I’m half native and I agree horse archers/ light cavalry is very overpowered, what we would do ( on the plains ) is we would spring out of no where and encircle the enemy, then hang off the side of the horse and shoot a bow or a gun under the horses neck and holding on by biting on to the horses mane coupled with squeezing our legs on the horses body. The way we’d shoot a bow made it so we could get 4 or 5 arrows in the air in seconds. When we were done the enemies would be filled with hundreds of arrows and look like a porcupine.

Horse archers are even more op if you run the RTS camera with them. Split them into two groups and surround infantry with them. Since the firing is stationary it's more accurate, efficient, and you take fewer casualties from your horse archers running all over the map and into spears. TLDR: Run RTS camera and use them like Total War horse archers.

It is Easier with less than 3 formations (usually 2 equal ones) or 3 & have two on the flanks facing inwards & the third up front in the middle to draw them into your trap/net of arrows, then retreat the up front middle line backwards slowly as the infantry chase them, getting pelted in the sides by arrows. Works great most of the time. If they have Calvary, try to destroy them first & then proceed with the encirclment/ double side flank tactic. But you can also just ignore the Calvary for the most part & only take a few losses. If it’s just a few Calvary I sometimes ignore them. But if it’s a lot I usually try to destroy them first if I can manage to draw them away from their infantry. With two formations you just keep them on opposite sides of the enemy in lines & one side will be shooting into their backs.

Not against the horse archers with glaives you couldn’t…. Khans guards & their tier 4 & 5 counterparts would wreck your archers so hard on hold fire charge. As they also do against Calvary. They are the best heavy Calvary in the game when on hold fire command. & to top it off you can cycle back-and-forth between hold fire and not, so you can pelt them with arrows when they are not on your lines. As Mongolian I also play as Khuzait by making mongolic version. Baatar is the proper pronunciation meaning "Hero". Russians when they were under Mongol rule copied the word "Bogatir" from original Mongolian word Bagatur.
Horse archers are only OP because the AI is braindead and won't use it's heavy cavalry properly or never has enough. If you focus them with enough heavy cavalry, they have no chance.

Now I feel compelled to laugh every time you say cow because in PL there is a word written "kał" with the same pronounciation and its meaning is technical word for shit
in the first game the AI didn't use horse archers very well and tended to get them killed, but some modders fixed it and the fix was adopted for warband so it wasn't too bad then. this time they made sure to get the horse AI good, but they didn't do so well on the polearm AI, so countering melee cavalry and melee cavalry are not as good as archers and normal foot troops. this makes the horse archers seem massively overpowered as light cavalry can't chase them down effectively and they have some extra buffs to ensure the AI doesn't mess them up. ontop of this retreating and reengaging is now a viable strategy unlike in warband and before, which means that running out of arrows isn't nearly as big of a problem as it was in the previous games. fixing polearms might render horse archers much weaker against armies with lighter cav to chase down the horse archers, and make it so that running out of arrows means a lot of death for the lighter horse archers going into melee. we will just have to wait and see how it develops.
I believe it is not overpowered. Ashkanian's horse archers used to run and hit enemy and they were very successful in many battles. They were divided in small groups and each group pretended retreating in different directions. The enemies usually chased them and in that moment the archers used to shoot backwards in a surprising method.
I once played musket testing and I kept hitting shots from centimeters of hitbox and he said "Man is Simo himself" And now I know what he meant, great video though
