lol no they don't. Empire does. The only thing that is possibly good about vlandians is if their cav gets a couch lance. But even still, destriers are slower than other horses, and cataphracts have longer lances still LOL. Their infantry and archers are all inferior.

@stevenhooten4275 has more to do with map location and economy. Sturgian towns are poor and you get a movement penalty in snow, making defense extremely difficult. Vlandia starts with 3 more clans, rich towns, and the best position on the map.
In a pitched battle with equal numbers however, Sturgian shieldwalls typically beat vlandia.
