Great tips. One more to add most players don't realize: You can unlock Pantheon traits/unlocks by moving in any direction: up, down, left/right. If you're going for a specific type of unlock, they tend to be grouped in rows. Unlock down until you hit that row, then left/right to grab all the ones of that type. Any new unlock is only as far away as your nearest unlocked node.
Not sure if anyone else has noticed this little tidbit yet: your wizard kings form isn’t just cosmetic; it retains the default body trait. So a human form wizard king is going to have the recuperating health boost, the elf form will have keen sight and so on. Edit: so, by extrapolation: each new form we get from DLCs means new potential builds for wizard kings.
Woahhhh now…so if you play human wizard king leading a faction of orcs, does the wizard king benefit from both the default human traits and orc traits? What if I’m a human ruling ruling a custom human faction? Does the wizard king get the default human traits, custom, or both?
@@Andreas0424 so the wizard king forms default body trait will always stay the same. Doesn’t matter what form or traits you pick for your minions. If I had a tip to give it would be that Diplomacy is a good way to achieve a military victory. If your stronger than your opponent you can coerce them into becoming a vassal. You may have to sweeten the deal with gold or other resources. Forcing another player to be your vassal is basically signing an alliance that they cannot break.
I see. Thanks for the tip. I'm not that type of military victory, tho, just curious, is it possible to vasalize another player that had a lot of grievances towards me?
@@amfarid_ Im fairly sure that grievances are solely used to determine war justification. What determines your ability to vassalize opponents is your power. Things like army strength, alliances, number of cities and economy. The closer the opponent is to your power level the less likely they are to be vassalized. If you have an overwhelming advantage though the odds are better. Im sure there are some AI personalities that are more resistant to it than others. I do enjoy how this game lets you play as both a good or evil diplomat though.

Great guide, Pixel! I’m absolutely loving this game, but I feel like the mid to late stages in AOW4 can really drag on and I’d be interested to see a guide video that focuses on that. Some of the talking points might include: choosing a victory condition, assessing enemy victory conditions, making good use of teleporters, balancing offense and defense, and using the underground and oceans effectively. Please and thank you! 😊
Tried the last one just because I needed 3 more levels for a thing I needed, and it basically never worked because they'd instantly declare the type of war where you can't talk to them at all. Is there some extra key feature that's needed to do that one consistently? Only managed to pull it off once, and tried it like 12 times because I thought I made a mistake and just reset everytime. Ended up just doing domination victories instead because it was so vanishingly rare that it'd actually work
he didn't come up with the exploit method, he just watched another creators video who has been out since day 1. and if you do it right you can often complete the game by turn 3
Or Draft yields. Basically an Outpost is only good if it' yields more Gold than it eats as upkeep, or if it yields Mana, or if it has a magic resource that you don't have anywhere else, as their bonuses don't stack. I can't see how they are "free money".
Hey Jumbo. Would you mind making a correction in the future videos, please, regarding arctic and desert race bioms. Many content creators on youtube disregard biom racial perks as weak. But I found that if you pick Desert or Arctic bioms as one of your race qualities - you will start at the bottom or at the top of the map respectively (100% cases I experienced). So you have advantage of having a safe side, one less side to scout, and you have a terrain that can help you greatly defensively. The more I play this game - more things I keep finding.
thanks man, that is actually really great info, and will help me play a couple games as White Walers from north of the Wall, or even as some kinda desert scourge themed games haha man i love this game
So, it sounded like you were going to offer more insight into the Rally of lieges than you did…. If you annex a Womder that offers you a unit(s) for RoL, sure got that. But how do you quickly get better tiered units other than that? I understand the mechanic being as your vassals get stronger, so will the units offered. Does that process go quicker if you hit the button for ‘Rally of Lieges” before the timer cools down? So you pay gold to quicken the tier offered by vassals?
The units they offer depend on the tier of the city state which you can see on their diplomacy panel. Currently, there is no way to increase their tier, their tier will always be what they started as. I think you can absorb them and then release them to increase their tier but I haven't experimented with that yet.
The strength of the units from RoL is based on the strength of the vassal. Much like the player the free cities have city tiers. The higher the tier and more developed the city the stronger the units the vassal should offer. Free cities can be a bit slow on their growth however. Im fairly sure thats because your taking up to 50% of their income. Im not sure if trade has any effect on their growth either. If your looking for strong units from RoL It might be better to try and vassalize and enemy city as that should be more developed. There are also a lot of order affinity empire developments that boost RoL. One of them gives faithful which is a 10% upkeep decrease and another gives +2 ranks to units hired though RoL. The vassal system and RoL is a bit complex so I might be wrong on one or more points but Im fairly sure thats how it works. Calling for another rally just refreshes the list of units you can hire. Whats cool is if your vassals have a large enough army they will attack your enemies if your at war and they decide to take part in it.
I'm hesitant to do any cheese because I am having so much fun getting beat up. I'm about to try Grexolis again, fourth run. I think magic victory is my only chance.
I've yet to see anyone get another victory type. It's always magic or allied magic victory. I get they want the scenario to be challenging but it's punishing to play even on easy.
@@UnsaltedCashew38 order tomes, not times sorry. There's at least 2 order tomes that come with buildings that boost stability. The empire development tree also has options to boost stability. Nature has one that gives +2 stability per forest and materium has one for +2 stability adjacency bonus for matching improvements. Finally the last tier of the town centre building adds +2 stability per population which is effectively a 40% reduction in negative stability in every city.
Materium tomes have a spell that can destroy terrain. Use that and you have a blank canvas to terraform to your liking. I do agree that terraforming could do with some refinement and expansion though.
