    Ultracut and essence combo is deadly. I do paint corrections and coatings and am subcontracted out by multiple shops, polishing all day, there are very few duos that give the results these do. Menzerna and Oberk are the only other two brands with duos that come close.

    Your videos are truly outstanding - very informative, clear, and professional. I am going to ceramic coat my new dream car soon, as I always do. My paint only has small swirls, but as it is my dream car, I would like to get it as perfect as possible. I use all Car Pro products and wondered if it would be OK to use Ultra Cut, then Reflect before going into the IPA and ceramic coating stages.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  Рік тому +2

      Thank you so much! We really appreciate that. Yes, that is a great plan EXCEPT you might not need the Ultracut. Go to the worst area of your paint and try a section using the Reflect and it MAY remove the swirls without having to cut deeper. If not then you will know to do the car or at least the swirled section with Ultracut first. if Reflect works on its own then you will be able to save some of your clear coat and not cut as much off with a heavier compound than needed.
      Best,
      Corey

    Essence is my favorite finishing polish, especially because I always top it with UK 3.0. So nice to use. Essence Plus on the other hand, is a dud in my opinion. I've tried it on several coated cars that had light marring or swirling, it didn't do anything to fix those and it delivered reduced hydrophobic behavior compared to leaving the coating alone. After a handful of attempts and seeing it just can't do anything for me, I threw my bottle in the trash. I have yet to try one of the compounds as I've only used from other brands but I've heard good things about Ultracut.

    Awesome video valuable information especially for a noob like me!
    I’m new to detailing, especially polishing. I have some small spots of light/moderate oxidation on my bumper, so I cleaned it and tried hand polishing using Fixer and a foam pad, but I’m pretty sure I overworked it or something because after some time the oxidation got worse and those spots appear darker/matte.
    Did I eat through my clear coat? Should I have started with something less aggressive?

      a REALLY popular compound by one of our local pros is Ultracut and then following up with either Reflect or Essence Extreme. Just so you aren't buying extra pads if those can do the job with the recommended polishes.

    • @SkyCarCare

      So essence plus is a product that goes on top of a coating. Or to be used a standalone sealant. Regular essence or reflect or excellent products to use as a finishing step before coating. The difference is that Regular Essence will contain fillers while reflect will be a true finish. Either of those products will work well. Then just IPA Wipedown and you are ready to use the coating. From there. If you need to repair your coating, you would use Essence Plus.

As you can see and is mentioned in the video we have everything displayed in the order form LEAST agressive to MOST agressive. So, Gloss pad with Essnce or Refelct, Polishing pad with Fixer or Clearcut or Ultracut, Flash Pad or Microfiber pad or Wool pad with Clearcut or Ultracut. I hope that helps!

      Depending on the how much correction the vehicle needs that could be a good combination. Clearcut finishes down pretty well, but you may need to use a pad a little more aggressive than a gloss pad with the essence in some cases. In regards to the 2 liquids though, thats a good combination to start out with. Then just adjust the pads as needed depending on the how perfect of a finish you are looking to achieve.

    Hello, a great video! I have a Tesla model 3 that’s two years old and has developed some light wash induced marring. I was thinking I would do a light polish with Essence and then top with a ceramic spray sealant. Or, would I be better off using Essence Plus to fill rather than abrade? Also, how long would I have to wait after applying Essence before I could top it with a spray sealant. Thank you so much!

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks P! Well, you could go either route... The easiest option would be to wash, decontaminate, dry, and then apply Essence PLUS. This will fill the micro marring some and last up to a year but if you want to fully remove the micro marring then the Essence on a Honey Spider pad or a medium foam pad or microfiber finishing pad will be better to remove the minor damage. You could apply your spray sealant after 1 hour but even better to wait longer if possible. If it can sit 24 hours overnight before applying sealant then that is optimal but not necessary. Especially since sprays do not last that long and you will be re-applying it occasionally anyway. Hmmmm actually maybe best is to do the Essence and then follow with Essence PLUS if you want the 12 months durability still... Just depends on what you want to do.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  3 роки тому +1

      Great question Mario! Short answer is Clearcut and an orange polishing pad BUT the long answer is the more important one... Really it depends on a lot of factors! As follows:
      1. - What coating
      2. - How many coats
      3. - How long it has been cured on the paint
      4. - What your intent is in "removing" the ceramic coating
      With regards to items 4... The reason I say this is because in 99% of the cases you do not need to remove the coating but rather simply treat it as if there was no coating there at all. In other words -> Select a combination that will remove whatever damage (spots, swirls, etc) you wish to remove. If there is no damage and you simply wish to add another coating or something else or just wish to polish it anyway, then the combo would be Reflect or Essence and Gloss pad or something light like that depending on the paint your working on.

    It’s interesting - the Orange pad says on the packaging it’s not a cutting pad, but is advertised as one… confused me when I just got my order.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  7 місяців тому +1

      Could be the way CARPRO classifies it vs the way we classify it as well as the fact there is a lot of overlap from polishing to cutting. In my opinion this pad certainly overlaps. It is a polishing pad OR a cutting pad depending on how it is used. It certainly finishes down well for the cut it provides but it won't cut like the microfiber pad. by any means.

    Is it best to use all ultracut, fixer and reflect products?
    Or is it okay to use product reflect after using product ultracut?

      I understand completely and greetings from USA! You can go directly from Ultracut to Reflect. If you start with Ultracut then there is no need for Fixer. Can just go straight to Reflect.

    What polish would you recommend on a brand new car that is going to be ceramic coated? Car Pro Essence?

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  2 роки тому

      Always depends on how scratched the car is, BUT on average on a brand new vehicle, Essence is fantastic and works perfectly. It will take out the wash marring from the dealership, or any small swirls from its initial travels, as well as gloss up your paint using the Sio2 fillers it contains. Setting you up with a fantastic finish to protect with your favorite sealant or, for the longest longevity, a coating like CQUARTZ UK 3.0.

      @@SkyCarCare So typically all that is needed for prepping a brand new car for a ceramic coat (UK 3.0 and SiC2, and two teslas) is Essence with an orange pad? No need for clearcut/ultracut/fixer/cutting pads? Assuming cars have no deep scratches of course.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  Рік тому

      @@stevenromero4882 Great question, well... it depends on other things as well. Generally speaking you need to remove all the contaminants before you put a polish and pad to it in order to have a really clean surface. If it was just painted brand new and still at the factory and had not been transported then yes you could just use Essence to remove and holograms from the painter and then Eraser and then coat. But if it is transported then it can pick up a lot of rail dust. moving forward from that... if the car has much mileage or years on it or lots of contaminants from highway driving then it should be prepped really well. I.e. clayed before the Essence step and depending on oxidation may require a heavier cut (or if deeper swirls like you said also) before the Essence. After the Essence, Eraser, and then coat

    Great video, i used the essence plus with a rupes white pad and i notice that the beading effect is pretty much gone after use it could be the essence plus masking the coat i already did a iron decon and notice that the paint is really flat. Best regards

      Hi Luis, the Essence PLUS on its own should still have good beading.
      How long did you leave the Essence PLUS on before wiping it off?
      Did you do a Reset and Iron X and then test the water beading before trying the Essence PLUS?

      Absolutely you can. There is no exact science to what polishes you need to use as every paint is different! So if Ultracut finishes down well enough for the paint you are working on, following up with reflect may be all you need!

      @@tonythetonester5223 Hi Tony! yes, you can use Reflect after either compound. Then go ahead and use CARPRO Eraser before moving to the coating. Yes, you can use a ceramic coating after even if it has some graphene powder in it. While the graphene does not seem to have any benefits, it doesn't seem to do the coating any harm. It is just a minuscule amount of harmless powder. Depending on WHAT coating it is is another matter. So many companies use buzzwords to sell their products that some are not even ceramic even if they use the word ceramic. Some are not even coatings even if they use the word coatings. Some do not even have any graphene powder in them just because they print Graphene on the label so be sure to use something tried and tru by someone you personally trust and not just what's on the internet.

      @@tonythetonester5223 Thanks Tony! I haven't tested that one but we see CQUARTZ Uk 3.0 easily lasting 2+ years and when very well cared for lasting 5 years. I don't think the "graphene" coats have even been out that long but hopefully it will last very long for you! Keep us updated!
      The thing we have seen from our professionals using CQUARTZ the past year or so is using 1 coat CQ UK and then topping that with one coat of CQUARTZ Sic. So they have the strength and chemical resistance of both and the slickness and water spot resistance of SIC on top. And then they don't have to use Reload for a long time either - Bonus!
