    I heard that when you propagate in the water, the plant produces a hormone that promotes growth, so add water slowly overtime so keep the water❤️👏

    Cutting actually do better In separate containers, it can work with all of them but it is quicker with just one plant in the water.
    This is because plant release chemicals which stimulate root growth in cuttings. Some of my cutting get mushy, and they don’t if you separate them.

    Back when things were still sorta on lockdown/people weren’t really going out yet I would go to a lot of yard sales and would find freebies to take home or cheap cuttings for sale or trade. But now that the lockdown is over-over, not so much anymore. People just stopped being “plant people” it seems…

    That’s when I did when someone in my family knocked over my Monstera and broke it, I cut off all the cuttings and put them in a very tall vase. That keeps them from falling over. I put them on top of my aquarium by using leftover dog gates. They always have extra pieces and they are made out of steel. It allows you to keep your plants in a high humidity area on top of the aquarium I ended up with five plants, because my Monstera was still very small at the time I had only had it two or three months now I have lots of babies

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  8 місяців тому +1

      You can propagate it anytime… they are quite tough. I would let it acclimatize into your home environment first though, maybe 6-8 weeks after caring for it right

  • @nehajamdade2983

    When we propagate then does the mother plant get new single leaves from single branch or does it split into 2 new branches
    Because I want to make my monstera bushy

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  7 місяців тому

      It depends, for sure its 1 but I’ve had up to 3 heads before. Depending on your environment, and the health of the plant.
      Theres actually a technique… of notching right above a node to encourage new branching. Perhaps you can consider looking into it.

    So only when propagating you change the water every 3 weeks? Is it bad to change the water daily for your water plants? My plants are giving off new leaves like crazy , my Alocasia , Adansonii , a leaf every week. Peace lily. I sometimes change the water 2xs a day .

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  8 місяців тому

      I believe plants release a type of chemical into the water that activates rooting hormones. Changing water often washes away this important chemical. I would love to do a test to see if thats true though! Maybe an upcoming episode idea

  • @andrespalomino353
    @andrespalomino353 8 місяців тому +1

    Rooting plants release water soluble rooting hormone into the water to help encourage root growth! Thats why bunching them together helps them during water propogation!!

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  2 місяці тому +1

      Its sickness could be attributed to many possibilities. Sometimes repotting is not enough to fix the problem, in fact, a sick or stressed out plant may even degrade if repotted.

    Was kann ich zum Düngen nehmen, da meine Pflanze mit kleinen Fliegen befallen ist

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  8 місяців тому

      The small flies may be fungus gnats. They usually live in soil that is too wet.
      1) Try to keep the top soil dry for weeks at a time, by watering only from the bottom of the pot (bottom watering)
      2) you can find slow release pesticide in your area to put on the top soil, the chemicals will slowly seep into the soil to kill the babies of the flies. But make sure you have no children or pets around.

    Hi! I did this exactly with mine… the cuttings rooted with 100% success, but all the new growth is tiny baby leaves with no fenestrations. Even the mother plant is kicking out a bunch of baby leaves but they’re all tiny 😢 could it be from not enough light?? Thank you for your time!! I love your channel 🙌🏼

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  8 місяців тому

      It could be a lot of factors:
      1) maturity of the stem for the cutting
      2) how much nutrients were store in those stem to begin with/health of the cutting
      3) nutrient provided when potting them up
      4) light level
      5) absence of pest/disease
      6) humidity levels (but i find this factor is almost negligible)

    • @lisechoukroun7761
      @lisechoukroun7761 8 місяців тому

      @@onlyplants ok! i didn't know all of those could play a part. The leaves all look healthy but maybe a lighter green than i'd like, so maybe its both nutrients and light. I saw another video that showed someone pruned the baby leaves to let the plant send more energy to the bigger ones... maybe that would help. Ill try more light, nutrients and humidity for sure (I live in the desert😁) Thank you so much !!

      Go get something called Hydrogaurd, and I believe it's made by "Botanicare." .5ml which is the same as 1/2 milliliter each time you change the water out of 1 quart worth of water. You can mix by the gallon as well. Just follow the directions and this will keep the roots clear and clean of root rot and any other pathogens. Hydrogaurd works fantastic at keeping the water clear of pathogens. It's made from a beneifial Baccilus bacteria I believe, it adds life. Anyways, it's good stuff, you can even use it in soil or just water. Hope this helps.
