I don't know about anyone else but your advice/technique worked for me! I have a only ONE straw hat and, yeah, I bought it at Dollar Tree in 2013..Two Thousand and Thirteen and I only paid One Dollar for it. But, you know what? It's held up for those 9 years and only looks a bit grimey since, like you, I wear it in certain circumstances and not others. So, applying your method as shown my Dollar Tree Straw Hat now looks like a $27.00 Tractor Supply Company Straw Hat. I heartily THANK YOU!!!
Don't worry about your hat getting dirty. A straw western hat is meant to be worn in heat and dust. You're going to sweat in it. If you want a pristine hat, your only real option is to have two, one you wear daily and another you save for less-casual occasions. Nobody cares if your hat's doesn't look store-new, take care of it as best you can and that's all you need.

I have not, i believe thats a new can for busch light correct? I dont typically drink busch, more of a miller lite kinda guy. But recently ive been drinking mainly Shiner products, my favorite is shiner orale.
I used water and little dish soap in spray bottle and tooth brush to clean it real good and went with lines straw pattern. ps. little super glue fix little small spots work know sounds silly but works for weak spots
Your videos are awesome hoss! You are correct about the stains from the inside sweat band when someone sweats. Tried using one of those “magic eraser” pads to clean the sweat stains. It was an exercise in futility.
Whenever I know I'm going to get grimy I wear my "grimy situation" hat. Every so often I use some water and soap to knock the big stuff off at least. But there are those surprise situations where a good cleaning is needed on a non-grimy hat.
are all straw hats really stiff? I need a new hat for summer; gonna be outside with the kids working pigs a lot. But the super stiffness of the straw hats is uncomfortable to me :(

HELP!!! QUESTION - I bought my husband a light colored Stetson straw cowboy hat for his birthday, and after wearing it in the sun every day for a week, the inner hat band had bled its green dye through to the outside of the hat. We tried s rubbing it and it won’t come off! I was thinking that we should just spray paint the whole straw hat, with brown paint, to cover up the green stain, or maybe dye the whole hat dark brown, but my husband thought that might not work.. So my question is : How do I remove this green stain that bled onto the straw hat, from the inter hat band??? Also, if we can’t get the stain out, is there a specific. sue or paint that we can use to color the straw hat darker, to cover the stains?
A lot of that is just sweat and it is pretty normal for straw hats. My straw hat has plenty of sweat stains and removed some of the lacquering. I have had a distinct green stain on my father's old straw hat, I think it might have been the corrosion from the eyelets. Those never came out for me. When my straw hats get really bad and don't hold their shape anymore, I just get a new one. I generally have one work hat, and one nicer hat that I do every day tasks in. you can try a gentle brush with some water and soap, maybe a little hydrogen peroxide. But I would test this in a area that isn't as visible like under the brim. As for staining the hat a darker color, I haven't tried that and don't have any recommendations for you unfortunately.
I dont wear a cowboy hat often. I do have a really nice one. But my outside hat, i wear it mowing this time a year. Its kinda cruddy looking now. I guess i oughta clean it haha
Probably just lysol if it is just for the inside. If it does stain it would be on the inside the crown of the hat. Just dont go overboard with it. Test it out in the back an area that doesnt really get seen to see if it stains it or not
It helped me. It validated that the leather and sweat stains on my Resistol Cisco straw hat are there to stay. Oh well... thanks for sharing!

Ya its just a new can, tastes the same as regular busch.
I've had my straw hat for 24 years and have never cleaned it, its yellowed and dingy and almost took it to get it steam cleaned, too embarrassed
For a hat that lasted that long quite a feat. I think a nice good clean would bring it back its value.

Good quality ones are more stiff than felts. There are cheap palm leaf hats that are pretty floppy
