Great review about hat numbers...I just started wearing cowboy hats and my first hat was a greeley. But I've been looking at cheaper hats to wear working and I didn't like anything under 300. So I ended up with a stetson skyline black. Did you know Stetson coats thier black hats with black powder....it rubs off. I thought something was wrong, but stetson said they do this to accentuate the hats blackness

I have a 6x skyline. I dint know why you would tell people to but a 4x hat the higher x factor means more water resistant.i sell a lot of hats and one of the first questions I ask is are you going to wear it in the rain if the answer is yes I try to move them away from 3x and 4x hats its more economic to buy a higher quality hat once than to buy a lower quality hat several times because the weather ruins them.

Mine too have one in black. Too bad it's a regular oval not long oval had to stretch it to make it fit better but it is a beautiful hat

I’ve got a rancher with a 4 inch brim. I wanted a 3 1/2 but I could not find one. Are y’all able to trim brims?

Yes, you can trim any hat by taking it to your local western outfitter and they will usually have a station where you can reshape/trim hats
