@@ryy1704 Faces are as complex as buildings though. You have to deal with a hierarchy of shapes and three dimensional forms, as well as planes at different angles. Drawing is as much about architecture as it is about sculpting
That was very instructive. Everything that I picked out that you had at the wrong angle, or wrong size, you fixed as you worked up from your sketch, pushing here, and pulling a little there. It’s a great lesson in starting fearlessly, and working out the details later. Thanks.
Yeah, it's asking a lot to pump out a drawing looking perfect from the beginning. You put down marks, work out your midtones and then flush out shadows and highlights. There are a lot of corrections. I think if more beginners saw this, they would be less afraid to get started.
I love the way you started the face outline then blended, I always found it easier to erase the shades to get a softer outline and match the face shape! This could speed up my portraits, thank you for sharing!
It is incredible when a "Drawing" is really achieved, and it is seen much further than the photograph on which we are basing ourselves, obtaining a fantastic, original work, where the intention of the copy is dwarfed and ceases to be important by giving it a new own value. Wow talent! Thank you for your work
You are a real talent. Here in UA-cam so many people are drawing, sketching, doing realistic portraits, but most of them are tracing the picture before or using grid method. Then they just shading like realistic. But your piece is the real art. Really love to watch it.
I've been drawing for years and i don't even feel happy with my style, i'm so impressed on how amazing some people can be and how skilled they are, beautiful drawing
My exact thought. There are lot of hidden steps that are quiet important. Expecially with this technique. And it's not just smudging. There is a way too big difference.
Your magical reality is even better than reality, with your tangible imagination, a key to joy and true happiness! Some sketches are beautiful but not everything has the aura like that one
I think he's drawing vertically. Holding your paper while standing and drawing is the kinda tedious and would ruin your posture 😛 No one really does it.
Anyone with a brain would know this is a time-lapse video I think he means that he never works on a part for too long then works on another part after spending a while working on something. Then he goes back to that part after spending time on others. I think it's because he might overwork one part which would then ruin the drawing.
Exactly..i kinda sketch myself and watch lots of sketching videos . What he basically does is avoid spending a lot of time on 1 part so that he doesn't overdo it or just to shift perspective and gain a bigger picture from time to time coz a common mistake lots of beginners do is assiduously sketch just an eye or nose for so long and in the end realise that it is a bit tilted or farther or smaller wrt to the proportion..
Don't want to ruin your comment because what you said is wholly true, but to some beginners who are maybe reading this, I just want to say that tracing isn't a bad thing. Quite the contrary in fact. It can help you with things you struggle with (like hands or folds or hair, etc.) and you can slowly improve through tracing, then moving on to copying and then one day you can do it without any help. The important thing when tracing and copying is just: DON'T GO AROUND SAYING IT'S YOUR ART AND CREDIT THE ORIGINAL ARTIST! You can of course also learn by drawing what you see in the real world and slowly improve, but everyone has their own way, so... yeah. Okay, I'm done.

@@FanisyFreak Making art has nothing to do with any technical talent whatsoever.
