I literally JUST bought this guitar, although Lake Placid Blue, and was looking for some reviews and this was uploaded. Perfect timing man, gonna be a great watch!
@@jq.guitars I've ordered it online so I can't have an opinion of it just yet as I haven't received it, but I'll make sure to let you know once it arrives!
@@jq.guitars the guitar arrived a day early, and they wrongly shipped me the Competition Blue model! Absolutely no complaints on that mistake, it looks much better than the other. I think this guitar is amazing, it sounds nice, plays nice, and is definitely the nicest looking guitar I've seen in person. My only complaints are that it's either got a misaligned bridge or the pickguard was cut weird, and some screws on the pickgaurd are angled. It was setup mostly well and intonated great from the factory though, all I had to do was tune it, and the tuners are nice. It's the second best playing guitar I've ever held, second only to my grandfather's Epiphone Genesis Standard, but I'm sure it will play the exact same, if not better with a proper setup. All I'm going to change on it is the strings and, originally, pickguard to maybe a black pearl, although since I received the Competition Blue I might go for a white perl. All Apologies for this long winded reply, but it truly is a great guitar, especially for the $215 I paid for it (a little pricey for a Bullet Mustang, but worth it). I hope you enjoy yours well!
@@Camtcan Awesome man! Many Bullets have this issue where the saddles will undo themselves by playing, does yours do the same? I think I'll keep mine mostly stock, but change out the bridge and put a finish on the neck. Mine has the saddle issue I mentioned, so it'll be much more playable once it's swapped out.
@@jq.guitars I played it for a while today and only noticed a little unwanted resonance from somewhere, may have been my fingers. I didn't see the saddles shift or anything, but I'll look out for that. Thanks for the heads up! What bridge are you going to swap the stock one with?
Sounds great for the Nirvana tone, I got an Imperial Blue Mustang and I'm planning to get a ds-2 for it. Good thing I found this video, because it's a perfect match to what I want.
Bought my Son this exact guitar in Sherwood green finish and he loves it. Paired it with a Fender Mustang GT40 modeling amp and MS4 foot switch. He has this smile from ear to ear...
I have my own Telecaster with a humbucker sized P90 in the neck and a mini Duncan humbucker in the bridge. If I were to mod this to be my own, it'd likely have a high output bridge humbucker and a neck P90
@jq - The Guitar Manifesto said that the Bullet Mustangs say they have a 12" fret radius, but are actually 9.5". Can you verify if this competition blue one has a 9.5" radius, because that's make or break for me. Any help is appreciated. 👍
Great guitar .They did us dirty replacing the Bullet with the heavier slab body Sonic range .Just bought a late used Bullet on reverb .Also was happy to see from 2019 they changed from 12 in to 9.5 in radius fret board which is easily my fave
I was just looking for a guitar to save up for! I love the tone of this, I’ll be sure to check it out, one question though what pedals did you use with each song?
Boss DS1 from School to Lounge Act. Boss DS2 on Drain You SansAmp on Lithium Big Muff on Breed SansAmp on Heart-Shaped Box to All Apologies The Squier Bullet Mustang HH is a great guitar, though it definitely will need a setup. Thanks for watching!
Squire quality easily competes with Fender in my opinion.I have a squire classic vibe mustang and I upgraded the bridge pickup to a Seymour Duncan JB JR and I love it.That bullet mustang sounds pretty good to.
Have you midified your much in a year?I think I 'll prob fit locking tuners for pure convenience and a Tusq nut .Think I'll keep the original pick ups for now but chrome covers might look good if I can buy a pickguard to fit without having to trim it mysel.
I would probably just put a different pickguard on it, would definitely make it look cooler i think By the way, how’s the neck? any sharp frets or something? Had this a lot with squiers, but it varies i guess..
This is my second Bullet Stang. I got my first back in 2019. The 2019 one felt perfect, but this new one has some sharp frets. It's not too bad, but it's noticeable. I personally prefer glossy necks, and Bullet Mustang necks feels unfinished. The neck still feels fine, and I can't really complain for the price. If I were to mod this guitar, I'd probably put some nitro clear on it.
I have the arctic white one with black competition stripe. Slick looking guitar and haven't seen too many of them. Definitely upgrading the guard, pickups and saddles (which suck), maybe bridge too. What are your modding plans with this one?
As a mustang enjoyer, i had to get myseIf an entry level mustang. Went for a squier one, but wasn’t amazed at all. Got a harley benton ms60. Hardware is way better. The neck, the paintjob. It feels like you are playing a 300-400 bucks guitar. It really is unbelievable what you can get for a reasonable price. This might be an unpopular opinion, but vintage harley benton models such as st62/ja60/ms60 are just as good as squier classic vibe series with just a few mods to them. But it’s still on you if you prefer the sound you can go for it there is nothing wrong with the bullet i just prefer bentons
All my gear is in the description, for SLTS I used a Boss DS1 for distortion, and then Small Clone for Chorus. Rape Me and HSB was SansAmp Classic for distortion. Thanks for the comment!
Not yet, but I made a video on a different bullet mustang fully modded out. Honestly a JB would be a great improvement, but it isn't entirely necessary.
I had bullet mustang. I think the body is too thin and too light, which makes the guitar thin sound and has poor sustain (but you may like it, I'm a les paul guy so I prefer rich, warm and mellow sound). The sound of these pickups is not very selective so it will get lost in the mix. The frets are well finished and there are no issues with buzzing. It's a good guitar for the price.
this actually sounds closer to the recording of HSB than your expensive 65 mustang. any chance you would put a bartolini pickup in this guitar? i wonder how close to the original recording it would sound.
I wouldn't put a Bartolini in this one because I'd have to route the pickguard. The reason this one sounds closer, is because the hotrail is higher resistance which makes it darker. HSB was probably actually recorded with a lower output pickup like a split humbucker or a P90
@@jq.guitars this guitar sounds pretty good for heart shaped box as is, but i was also wondering about rape me. i think ill pick one up soon. thank you for making these.
Is it just stock here? I bought this for the exact reason you did, and It sounded really bad out of box so i took it to get a set up and even changed the srtings and when I got it back it sounded better tune and intonation wise but the strings sound very metally and tinny to me still, I dont know why it sounds like that, any info you could help me with?
im really wanting a new guitar, ive been wanting humbuckers so bad bc i have a single coil strat. so do you think this is worth the price, i rlly wanna get it!
intonation is off a bit and it lacks low-end. kinda what you expect for this price but the treble-end is alright. i think it'll do alright once you've put a few pedals into it. for the price it sounds like a bargain to me.
The stock bridge on this thing is really not great, the saddle screws come undone while playing. I've replaced the bridge now, so the intonation issue is gone. A good bridge, maybe better pickups, and you get a whole lot of guitar for not so much money.
Jq's playing could make any guitar hooked up to a decent amp and pedal sound good. The guitar itself is a good example of how Fender has put the rest of the big brands to shame in that price range. I feel no sympathy for ever so snooty Gibson. Epiphone is so far behind the Squire line. Jq, a little more personal opinion talk at the end of your playing videos would not be too much.
