    Nic. How do I say this so that it comes across as the complement it’s meant to be...I ADORE your authenticity. Your lighting doesn’t blow out your face. You don’t use filters. You ZOOM IN and we get to see it all. This is so rare in the world of photo and video editing. Thank you for always being my source for trustworthy information!

      I've tried a couple of these foundations and many others, but I always always have the same problem with liquid/cream foundations; they seem to separate on my nose from the very beginning when I apply them. Or they just kind of don't stick in some areas, and when I try to apply more on top it just makes it worse, the foundation that's underneath gets wiped away when I put more on top. It's like this even when I've put a primer underneath. Also doesn't matter how I apply it, it's the same with a brush, a sponge and my hands.The only type of foundation that doesn't give me this problem is loose mineral foundation, but I would love to be able to use my liquid ones as well... I have combination skin with an oily nose and dryish cheeks and normal skin elsewhere. Could someone give me any tips perhaps?

      Skylark Hi! I am oily on my nose, forehead and chin so I will wash my face with a daily face wash first and focusing on those areas. I use a gentle one by elf cosmetics. That way my liquid foundation goes on evenly. After properly moisturizing my skin, I'll put a pore filling primer on my T zone and a moisturizing primer on my cheeks. After that has set for a minute next I'll go in with my liquid foundation. I'll even top it off with a dusting of loose mineral powder for extra coverage and to set it. I have fine lines so if I go in with 2 layers of liquid foundation it settles into my fine lines.
      This is for when I want a medium coverage.
      Also I have discovered the Wet n' Wild brand Cushion Foundation. It's perfect for touching up areas where your foundation has rubbed off like tip of nose or chin.
      On days I want light coverage I'll use color correcting primer by NYX (pink/Rose) because I'm more yellow and a tinted spf and concealer on my nose and other areas to cover hyperpigmentation/blemish.
      Hope this helps you out somewhat.

      Diana Guevara I also use Physicians Formula Healthy foundation which is simular. It's medium to full but can be sheared out with moisturizer to be a tinted moisturizer and it is beautiful that way. I also love Chanel vitalumiere and I feel it's the same as the Fit Me but Chanel last a bit longer throughout the day.

    • @norcimorci
      @norcimorci 6 років тому +3

      Cheri tislotus the fit me dewy is my favorite too! It also has the best color match of all foundations I've ever tried. My skin is also very dry so that one feels comfortable too. The only minus is that it isn't transfer proof. But dewy foundations rarely are.

    • @cherim5717
      @cherim5717 6 років тому

      Nori Lori have you tried Physicians formula healthy foundation? It dries down but still has the glowy look. Also Flower beauty light illusions is dewy but dries down a bit more than the Fit Me. Not quite as flawless as the Fit Me but has mor3 lasting power. I get so many compliments on my skin when I wear the Fit Me. It's a beautiful formula.

      love this one: goes on skin beautifully even if it's really dry and flaky. Stays on pretty long time (at least in comparison with bobby brown stick foundation). Btw, I don't know why (maybe it's something in my skincare, or I need to buy a new bottle) but recently it has started to get patchy in t-zone.

    I'm 48ish, dryish skin with lots 'o pigment and my go-to drugstore foundations are 1. Revlon Colorstay (dry combo) - and it's a true medium to full coverage but it can feel heavy but it looks great. I also use 2. Milani conceal and perfect foundation and it's very similar to the Revlon but feels lighter. Color choice on the Milani was small and I use the lightest shade.

    The Revlon one is great but it is the one product I actually get rid of after some 6-9 months even if I don't go through it. Once it's not fresh it dries funny on the skin and makes any lines more visible. I have dry skin and use the one for dry skin.

    • @AaronW-ww4ds
      @AaronW-ww4ds 6 років тому +3

      Vidle v jidle get a pump for it and shake it because the ingredients do separate in the bottle and if you don't use a primer and moisturiser extremely well then it will sink into fine lines I used to buy it and never had that problem and the dry , normal and oil ones are all drying anyway because it's quite a thick formula and the thicker the formula the dry it'll be so it'll show every single imperfection from pores to fine lines and wrinkles

      Omg, I thought I was going crazy, I have the exact same experience with Revlon Colorstay, it starts off looking amazing on my skin, it's almost a dupe for Estee Lauder Double Wear but after quite a lot of usage it makes my skin look really cakey and fine lines look terrible! How weird, there must be something about the formula that reacts badly.

      IAB 2014 I actually never tried the gel before, might give it a go though ... I do agree that the shade range is very disappointing, you really are forced to get creative to make it match. I mean, 9 shades, 6 shades, 3 shades (excuse me?!): it's time for these brands to step up their game!

    I have the 24 hr Revlon foundation for oily skin as I have oily t zone combo skin. I love it for full coverage because it is build-able. I tend to have some redness in the cheeks as well and it evens that out well. I wore that as my foundation make up at Dragon Con (Atlanta's huge SciFi convention). This event happens every Labor Day (first Monday in Sept). Late August / Sept, we have near to 100 degree F temps sp seriously hot. Couple that with over 150 k people attending the convention between 5 hotels in downtown Atlanta, GA. GA is also humid as hell. This foundation didn't move, didn't melt, etc. I put it on at about 7:30 in the morning and past midnight that night, my foundation still looked great. I was kind of impressed. I don't wear it all the time as I feel it is a bit heavy for an everyday foundation but when I need to look flawless, I use it.

    maybelline fit me matte is my summer go-to! i ONLY use it with a damp beauty sponge because i find that brushes/fingers make it look too matte and powdery on my normal skin and can emphasize dryness. the sponge gives it a really nice satin/natural/borderline glowy finish and it has the longevity of a high end foundation (i switch to the dewy version during the cooler months). sidenote: dont buy revlon foundations if you have really yellow/olive undertones, their shades run really pink and oxidize a bit.

  • @NatalieValentina6
    @NatalieValentina6 6 років тому +135

    It always shocks me how few foundation shades are (generally) available outside of the U.S. Most of these foundations are made by U.S. brands, & are available in 15-20 shades (sometimes 30-40) over here.The UK especially, is so culturally diverse, that I'm surprised they're not bringing over a bigger selection (even if only online)...3 shades? WTF?

    • @4sweetdreams2
      @4sweetdreams2 6 років тому +8

      where I live it's amazing if any drugstore sells more than 3 shades of any foundation, and they're mostly all 3 shades of orange xD we just make it work as best as we can

    • @stephaniebrown6505
      @stephaniebrown6505 6 років тому +8

      Natalie Valentina the only thing I can think of is the store sizes. Smaller country, generally smaller store sizes and in most high street stores brands compete for space. Local stores tend to have smaller selections compared to larger department stores which many have to travel quite a distance to. They really should make more available online etc though. It's frustrating. I have olive skin, nothing special, however it can be hard to find a decent fit. I sometimes have to use a product that doesn't fit my skin type all because it matches my shade better.

    • @jovana_kocic
      @jovana_kocic 6 років тому +4

      Yup I agree. Here in macedonia all of my clients are in 3 shades max. but its so unfair to have no selection ...and what we do have is all terribly pink and yellow. So I tend to use Kryolan for the most part

I freaking love this foundation! I have quite an uneven skin tone that's prone to red patches, and this foundation sorts that all out for me, it's high coverage but feels so lightweight on the skin, and lasts really well. Appreciate your realistic review with bright lights, close shot but not overly bright lighting that is not possible in real life. Many UA-cam creates a review that looks like sooooo much effort has been put into creating that look plus the filter to make even the worse product looks great and with so much foundation that I know in real life, if I am standing before them, their makeup will look so heavy like wearing a mask, with all imperfections emphasized by the heavy makeup. Plus most reviewers are in their twenties, how bad can they look when they are so young :) I love your natural and real review with helpful information and your authentic opinion. Thank you!

    I have oily, red skin and live by Revlon Colorstay in Oily/Combo. Usually two layers around my nose does the trick, and lasts all day. I hate when I accidentally pick up the Dry version... They’re completely different and need different packaging! It looks really oily on me, light coverage, and doesn’t last at all. Of course it is for dry skin. It looks pretty at first though.

  • @wow2283
    @wow2283 6 років тому

    First I would like to say thank you for taking the time to do this, really appreciate it. Maybelline Satin Liquid is my drugstore holy grail! Its even better than the majority of higher end one I've tried. I've got a foundation graveyard of over 40 because I am such a true combination skin, but to the extreme, very oily t zone and bone dry everywhere else. I find it incredibly difficult to find one I truly like and only so far found a few. At the drug store Satin Liquid is perfection in a bottle! Never creases, stays in place, doesn't break me out, sits nicely, stays on top of nose, doesn't sit horribly on dry patches and lasts 8 plus hours. It has one downside and that is that it doesn't minimize pores, doesn't make them bigger though and you just need to put a pore primer on first. The Healthy Mix is a lovely one too! x

    I thought i would comment as although the Bourjouis healthy mix gel is rather dewy, I actually use it and I'm an oily skin type and it lasts a very long time on my skin. I also get so many lovely comments on my skin when I wear it. For an oily skin, the best way I find to wear it is to use a mattifying primer, then apply foundation with fingers or a sponge, press a setting powder into the skin over it to lock it in and then use a setting spray to take away the powdery look to the skin. It literally lasts all day and looks gorgeous :)

      I don't recommend it, if you have oily, acne-prone skin. It will cover very well and stay on too, but if you have some dry spots the foundation will show them. I have very oily and acne-prone skin and I use this foundation. I wish it didn't show my dry spots so much, because I love the formula and the lightest shade fits me very well. Most affordable foundations are too dark for me even in their lightest shade.

    I love these try on reviews of foundations. It does give the consumer a bit more information and feels more honest than the advertisements.
    I used the Rimmel breathable one and it is not very good. I have dry, sensitive skin and is approved by my allergist for specific skin allergies but I noticed as the hours wore on it started getting patchy and began flaking off in my t-zone (my dryers area of the face. 🤷🏻‍♀️weird, I know).
    It is also interesting to me that the Maybelline fit me has no SPF in the UK version because the ones here in the USA have octinoxate, an ingredient of chemical sunscreen which will make me break out and sensitize my face.

    Revlon colour stay - I have dry skin however I use to think I was oily and tried nearly every drugstore foundation out there. I used the oily version and now have the dry and wearing it day in day out I have notified a massive difference. Obviously Nic only tried it on for a moment and asked us to comment. It’s my holy grail now yes it is only medium coverage however day to day that is perfect for me but is buildable to full. I find using the RT sponge works best. It lasts all day especially when paired with a setting spray. As mentioned most drugstore foundations are geared to oily so as a dry skin girl I was struggling to find a decent foundation which wasn’t high end and expensive for everyday use! All the raves ones from UA-camrs seem to work brilliant with oily but terrible for dry, so if like me you have dry skin I would highly recommend this foundation! Xx

    I have the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable foundation and it's one of my favorite natural-looking foundation! My skin is very oily, and it lasts 12 hours on me if I set it with a bit of loose powder. I don't use the doe foot applicator to apply the foundation, I think you are supposed to dot it on your face and then blend it with a brush, beautyblender or your fingers, but I prefer to put it on the back of my hand because I have acne-prone skin and don't want to contaminate the whole bottle.

    The Bourjois healthy mix serum/gel is my absolute favourite, I’ve used it for years and years. I’ve tried others but always go back to it. I’ve used it when my skin was very oily and acne prone, and now where it’s more normal. It always looks flawless. I love it because it is UNDETECTABLE on my skin, looks exactly like bare skin in texture. So I’d imagine it would be good for dry skin too because I really don’t think it would cling. I also like that it’s yellow in tone as I used to find that very difficult to find at the drugstore (it’s easier to find now with maybelline fit me etc). But if you have a cool undertone you might struggle to find a shade.

    So helpful! I've got the Infallible one at the moment and even though it's definitely not 24h matte, I quite like it. My skin is a tricky combination with dryness but also quite a bit of oil around my t-zone, and I feel like my skin really eats foundation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! With this one my t-zone will get oily after about 5 hours which I usually fix with a bit of powder. However, as many foundations just disappear from my skin throughout the day, this foundation is still one of the most long lasting ones I've tried. :) I also sometimes use this around my t-zone and a lighter foundation elsewhere (if I've got time in the morning!).

    I have normal skin, a little shinier on the nose and quite dry smile lines. I use Revlon Colorstay for Combo/Oily since every review that I've found states that the difference between the two kinds is unnoticeable, however my colour - 150 Buff - is a little lighter and suits me better in Oily version vs. Dry (not sure why). It sits nicely on my skin, cakes a little in dry areas. Builds up very nicely (I used to use is under my eyes as a concealer). In my experience, look better if tapping is applied, rather than buffing with a brush. It is a nice foundation and lasts around 8 hours on me, than cracks on my nose. I mostly use it because the colour match is impeccable.
    I used to use Bourjois Healthy mix gel/serum back in my teenage years, when my skin was much more oily, and even then I loved it. It looks like real skin, buffs in beautifully, and nothing in the drugstore beats it in my opinion. If only they brought out more shades, I would leave Revlon for it ;)

    I have very very oily skin with dry patches, and I love the Nyx foundation. My skin is pretty clear, so it helps me to build when my skin gets bad or I want more coverage for a night out, but then using just one layer means it's light enough for general day use. I go between this and the Bodyshop clay foundation which is my absolute favourite. I'd highly recommend the Bodyshop clay foundation if you have oily skin (like the Nyx one it sets onto your face) and it offers a high coverage too. The Bodyshop will let you take a tester away as well so you can try before committing to buying it :) hope this helps!

    I do love the Rimmel one I always use Rimmel for foundation and mascara and I have oily skin .It doesn't irritate it at all that is what I love about it .

    Can I ask a dumb question please?! I’m a NW15 in MAC studio fix because I have pink tone in my skin but I hate being too pinky toned so was going to get a similar shade in NC. Is that a thing?! Does getting a cool toned foundation cancel out pink tones or will I just end up with a weird complexion? Even at my age and having used makeup religiously for 15-20 years I still don’t know what I’m doing.
    I’m looking to try some new drugstore foundations and this was really helpful 😊😊😊

      if you have a pink skin tone, in mac you would be in the NW line, however if you feel it is too pink you could mix the NC and the NW to make it more neutral. however, if you truly have pink undertones, it would look very odd to use a yellow tone. (i have very yellow undertones, and when i use a pink toned product i look crazy) in short, you could mix the yellow and pink tones to make a more neutral shade if you believe you run more neutral

      also, keep in mind you could always use a different foundation line or brand if you feel that you don't have a perfect shade in MAC so you wouldn't have to mix. i would remember to keep in mind "warm" in MAC is considered a pink tone and "cool" is considered a yellow tone. however, in almost every other brand, it is switched. (warm=yellow and cool=pink)

      Julia Aho thanks so much for replying Julia x I might try mixing the two to see if I get a more in between shade.

      Absolutely go for a more yellow or neutral shade. I'm very pink toned but if I used a pink toned foundation I end up looking too pink. A neutral or yellow toned foundation always looks much better on me. Which is why I can never use Rimmel foundations, they are much too pink. Bobbi Brown has a good selection of yellow toned foundations as does Maybelline.

      misswhiskeykittie thank you! I’m glad someone else has found the same thing. When I had my colour match at a makeup counter the girl advised that because I had a pink undertone then I needed a warm/pink toned foundation and when I said about getting a cool tone to counteract how pink my skin is she said no it doesn’t work like that so I’ve always bought pink toned foundation. Definitely gonna get a more neutral/cool toned now. Thank you for the advice ☺️
