I love the way you blend with one brush. I agree,, using several brushes are a little complicated. And super great tip on picking up just a little bit of paint to blend.

Great demo! Thank you!
Animals-art and plants ❤😊
Very good indeed
You make it look so easy and I KNOW it is not For me anyway do think my biggest mistake was changing brushes. Next piece I will try not to do that. Thanks so much! Hope to do another piece soon. I have a little side table I want to do. Bummer it has so much leg.
Chris Pyle hi Chris! Thank you for watching.... it really just takes doing it over and over until you get your style. I have a buffet I will be doing soon. I will film it. Keep going 🤗
Thank you. Funny I can cover 11 foot walls, backsplashes, toilets, mirror surrounds, furniture and cabinets with these massive glass mosaic projects and stymied by a little paint. We all have our niche . I still have some pieces left to paint that is not already covered in glass. Not selling anything Just doing it for me. I really feel I understand it better watching you do it. It is not quite the same blending method as others do.
I would really love too paint my coffee table and end table, and sofa table it looks, easy but, Don't know how to start. This is pretty when finished. Maybe some day I will get the nerve.
Look at you in 12/2018 using a water mister to blend! I remember you mentioning in a fairly recent video...been doing it....( took to bootcamp) love your videos...thank you for sharing😊k
Lol! You have a good memory
I love how your pieces turn out! What kind of brush do you use? And do you need a protective coat over this paint? Thank you so much!
Cori Baldwin I use the Cling on S50. And I sell them. Windmillvintagedesigns.com
Yes the paint needs to be waxed or sealed with a sealer
Thank you so much 🤗🤗
I know a lot of people who do paint techniques and decoupage who now hate chalk paint and have gone back to water based enamel and acrylic.. Wall paint.. It was a fad. No, never again thanks. Huge problems a year or 2 down the line. The wax gets all sticky and dirt or marks will not budge, it becomes part of your paint effect!
Thank you. Your video will help me with my project. Question do you let the paint dry between colors?
I usually don’t... DIY dries so fast that it does sometimes... then the mist of water makes it blend again
@@VintageMakeoverswithMelanie thank you so much for your quick reply. This is very helpful.
Would be nice to see what you got at the end. Thank you
Awesome. How do you prep your pieces??
Leonard Martin I start with a good cleaning solution... usually krud cutters. Tsp works well also. If it’s not bad then vinegar and water is good. I don’t sand unless the surface is damaged-or super shiny
I will prime with Wise Owl primer.. if I am going white.. or cabinets.
Excellent!! Thanks. And love your vids, especially the blending. My wife wants a beachy look in the bedroom any color suggestions for blending a beach effect???
Leonard Martin for a calm beach look Apothecary and Bead Board would blend nicely... then keep the tops of the furniture wood if you can. You can find them on my site. Www.windmillvintagedesigns.com. If you want. Let me know if I can help
Would you demonstrate this on a table with very ornate legs?
I’m just making mud🙁
Mimi I don’t have one.... or I would 🤗
I have a table and china cabinet/hutch I want to refinish for our new home in florida. I want to do a casual beach/coastal vibe and was thinking of white washing or straight up painting them. The furniture is a mix of solid wood (hutch & table) and chairs solid wood in a blonde stain with some sort of light varnish finish on top. Suggestions? Thanks.
Lori Michels White sounds great. DIY bead Board would be perfect www.windmillvintagedesigns.com
True, however, I don’t wanna do a solid color. I know the baseboard of my house is going to be white my sectional is going to be a sand color in my walls are going to be a soft tan color.
Lori Michels so you would like to do this look with all neutral colors? Am I understanding your question?
@@VintageMakeoverswithMelanie yes, warm beach, coastal causal with neutral colors so my art is the punch of color.
Do you let the paint dry in between each color and use the water then or is the paint still wet each time? Sorry I am very new to this and love the blending technique!!
It doesn’t need to be dry... DIY will reactivate with water
Do I have to use chalk paint? Or can I just use regular paint?
Regular paint won’t blend the same... all chalk paints don’t blend the same. I use and sell DIY and Wise Owl because they do.
Do you let the first coat dry ? I really would like to know before I try this
andy bones I blend my paint while it’s wet for bet results
💯👍💚
I've done some beautiful dressers and tables with chalk paint. I used for decoupage boxes too. Don't think I'll EVER use it again... It gets filthy.. It's absorbent. And even after waxing... Which is a HUGE job, I've gone back to water based enamel or wall paint.. Much much better. It's IMPOSSIBLE to sand that chalk paint off little jewellery boxes etc for decoupage. It goes as hard as cement!!! It really pulls the dirt in and you cannot get it off no matter what you do. So I'm going to redo my dressers... And table.. So sad
Do you let each color dry first before putting on the next color?
No not on this piece... but sometimes I do
How do the drawers not get stuck after drying if they’re closed while painted? I’m new to chalk painting.
Sometimes it will take a good tug to get them out the first time.
@@VintageMakeoverswithMelanie Does the paint peel off some when you open them the first time?
I always try to open when they are still wet. Then I go back with a wet towel or sanding block to smooth and correct what may have gone over the lip of the drawers. Pealing has not been a thing I can remember. But my paint doesn’t have latex or acrylic. So maybe that’s is why
Tell me how you blend?
Are u letting each color dry before the next?
The Real Real Housewife the paints blend much better when they are damp. Use I misting bottle to spray it if it gets to dry
But do u not let it dry at all? U just go straight into next color after base color? Wouldn’t it blend like a new color?
The Real Real Housewife yes exactly! That’s what I want for fluid blending. If I don’t want a blended look then laying the paint... or layering the colors then I would let it dry. I like smooth blended looks
can i use chalk paint ?
Yes you can
Great job! What brush are you using may I ask.
www.windmillvintagedesigns.com/product/synthetic-bristle-brush/
The best brush. Hands down my favorite
shoot, wished there was a finished photo, it always look so different after the top coat or wax on it. will you put up a photo here? I don't do insta gram, don't know how.
I’m sooo sorry. But that sold a while back. I empty my phone every now and then do to storage
Hey friend! just found you on here! sending u some love! hope you're doing well! miss u!
Girl UPcycled Studio hi Kelly! Thank you. And back atcha🤗
With all that paint around the drawers, how do they not stick when opening?!?
Just open them before they dry completely. Wipe the lip and your all good
Are u drying between colors?
Not usually. It blends better when damp
This just popped up on my feed so I watched. Maybe it was my audio but it was hard to understand you and I didn’t really like the blend that you did . It didn’t look blended . It had blotches all over it. Was that intended ? The black in the upper corner was way too dark and that’s what looked blotchy to me plus other areas Perhaps an intro about who you are would also help . Sorry for the criticism . I will give another video a try.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave you comments.
Were u waiting for it to dry in between colors? Which brush would u recommend? I just want to buy a good one. Thx.
Hi. No, on that piece I did not wait for it to dry. The brush I use is the Cling On S 50. www.windmillvintagedesigns.com/product/synthetic-bristle-brush/. The only brush you will ever buy
Good demo on blending the paint. Paint your corners! It bothered me the whole time watching the video.
Lol!!! I got them. Thank you for noticing.
Good content but no music please. A lot of content creators use music & it takes away from what they're trying to show you.
I’m sorry.... while editing I was to sleep without the music. I will work on finding a comfortable medium
Hate to see how women has to destroy goodlooking furniture.
You don’t have to see anything you don’t like. Keep on scrolling 😉
I'm sorry dear but this is not a blend. ..it's a mess
I’m sorry for you.
