Lost my kids father to aml leukemia he put up a good fight for 3 year said im not afraid to die. Was once 230 muscula went down to 130 lbs died at home with dignity and with my boys around him. He cried out and smiled "God!" His last word" AMEN THANK YOY BRANTLY FOR PUTTING I TO WORDS WHAT WE CANT.God bless you!!😢😢😢😢❤God bless our soldiers and Veterans so many useless wars for the elite to get rich..so evil and sad. We have so many heros we meet in life!!!!
Dude you're brantley Gilbert. As a black guy who listens to country, I get a lot of he'll. But YOU and like combs have been the BIGGEST idols and roll models I could ever dream of. Even though you'll never see this, I want you to know i love you and thank you for being an amazing human in my life. Behind my momma and god himself, you are one of my biggest blessings. God bless you
This song def hits home on both levels. I cry every time I hear it. My father served in the USMC for 12 yrs. and he eventually succumbed to ALS. The doctor said he only had a month to live but he fought it for 2 yrs. I know I'll see him again in heaven.
Sorry to hear that brother. My dad went downhill fast, from walking and talking to just a couple months being in a wheelchair and couldn’t speak with a trache hose to breathe. He fought hard for almost ten years with that disease tho. Toughest man I ever knew
I love this song. My boyfriend who is in the army who been hurt on his deployments a few times. And now battles stage 4 of prostate cancer.. He is a good simple country man. I love you Michael.
Be glad he didn't go thru the hell of Special Forces selection where guys die trying to make it thru selection. Then guys like the British SAS who suffer thru selection get chunked out into Iraq 8 men deep and 2 die from hypothermia, 3 get captured, and the results are 4 dead, one escaped, and 3 were taken prisoner. My friend is dead from service with the SAS. Gone. On that note they do more than your serviceman who is "serving their country". They're willing to lose their life for people in third world countries so they can have a better life. How many people ya know are willing to die so people in some shithole country get some peace. Not many, not many at all. Lemmie tell you, they tell the stories so people who knew them think of how much they probably suffered.
I'm praying for him. I lost my father to small cell lung cancer he battled hard he was 63.. my father was a green beret and served as a tunnel rat in vet.
Brantley Gilbert, you might think you aren’t much of a musician but I have to tell you that I found this stripped down version even more powerful and moving than the original release which I thought was amazing! You are a very talented young man and you know how to create a phrase that moves within people when they hear it! ❤️
This song right here hits home with me I lost my grandfather my father figure too long cancer not only that he fought for this country in the Korean War he was in the United States Navy so this song right here really touching me
I lost my great grand father who was a Air Force vet and I've lost many other friends. So this song (especially the chorus) hits me so hard. I hate crying. But it puts me to tears every time I hear this song.
Respect to everyone fighting for America and against cancer! People need to appreciate military for our freedom, and people need to respect people fighting horrible diseases ! Be nice and open a door instead of being shut off and disconnected! Especially the younger generations.
Yet another reason I LOVE Brantley! He has one of the biggest hearts in popular music of any genre today! Too many men and woman fight and die for a fight I truly believe isn’t ours to fight. Yes I know even those who fight will disagree with that statement, but I don’t apologize for what I believe, nor would anyone have to apologize for a son, daughter, wife, husband, dad, mom, brother or sister for why their loved ones won’t be coming home alive!!! And the last time they told them goodbye WAS the last time!!! God bless each and every one of your lives! I can’t fight in combat for man reasons, involving health but I can go to a war of sorts, that’s a war with the evil that creates war and strife! Prayer is more mighty than even the most well trained soldiers because, GOD our LORD is the one granting the answers to those prayers! Power in prayer and power in the blood of Jesus Christ who died for each of our sins! No not just this one or that one or this persons or that persons! ALL! HE DIED FOR ALL! I better stop before I get myself in trouble lol love yall! Candie
This is raw audio. No special effects that a studio brings. Just a vocalist and a acoustic guitar. Raw music the way it should be sometimes. More powerful that way. And thanks to the soldiers that fight, that are still fighting so we people can do these things that mean so much to us. It's all because of you
For those who dislike this song and dont support what us true Patriots do, well theres a place over in the middle east for ya so you can see just how good you have it. Thanks B for a great tribute to our fallen heroes
My granfather just passed away from leukemia just 3 days ago, he was a war veteran and just an all around great person, cant express how much this song means to me and reminds me of him everytime i hear it.

This touches my heart I lost my 2 year old son to brain cancer. Even when he was in my tummy we always listened to you💜 he will always be my hero🎗💙 hes on you tube Jace Birchfield miss him so much😪❤
First time I heard this song was when you performed it live in Oklahoma, back in 2016. Six years after my mother passed, after a long battle with breast cancer, and after I had finished boot camp/SOI for the Marine Corps. Looked at my sister (who bought the tickets for my birthday) and ‘bout broke, right next to the stage. Fast forward a few years, when you came to Riverwind Casino (2024), and as I’m belting out the lyrics, I noticed a gentleman who had recently laid one of his own parents to rest, and held this man up, as he broke in my arms. Your music truly carries more weight than you know, sir. Many thanks, from this Jarheaded Cowboy, and many others who rely on music for their means to express themselves. Keep up the amazing work.
Thank you Brantley Gilbert! I did 2 tours in Iraq, all the beauty in this world can't remove the images of the things I witnessed and the things I've done from my memories. I sleep with it every night (if I sleep at all) sometimes it's just easier to stay awake, but I Wouldnt change any of it and I would do it all over again in a minute to protect the people and the country I love so much and I'm thankful for the Honor and the privilege to have been allowed to serve.
I cry everytime I hear this song! My dad was military 38 yrs, he had a full military funeral, bugle playing taps and 21 gun salute! But when they fold that flag and hand it to ya its awesome but very sad, It's one hell of an Amen for sure! Thank you Brantly Gilbert for this song! Touches so many ppl, and thanks for supporting the military!!!
Been a fan for so long i cant believe im just seeing this. This one brought me to tears. The raw emotion in his voice, the stillness of the crowd, man i have chills.
Such a great guy, my dad died of cancer and he was also a NAVY Seal during the war at Vietnam he was 52 when he died he fought not just the war and cancer, he was fighting to be in my life.
