I was with my guy for 12 years. He passed away. I was not notified because I didn't exist. I miss him but I can't show that emotion. Maybe things would have worked out differently if he would have stayed.
Does anyone else watch this songs reaction just to see if they understand what it’s really about? It’s crazy! Most don’t catch it! 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
The backstory of this song is that the singer, Jennifer Nettles, was going through a divorce when she wrote and recorded it. Her husband was cheating, yet she wrote the lyrics from the perspective of the other woman. However she was obviously overcome by her own grief while trying to film the video.
she had already planned on writting this song BEFORE all this took place. It was meant to be a mirror to a Riba song. Then all this personal stuff came up.
@@eddiebready23 She wrote it from the other woman's perspective just to show the cheater isn't just hurting and using one person a lot of the time. A lot of character to realize that and empathize.
MAYBE THIS WILL SET THINGS STRAIGHT Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles Solves Fan-Fueled Mysteries! None of the rumors that have been swirling around her emotion-packed smash, 'Stay' are true either -- that Jennifer is that 'other woman' begging her man to stay. But because she tears up each time she sings it, her audience tends to tear up right along with her. "As a storyteller, I take that as a compliment," says Jennifer. "Fortunately, it is not my own story ... but as a songwriter, I enjoy writing as a storyteller, exploring characters and telling other people's stories." The other member of Sugarland is Kristian Bush, and although he and Nettles are very close, they insist it is like a brother-sister relationship and that this song is NOT autobiographical. It has been fourteen years since Sugarland’s “Stay” became the country duo’s first chart-topping hit to solely be written by the duo’s one-half, Jennifer Nettles. Nettles actually wrote the ballad four years prior to its release. It was inspired by Reba McEntire‘s Grammy Award-winning song, “Whoever’s in New England,” that tells the predicament of a wife who thinks her man is having an affair. However, Nettles decided to tackle it from a different point of view. While there are a myriad of songs written from the viewpoint of a person betrayed by a lover, Nettles could not find one that sings from the perspective of the other two people involved. The singer-songwriter noted that most people did not realize that even those who are doing the cheating get hurt too. So, Nettles chose to put the other woman’s perspective in a song - and the moment she did, she was overwhelmed with emotions that “Stay” pretty much wrote itself. Even though Nettles has never lived the track’s storyline, she knew the subject of cheating and betrayal is something many listeners could relate to.
Great reaction. I will add something to this narrative though. After 27 years active duty I've witnessed both men and women return home after a long deployment to find out there were things like this happening while they were gone. Many people come down on the "side" person without understanding that they were deceived from the beginning and have already fallen in love...
I very much understand the other side of that coin. I've been the other guy and found out later. Once I knew what was up, I knew immediately what to do next. It hurt like hell, but it had to end. 😢
I just stumbled on this reaction by you. While this is a heartbreaker, it's one of my favorites. I've been in this situation and it hurt like hell. It wasn't all his fault, I had to take responsibility for my part. Ultimately, I'd rather have honesty and get my feelings hurt, than to have dishonesty and get my heart broke. Hopefully, we all learn from our mistakes.
You are spot on with those words LadyGator. It just sucks that most of us learn that lesson too late. I've been there myself. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
thx eddie b! jennifer nettles is great ! - love ur music spirit ! just saw u react to gabriel henrique - singin whitney ! loved it ! - i got one for u that u might like ! - cuz we love music - just sayin! - country girl meets beyonce ! hahah - i watch this all the time - enjoy i hope - just love ya - ua-cam.com/video/sCBwvaEGyns/v-deo.html
This is actually backwards. It’s the other woman finally standing up for herself and saying he needs to say with his wife. She needs more than what he can give her.

Thanks for actually listening, reactors do this without listening and things get super-judgy.
You said one of the most profound thing I've heard in years: "Memories, man. Damn." Exactly.
You didnt get it. SHE IS THE OTHER WOMAN.
I figured that out later. Lol

I didn't realize that was the deal. Interesting way to make the song. I don't envy the situation. Thanks for the comment Susan.

Music is about making us feel and I am grateful for it... 🙏 If someone doesn't feel this then they need to check for a pulse.
Great reaction. 👍😊
😭😭😭😭😭😭
That's me every time I see her pain.
She wrote this about the other woman
THanks so much, love to see a man who can actually vocalize feelings. Wishing you happiness to you and your family.
Thanks for the nice comment. 👍

Love the song but don't care for the "other woman status " or the cheating spouse. You should check out Stuck like Glue video by them. So funny
Very selfish. We trust you 'Men"..until you r confirmed a cheater
This is not a “the other woman song”. It was sung from the prospective of the wife knowing her husband was going to the other woman.
This is actually backwards. It’s the other woman finally standing up for herself and saying he needs to say with his wife. She needs more than what he can give her.
wrong.. another call from home proves it is was the perspective of the other woman
Nope. You are backwards. This IS from the perspective of "the other woman"
