    Great tutorial! My husband bought me a Cricut Air Explorer 2 for Christmas a couple of years ago, I was so intimidated by it, I didnt unbox it for months! I watched all kinds of videos, but mostly taught myself. I wish there was a video like this one when I was trying to learn, you always take your time and explain everything so well. No matter what your video content is, you totally rock girl! Thanks for sharing all of your awesomeness!

      Me too...but Cricut seems to be taking over ☹️. It's tough to find good Silhouette project tutorials but I'm literally drowning in Cricut tutorials. Most of the basics are the same, so it's all good, but sometimes specifics are helpful.

      Oh so do I. I have the cameo 4 and absolutely love it and there are so many differences between the two

    • @UnicornDustDesigns
      @UnicornDustDesigns  3 роки тому +4

      Yes, basics are the same. The reason Cricut is taking over is because they’re gifting people the machines to show their subscribers. Cameo doesn’t even respond to creators on their social media so I think people are going with the company who’s rewarding them for talking about it. Either way I enjoy both for different reasons.

    I love your channel and is making my way through all of your videos :). I have gone out and purchased several round pieces of wood and is in the process of getting other supplies. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. When it comes to the mini paint rollers, can you wash foam rollers? I have Minwax (water based) Polycrylic protective finish already at the house and wanted to know if it's okay to use? I also have the Helmsman Indoor/Outdoor that's not water based. Would that be okay to use on darker stains since there is a yellowing factor?

    • @UnicornDustDesigns
      @UnicornDustDesigns  3 роки тому +1

      Hello! I just wash my foam rollers out with warm water. I wouldn’t suggest using the roller with clear coats. I use the chippy brush. Yes, you can use the water based poly. Hey there!! I have a quick question for you....... Whats the reason that you dont just use the stencil vinyl on all of your wood signs? I know that you prefer to use the stencil Vinyl on top of painted projects and just regular permanent vinyl on bare wood projects. is it because it works better, more cost effective???? THANKS SO MUCH!!

    • @UnicornDustDesigns
      @UnicornDustDesigns  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Sarah. I like using the permanent vinyl directly on the wood because it has a stronger adhesive which I feel helps with bleeds and of course the stencil on top of paint 100% of the time because it doesn't rip up the paint. I also think the stencil vinyl is a little more expensive.

      Yes it is okay to leave vinyl on your wood. However, I’m not quite sure how clear works over it. If I’m doing an outside sign I always paint and seal.

    super new to cricut...just got it for Christmas hole this question doesn't sound dumb haha. When you cut it you use it as a stencil or so you keep the vinyl on? If you use it as a stencil do you have to use a specific mat or type of vinyl?

    • @UnicornDustDesigns
      @UnicornDustDesigns  3 роки тому

      Hi Amber. Any vinyl you cut with Cricut you will use the same mat. A stencil just means you're using it to paint with. Wether that be over the cut vinyl or inside (when you weed the vinyl). Decal would be cutting the vinyl and using it on something.

    Hey girl!! I have a question. I.know you use sparurthane or whatever it's called lol BUT-- When you make signs for doors in the winter, how long do you let it cure before you send them out for customers? Idk what the heck is going on. I've been using polycrylic and I just had my first experience with it cracking which I think it because of the temperature in the room I paint in. It's cold! Lord have mercy. Has this ever happened to you? I can't find water based helmsman near me anywhere so I have to use polycrylic!

    • @UnicornDustDesigns
      @UnicornDustDesigns  3 роки тому +1

      Hmmm that hasn’t happened to me. You can also use another brand of spar urethane water based. It could also be how you store the clear. If you’re storing it in a cold place they may be the problem read the back of the can. When I first started I stored mine in the garage and learned that it should have been stored in my basement where the temp doesn’t change so much.

    What I haven’t been able to figure out is if you buy a file and want to change a word in it, how do you edit it? Unlocking doesn’t seem to work on those. For example, the other day you gave us a free file for a Christmas sign. I saved it and was trying to put my name in place of yours and I couldn’t figure out how to do it once unlock didn’t work. Any ideas?

    • @UnicornDustDesigns
      @UnicornDustDesigns  3 роки тому

      That’s weird. I don’t believe I welded it together so you should have been able to change that. I’ll have to look. Usually sign most SVG’s you should be able to change the file

    This question is hard to weird, so I hope you get what I'm saying(picking up what I'm throwing down)😀. If you have the 17.5x17.5 round and you wanted a border around the whole round, do you know how to do that?

    • @UnicornDustDesigns
      @UnicornDustDesigns  3 роки тому +2

      Hello Amber. So you would just find a border either within design space or you can even Google one and upload it. Then you would have to slice the image in half in order to cut it. Then when you lay it down you’ll just have to line up the pieces.
