- Howdy, in this video I show how I was taught to clean my felt hat. This includes light cleaning dirt and dust, as well as a short segment showing what I use to remove/lessen deeper stains. This only applies to felt cowboy hats. I hope yall can get something out of this video
I just inherited a beautiful felt hat from dear grandpa, and now I want to do it justice, clean it appropriately and wear it to honor him. I miss him. Thank you for your video.

I use a hat sponge I had and little water and dishsop for light clean work for my.hat. it work for.me.was easy quick fix all materials I had but it work.came out clean

Glad I could help! I am sure Canada has plenty of cowboy products, in Alberta or Saskatchewan but i dont know if that is local lol
Unfortunately I live in rural Southern Ontario where there are only a very few small places that sell western wear and products.
I’ve been wearing cowboy hats for years now on and off. But these videos are nice to have since I’ve been wearing them more consistently now.

@@smackdadious now that I went from farming to a Diesel mechanic, it’s hard to avoid grease and oil. But when I’m farmin or truckin it’s on now 😁
May I use baking soda to remove persperation or greasy stains?

I got a Stetson skyline Sahara recently, and have a hard time trying to tell if it's a light or dark hat sometimes due to the lighting, would you say a light brush and cleaner would work or dark brush and cleaner? Sorry for the long question.
The brush color only matters to help you tell which one has cleaned which. And that is a good question, from a google search it is one of those inbetween hats. The light color might be too much as it matches a silver belly color best i have noticed. A darker cleaner might be better. If I were you I'd go to your local western shop and ask them as they have it in person and have more experience than me. Or get some cleaner of both colors and try it on a small area that isnt easily seen to test it out. Sorry this aint the straightforward answer you were hoping for and I hope you get that all squared away man

Hey what brand of hat is the pecan colored hat you are wearing? It's a nice looking hat, also what's the difference between the powder hat cleaner you were using vs the spray kind, is the powder granular cleaner you use better over the spray in your opinion? Sorry for the long question and I appreciate any info you can provide. Thanks

Hey dude we talked a bit ago about hats and stuff, but I was wondering if you know anything about the Resistol Cody Johnson 6x SP cowboy hat, very specific I know but I’ve been looking and idk, if its simpler to ask, is a resistol 6x hat good?
I dont know much about that hat but I have had some good resistol hats before. I usually go for 10x but that is a bit more pricy. I tend to get an open crown, mainly to get the shape I want and I have a weird head shape that some preshaped hats dont fit me right but resistol has been a good brand to me in the past. hope this helps and sorry for late response
@@smackdadious yeah it did, and you’re fine, I would like to get a hat like Cody jinks fast hand, but it’s over 2000 dollars, but idk if I could just get a 10x open crown and get them to shape it like his hat, idk if they are allowed to, if that was the case people wouldn’t buy his they’d just copy it

Maybe, i hardly brush mine much but when its dirty or im trying to look good on a date I brush it of haha

Hey just getting into cowboy hats and i am really liking the one you have one whats the exact style if i could ask?
The hat is a rodeo king felt hat, and I get the crown shaped in a Gus. I had a short curl to the ends on this hat, less pronounced than other hats I have.
What is the height on the front of your hat?

Light cleaner for light colors. If you use dark cleaner on light colors they will discolor the hat

Would a granite grey Stetson be dark or light cleaner?
That is a good question, maybe dark. But light might also work. Maybe try dark first in an area that isnt visible like near the sweatband on the underside in the back just in case. I tried the light on that pecan and it was too light, small doses worked though. Try going to a western shop and getting their opinion as well, sorry I wasnt more concise with the answer. Those inbetween colors are tough to discern for me

Depends on how much beer got on there. And I ain't even gonna ask how it got there haha.
Usually the felt cleaner powder or spray with a felt sponge gets it out.
If it doesn't try going to your local hat store and asking someone there. I'd hate to give you advice that either wouldn't work or would damage your hat

Do you have a way to get sweat marks off the inside?
Not really, the felt cleaner might help but inside the hat no one will see so not a huge deal. Also most hats come with a liner that help reduce sweat damage. Try using the felt cleaner on it, see if that helps

Not usually, pretty cheap, but it could be wool or just a work hat so a cheap beater hat
