zeal and enchantment at a later date to make your armies both tank and deal a lot of damage (the armies of Numenor were famous for their might), and you could play them as either good or evil, depending on if you want to play them as elf friends or conquerors, and take the appropriate traits like Imperialists or Chosen Uniters
I actually tried out a ‘black numenorean’ build kind of loosely based on the kingdom after Sauron corrupted it. High Culture Humans but leaning towards pyromancy/chaos tomes with my own take on a “fair form” Sauron elf wizard. It was pretty fun! Not sure how synergistic it would be but it felt cool.
I made the chaos dwarves (with a v not an f) and it works really well, no ka'daai but balors and magma spirits work well, a materium and chaos work to create an agrressive expansionist empire
This is a great theme build. I keep trying to think up theme builds every time I crank up this game. The race creator has its limitations, of course, but with some creativity and careful tome choices, I find a lot of interesting themes work. I created the Drow (underground adaptation) and tried to focus on poisons, zeal, stealth.... It's interesting and fun, one of my favorite parts of the game is creating theme races/factions.
Love this game for that as well. I play civ for multiplayer and enjoy the super RNG starts, but with Age of wonders love singeplayer and roleplaying as the characters.
I've tried creating Malekith and the Dark Elves. White skinned elves (even moreso after Frostling transformation) with Dark hair, dark culture (it's a given) with the first tome being the tome of souls (accidentally, I was sure I took Cryomancy but it still fits), took powerful evokers and gofted casters. The rest of the game was basically alternating between Arcane and Dark Aligances with yhe final one being Arcade because DEs aren't really fans of Necromancy with a little bit of order in the end (although chaos would have been fitting as well, but has decided against it).
The Order line of tomes would fit well with Sauron seeing as he was the opposite of what Morgoth wanted. Where Morgoth wanted complete chaos, Sauron wanted complete control.
Surprised there was no mention of Tome of the Doomherald, since it does a lot of morale play as well and got the cruel weapons, and Oblivion gives you insanity stuff. But it seems this build doesn't do a lot of Shadow
Tome of the Creator gives your Hero "Ancient of the Earth", that makes him BIG. "Reveler's Heart" transformation turns unit legs into hoofs, if you combine it with transformation from Tome of Beasts, you will get Satyrs from Greek Myths, or Beastmen from WARHAMMER Fantasy, minus horns, currently in game only Demonkin can be Horny. Collect all Chaos transformations except Spawnkin, pick it's Nature Counterpart to make units bigger and you have Khorne Bloodthirsters. Scary thing is, there still at least 4 DLC and mind is already melting, thinking about all the Roleplay Character Creations. No time to play, naming in the end of Faction/Character creation is my worst enemy, when I'm done it's already late.
Subjugation really does fit nicely into the motifs of an evil overlord. Tearing down your enemies with Chaos, then enforcing your own brutal iron-fisted Order in place of the void you left behind.
These are so much fun to watch! Love hearing your thought process and ideas. Super super looking forward to the Elder Scrolls faction you have in mind!!
For my first playthrough I went w/ Industrious Resilient/Defensive Tactics Dawi plus the Tome of Enchantment and accrued a grand total of 5 minor race transformations (Imagine giant half-goat Dwarfs with flesh of steel and gold and oh they are magically warded like Warhammer dwarfs and it makes them look like gods of thunder). Not to mention a metric boat-load of enchantments. Landed a research victory for Materium because my starting vassal had like 6 reachable research nodes plus a wonder that counted as a research node, and my starting province had 4 mines too. I was reaching over 1k gold per turn by the end of the game and that's accounting for upkeep on 4 very strong doomstacks. Edit: I found a bug. Apparently if you go for research victory if u have more than 3 provinces the most recently acquired province(s) will be taken over by another player faction.
Thematically in game I think Sarumon would be more in line with the choices available with what you wanted to focus on. Less so undead, more orc fucused and industrious
Tome of Revelry and then Devastation just seems so on point for me. The fact that the carnival of flesh can really add to your growth whil going a scions of evil, imperialists build really makes you able to afford buffed mega cities that churn out the weapons of war.

I can also see, as partners to scions of evil, prolific swarmers perhaps or imperious. The former because of how quick the orcs and goblins would procreate and the latter for Saurons greater ambitions. Great builders does feel like a nice one though too so that you don't have to grab a materium tome early
I'm late but this is an epic video. I'm gunna try and make an Isengard faction cause I love me Uruk-hai and they're tons of fun on the tabletop. I love having Lurtz (even if he isn't cannon) and I might make a champion faction based on Lurtz taking over!

I have been thinking about doing a DND Drow empire using Spider Mounts,Underground Adaptation as race traits Dark culture and Scions of evil with Powerful Evokers however I'm kind stuck on what Tomes to choose should I go with shadow tomes for the affinity synergy or a different affinity like Chaos for the demon summoning or Order for the evil theocracy angle I'm also thinking tome of roots just for the poison weapons.
Yeah, I created a Drow faction. Spider mounts and underground adaptation so they start in the "Underdark". I went with tomes in zeal, chaos and nature (poisons). Dark culture. I took the dark trait trait that gives scouts universal camouflage...can't remember the rest offhand. I basically played through the game focusing on Drow society as authoritarian and secretive and based on chaos, fear and zeal for Lolth. It's a fun faction to play.
Now I want to know how you would make Celebrimbor's forces from Shadow of War, lol. Evil Orcs being corralled into fighting for "good" by a mind-controlling Elf ghost.
Wouldn't Uruks be the choice for a Saruman build instead of a Sauron build? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not a LOTR expert by any stretch of the imagination, but as I understood it, Sauron just had regular-ass Orcs, and it was Saruman who ended up doing some fucked-up crossbreeding experiments to create taller, stronger Orcs which would be less sensitive to sunlight, which were the black Uruk-hai.
Assuming you have played Final Fantasy before, are you going to do a video on how to recreate Bahamut from FF 1 when the first expansion drops? Jokes aside, I was not expecting them to just straight up let you make a DRAGON GOD as your ruler and I can't not wait to see the Dragon related Race Transformations (assuming they have those in the first DLC)

A long explanation (you have been warned): Sauron is one of the Angelic beings called the Ainur (The Holy Ones). There are two categories, the Valar (who held the greatest understanding and power) and Maiar (who are lesser in inherent power compared to the Valar). Sauron is a Maia, but a very powerful one (power does not necessaryly mean combat prowess). In the begining and for a time he was good, with the name Mairon (meaning "Admirable"). At one point however he came under the influance of Melkor (the Big Bad of that universe) and afterwards served him for a long time. (the Balrogs are different in that they served Melkor from the begining) Many people called him many names, but "Sauron" stuck the most in the writings, which means "The Abhorred" (basically the polar opposite of his original name). He is a perfectionist and hated waste, which ironically caused his downfall. He could have been one of the greatest beings opposing evil, but instead he turned to evil by wanting to enforce his will on others to create the "perfect world". To my knowledge there is no mention if he was a "spirit of fire", unlike in the case of Balrogs, so I wouldn't categorise him as such. He has knowledge and understanding of many things (basically he had power over those things to warying degree), but no specific "element". I tried to be concise while still writing a lot of information about him (not everything obviously), sorry if it's still too long.
Tome of the Horde fits pretty well with...basically anything involving orcs from Middle-Earth. Even the most well-equipped and trained of orc armies such as those from Isengard still relied on overwhelming numbers as their main strength, as despite Sauron's origins as a Maiar of Aule, the Valar of Crafts and Metalworking, his armies did not rely on well-made equipment. The orcs of Mordor were bred en masse and equipped with whatever could be cobbled together in an attempt to overwhelm with sheer numbers and dark sorcery, as any one soldier from the Free Lands of Men, Elves, or Dwarves was worth easily a dozen orcs, or more. I think for Sauron and Mordor orcs, Dark + Chaos comboes work best; a focus on keeping the cities efficiently pumping out cheap, expendable units with little regard for the wellbeing of the people since all that matters is fuelling the warmachine. If you wanted a focus on Materialist tomes instead, that definitely seems more like something with Saruman and Isengard; Saruman was ALSO a Maiar of Aule, and though the uruk-hai of Saruman still needed overwhelming numbers to fight the Rohirrim, they were much deadlier than an individual orc of Mordor or Goblin of the Misty Mountains, and much better equipped. For Isengard you might do Dark + Materialist, with the potential add in of Chaos or Arcane to add some of Saruman's magic mastery into the mix.
I've done WoW Horde Orcs and Alliance humans. Shame we can't fix the start city name, so AI builds them with certain names. The morning rename options the better eg weapons, units and cities
I have been loving your videos on the game. I have been watching your videos for guidance for the game, although I'm waiting for all the DLC to come out. I'm toying with the idea of a faction of elementals with Mystic culture (traits that boost mages and summons) and grabbing all the summon elemental creatures (Mostly Materium and Astral with a splash for cryo and pyro tomes). Any advice if possible?
This is exactly my favorite play style, and I would recommend mystic, with ancient wise ones and mana channelers, with evocation to start: main reasoning behind this is you want to shoot up the astral tree branch as soon as possible, as mana generation, research and the bonuses to summon ranks mean being able to turn cheap tier 1 elemental summons into tier 3 elements instantly. Once this gets going mid-late game, you’ve got massive diverse armies that can be replenished as quickly as you can churn out world summons
Am I missing something? I got the game like 3 days ago, and I'm not seeing any "Physical Form" option in the hero character creator. After watching this video I had dreams of doing a Savage Orc Boar Boy theme with them led by a Gobbo but I don't see any option to chnge the warboss's form other than from male to female. Is this perhaps a feature that got cut in the live release or in a patch shortly after release?
@@italianspartacus Thanks. I kind of figured that out by accident about an hour after posting this. Kind of weird that that feature is only available under Wizard King and not under Champion as well. That is what threw me off. Have Fun :)!
Sauron is orderly, the vast majority of his forces are not. Chaos fits the nature of Uruks- Sauron and his lieutenants are essentially herding cats. Order and Materium would fit Saruman more, imo. His Uruk-Hai are far more disciplined.
I still can't get the helmet in game. Even if i subed way before release. Also entered the code in steam, laucher said i had it (before they hid that tab). But it still wont show up in game.
Very cool video, but i must disagree with author. Mordor orcs are not tall and strong. They were always slightly smaller than a human and weaker, which is why they always hoped for numerical superiority. Another thing is Saruman's orcs, he specially brought them out as the strongest orcs, but they were still from a man, and not higher. But I liked, because i`m too make Sauron in Age of Wonders)

In the begining and for a time he was good, with the name Mairon (meaning "Admirable"). At one point however he came under the influance of Melkor (the Big Bad of that universe) and afterwards served him for a long time. (the Balrogs are different in that they served Melkor from the begining)
Many people called him many names, but "Sauron" stuck the most in the writings, which means "The Abhorred" (basically the polar opposite of his original name).
If I recall, Grond was the name of Morgoth's mace.
Already made Fingolfin and Melkor myself :)
Really enjoy these videos
A blood elves faction build from warcraft will be insane
Clearly the symbol should have been the One Ring :p
Would Sauron be order or chaos? Lawful Evil or Chaotic Evil?
Two factions I would like to see is the Hylians and the Gerudo led by Zelda and Ganondorf Respectfully
Hey I did this last night lol, didn't know his last name so I put "the eye" and the banner a ring.
If you are taking requests, I'd like to see a good satyr build
I so want this game.
As you were scrolling through your outfits, I noticed a tattered black robe (somewhat ring-wraith-esque) but I don't have that. How'd you get it?
Could you do Gandalf, Aragorn , Thranduil and Elrond please
Unfortunately, I'm one of the many people they screwed up on sending the helmet to so waiting on ticket and hoping they fix.
This is what i wanted to do. thanks
Hylians from Legend of Zelda ?
I made a race of undead rats lead by a necromancer cat. Thought that'd be fun
I've done WoW Horde Orcs and Alliance humans. Shame we can't fix the start city name, so AI builds them with certain names. The morning rename options the better eg weapons, units and cities
Thanks!
PARAS!!! MY PLEASURE BROTHER!
i made Azog the Defiler as my Orc Hero!
Personally I'd change a single tome for the t2 tome of doomsomething, and become a joy siphoner as they tend to break the armies moral easily
Make Narnia stuff. Like white witch, Aslan, etc.
Please release a video on the Cannibal Cats for those of us that dont have Twitch!
That helmet at 7:22 the barbut looking one. How did you get that one? Was it also a news letter unlock?
it's part of the pantheon rewards, first reward on the third column :)
You have to select wizard king as your origin :)
@@italianspartacus Thanks. I kind of figured that out by accident about an hour after posting this. Kind of weird that that feature is only available under Wizard King and not under Champion as well. That is what threw me off. Have Fun :)!
How about a Necromancer Hero?
Sauron identity its Order and Materium instead of chaos.
Sauron is orderly, the vast majority of his forces are not. Chaos fits the nature of Uruks- Sauron and his lieutenants are essentially herding cats. Order and Materium would fit Saruman more, imo. His Uruk-Hai are far more disciplined.
I would add Shadow as well, maybe not souls but the torture and enslavement is really part of it.
He was a totalitarian Ruler, not a being of Chaos.
@@medli7725 Saruman share same talents and opinions. Uruk-hai thats entire orc kin. Saruman soldiers is half-orc.
I still can't get the helmet in game. Even if i subed way before release. Also entered the code in steam, laucher said i had it (before they hid that tab). But it still wont show up in game.
guys i can't beat Story Mission 5; any helpful advisors around?
Grond is made from Morgoth's mace I believe.
I made Chaos Dwarves, like Warhammer fantasy style.
Wait how you make the leader different from the race?
any chance of Game of Thrones Night King?
Imperium of Mankind from Warhammer 40,000 if its possible :)
friggin awesome, someone do the wild hunt from witcher next 😄
All hail the evil minions!
Is this worth getting at full price?
If you like these types of games (4x RPG games)? Absolutely.
@@droe2570 buying it now, lol.
Feel free to use my link but absolutely dude it's fucking awesome. If you liked heroes of might and magic, you'll love this
Does this game have cutscenes
How to get this helmet? I have no such :(
Very cool video, but i must disagree with author.
Hope you Make rhun one day
golden clad evil men corrupted by the forces of darkness sounds so cool
Skaven from Warhammer fantasy when? I think the game has pretty much perfect set of tools for them
I can do it I just feel SO many people already have!
Give us the papa Palpatine build i know you've been keeping to yourself! Wizard king with political power and disposable armies (clones/ stormtrooper)
I made demon Rats riding a Unicorn so =) *hug
