the beggining with the ride is really interesting, cuz it's not just straight 16th notes, he throws some odd subdivisions in the accents making that build up even tastier
I'm in this video, just to the left of his drumkit! My Amish beard stands proud. First time seeing this guy play, and was highly impressed. Super nice guy, too!
@4:14 that's definitely the 2nd verse beat from Glassjaw's "Gold", him and Durijah played some Coloring Book songs together on two drumsets at the 11/29/13 shows. Rymer's a huge GJ fan
That's from Gold, he's played live with GJ on a 2nd set for some Coloring Book songs. He would sure be an amazing addition to that band if he ever happened to join them... ;)
Fucking intense, and creative to for that matter. Drummers like this are interesting. Its all beat and no fills. Motherfucker killed it though, thats for damn sure
one of the most overrated drummers. People either think he's good or not, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. By saying he's nothing special, in no way am I saying that "I" am. Go watch Matt Gartska, Blake Richardson, Alex Rudinger, Chris Dave,Vinnie Couliata, Dennis Chambers,Bill Stewart, Mark Guiliana, Dave Weckl, Chris Coleman.... then come back and tell me otherwise kid

He does more just making that ride sing than most drummers can do with a whole kit. That was really well done.

New century jazz drums. I want to listen that with group like ZU. Ingeniously.
one of my favorite drummers!
Probably the only place where so many white dudes can keep time while clapping
Hahahaha
Wagner could keep good time
Ikr? It can be painful listening to a crowd of white dudes try and clap in time at a show.
And What’s the deal with airline peanuts?

Old comment I know but he played on Glassjaw's Material Control, so kinda cool how it goes full circle :)
@@Maffoo wait wait,, whattttt i just found material control recently, billy rymer played on that album?!!
holy shit it totally is
Bunch of drummer standing around thinking “I can do that.”
Lol. Great comment dude
Easily one of the biggest inspirations for me as a drummer. Billy, you're a god among men.
lol is that matt halpern like right behind him at the end?
Indeed it is.
So much power behind your strokes. You were the first drummer to replace Penney who deserves the spot your in.
Gil Sharone replaced Pennie before him.
Yea I know... The statement means he is the best replacement, since Penney left.
Nice Job Billl!!! Wish I coulda been there this year!
HAHAHA! I see matt and ben hanging out behind the kit!
LOL...yeahh!!
Legend
Don't know if it was just me, but 4:01 reminded me of Mouth of Ghosts.
Tony Williams esque ride intro, sooooo fucking tasty
Well...That was just goddamn awesome.
So much going on in the world right now.. the past 5 minutes have been a beautiful little break from it all.
That groove at 3:27
Amazing, Billy. Please come back to perform in Israel soon!
4:15 sounds like some GlassJaw.
"Gold"
I saw another clinic type solo where he plays a snippet from "Mu Empire" too. He must be a fan. Smart man.
Colton Hubbard do you have a link?
That's from Gold, he's played live with GJ on a 2nd set for some Coloring Book songs. He would sure be an amazing addition to that band if he ever happened to join them... ;)

Fucking intense, and creative to for that matter. Drummers like this are interesting. Its all beat and no fills. Motherfucker killed it though, thats for damn sure
Is that a 20¨ ride?
Damn
Does dat cam have a compressor? :O
time to woodshed
Reminds me a lot of Charlie Watts not just as energetic.
He's OK. Meg White and Ringo Starr are way better though.
WTFUCK???? Are you kidding me????
It's like watching a 12 year old trip over the bull in the China shop just so he can not break any dishes. Next please.
I'll watch 12 yer old trip over the bull in the China shop so they can not break any dishes more often then. Thanks.
So that means this is amazing. Right?
Nothing special
Obviously someone thinks so because he is endorsed by Zildjian and playing at NAMM in front of all these people who also think so.

@@hddrummer8838 you're also nothing special
@@hddrummer8838 Hey man!?! This drum solo is not the best of Billy Rymer.
how do you make hitting one cymbal seem so fucking badass?
HI
GuitarHeroAddict112 WHY THE FUCK DO I SEE YOU IN THE COMMENTS ON ALL OF THE NON RELATED ROCK BAND VIDEOS I WATCH?!
wtfnumbnuts idk where you guys found this but I caught this from Dillinger's facebook
BongOfDestinySH by subscribing to the beast that is Billy Rymer for me
It was in my sub box too lol
Are you currently really behind the counter at a DD in NYC?
Ooooo Baby (in Berry White voice)
The only drummer i know that can make his kit sound like a bad running car in a good way !
Wow. I’ve never seen a solo so compositionally driven. Amazing technique good god.
Final scene of whiplash.. nuff said.
Dat foot
What a fun day :) I'm glad someone got video. Thanks for sharing, Billy!!
You're a BEAST man!
This guy surely knows something about music.
The only thing I regret now is that I haven't seen this video before
5:20.
Is that Matt Halpern in the grey hoodie on the right? You never know who's watching you!
Looks like Halpern standing next to Ben Weinman.
le wild Halpern appears!
"not quite my tempo" 🤣 🤙 no cap no cap on a stack frfr
That would feel so awkward.
so close to audience. unacceptable
