I absolutely love that you all are still teaching us. Especially those of us that go back years with you all. We are getting older and need new technique and tips to address the things that come with age. Thank you!
Enjoying this series of masterclasses. Could you do one on contouring and inc enhancing contour for a 50+ age group . Not the Instagram look, but more to help lift and sculpt your skin and bone structure for my age group . Thanks from a make up junkie in her 50s who’d like to help gravity a little 😊
As we age we want LESS make-up, contouring is a lot of extra make up that just settles into lines and looks FAR better in magazines and film as opposed to in person. Most make up artists will steer you away or encourage you to just use the minimum amount of make up necessary.
Loving these videos! x I’d love to see a tips and tricks video on people with different skin issues. So someone with extreme pigmentation. Someone with extreme acne.. rosacea etc. I think that would be really interesting x hope you’re well nic xx
Thank you so much for doing this series, I’m finding it so helpful. I’m in my 50’s and I’ve had to rethink/ relearn how to apply my makeup to get the look I want. So many products are just not suitable for mature skin and the products and techniques I used to use just don’t work anymore. Xx
from someone with dark under eyes and blemishes more often than not, this was so helpful! thanks so much for taking the time to thoroughly explain and demonstrate!!!
I also just LOVE this series! I hope you will continue these master classes. You are such a wonderful makeup artist and teacher. Thank you so much!! ~Angie~
@Jaclyn Forbes I just discovered it. Surprisingly it has oil - which is great, but over a silicone under eye primer I wonder if it would pill. I’m on the fence - it’s nice but my eye has to get used to less coverage concealers (nothing covers them all the way, even layered). It’s frustrating.
I feel like everyone needs to see these videos. Going back to basics and going over things that you may have forgot is never a bad thing!! More videos like this please 😍 loved the foundation one too!! X
Love you...You are so talented, beautiful and smart as a whip. I really enjoy these master classes. You and your Sister bring real creative artistry back to makeup, yet you always make sure everyone watching knows they can have a go at it, and look beautiful. Thanks for all of your hard work and talent! Cheers!
I so appreciate the updated videos on the basics!! Especially because we’ve gotten older since a lot of your first lessons and tutorials. It’s been an interesting time figuring out what adjustments need to be made in products and shades as we age right?! You two are brilliant! Love from Minnesota!
Quick tip I learnt from a friend....don’t forget to clean your makeup brushes after concealing a blemish in order to minimise the risk of transferring bacteria elsewhere, but also help prevent aggravating blemishes that are trying to heal. Love these essential basics tutorials! 👍
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! This series of videos is so helpful for me and it's the type of content that has truly gone missing from youtube over the past 3 yrs or so. I would VERY MUCH appreciate if you could do a video regarding correcting/concealing hyper-pigmentation. I have Myasthenia Gravis, a rare autoimmune neuromuscular disease. Between the disease symptoms & ALL of the medications I take, it's taken a toll on my skin and overall appearance. My under eyes down to my lower orbital bone, inner corners, eyelids, outer corners of my eyes, and top of my cheeks are all a brownish hormonal looking tone of pigmentation. It's like having Melasma on my entire eye area. All of that darkness is only adding to the sunken appearance of my tear trough area from volume loss. With Myasthenia Gravis, I can't have Botox, but I'm going to ask my Neurologist about under eye fillers. I know this is a complex topic because the "correction" will be different depending on people's skin color, undertones, and hyper-pigmentation tones, but I would deeply appreciate the help so much! XOXO ~Christy~
Lancome Effecernes had been my go to since the 80’s and Ive tried them all. It last all day and doesn’t crease. I do add a bit of brighter concealer to top it off as I have very dark circles.
I mentioned the colour wheel on one of your videos last year and then went into detail about how the complimentary colours mathematically cancel one another. Physically, they reduce to grey, but you got the idea. So happy to see it made sense to you! Obviously, I love your videos and you look great. Thanks for all you do.
Love these educational Videos. I used to work for Mac a certain time but as a Mom now I love to refresh knowledge. And you and Sam are just great great great!!! Big love from Germany!!
I quite regularly just use a little concealer and mascara. Just depends on how good my skin is looking. I use the Veil pen but my holy grail for just concealer days is a bloody cheap as chips product. It's a LA girl eyeshadow primer stick - cost me 4 bucks and it's the perfect match for my skin. I have about 7 different concealers from low end to high and this is my always fall back to... god knows why but at the moment with good skin it works. I am open to all products and honestly spend more money on my skin care than anything else now. I have some fave palettes (the Hourglass ambient lighting edit unlocked as I find I can do a full natural no makeup look with it). I love CT lip pencils and Hourglass femme nude lip stylos. Just putting it out there for any gals that can't afford the higher end stuff or only can afford a few you can use cheap stuff (la girl concealer is also good)... you have to find what works best for you. Thanks @pixiwoo for doing these tutorials... I am learning heaps. You rock and are so beautiful
I love these new back to basics video - I've gotten so tired of all the gimmicks on UA-cam but these are amazing! Would you consider doing an educational video on how to cover redness on not just the face but also the body?
Clairethemamabear She mentions Maybelline age rewind and rimmel - both are drugstore I believe (also Delilah but I am unsure about where to buy this). 😊
Clairethemamabear nyx and pixie have great pot color correctors for blemishes and dark spots. She mentioned the Maybelline colored pen correctors as well as the Mac type palette she used initially. Nyx has all sorts of liquid correctors, including lavender for brightening, etc. There are a lot out there if you look.
@@osterlundm11 Delilah isn't drugstore, in fact sold mainly in beauty salons and john lewis. They also have a website. I've been impressed with their products

That was brilliant, thank you! I'm never sure if I'm blue/purple or red ish under my eyes? My lids on the other hand do seam to have a red tint to them !?!? 👀😎 Have a lovely weekend xx
I’m loving the learning! I swear by Sisley’s under eye concealer but there are loads here I’ve not tried & will be adding to my shopping list - thanks Nic!
I’ve been loving the YSL Touche Eclat. I just tap it in with my fingertip and don’t set it, and I find it doesn’t make my under eye lines stand out too much.
This series is so informative and helpful for us newbies, especially this concealer one as I don't use foundation and really needed a great concealer for my dry skin. Thanks Nic
Loving this series! Can’t believe I never thought to use a flat matte concealer to conceal pigmentations! Then my bronzer always sits funny on it cuz it’s not the same as my foundation! Thanks so much for all the knowledge!
So much info to take in. Definitely one to rewatch! I’m not so good at applying lipstick. And my bottom lip seems filler than my top lip, but is a big wonky. Lip liners make me nervous. Liquid lipsticks or lipsticks in bold colours are more likely to go wrong on me as my application is not so precise 😅. And I’d like to know how do you apply a diffused edge on a liquid lipstick for a softer, more natural look. So a tutorial on that would be amazing. 👍😎

Hi Nic....Great video! One question Early in the video (around 6:50) you started to mention about being careful about concealers that said undereye in the name & you said you would get back to that but you did not. Can you tell me what you were going to tell us about the concealers? I love these kind of videos were you and Sam give us more in depth information or tips & things you do and why you do them... they are really very helpful to us non professional makeup artists!!!!! Thank you so much!!

I love the idea behind this series! Thank you. Can you give tips for those of us who wear eyeglasses? How to make your eyes stand out in a good way? Is there a good way to keep your makeup on your nose better? I realize the size and type of glasses make a difference, but any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks for the lesson. I second you on the concealer looking weirdly bright on the skin under eyes and I don’t have that many lines. I use ysl touché eclat (I know it’s not a concealer but it somehow melts well with my skin and color too) worth trying
Thank you. Please advise how to cover dark brown MELASMA spots on the top of the cheeks , long lines are right in the highlighter area. It always looks cake and heavy :(
2004bestnomi I agree, Lisa's video is really good and there is a beautiful look on top of great advice. You could use some concealer/corrector/camouflage (the names are not always accurate) palettes with peachy or salmony shades (lighter salmon is for light skin, you go peachier for medium and the deeper you are, the more you move towards brighter oranges) for that, Bobby Brown, MAC or Kryolan (the cheapest of 3) would be very nice for that. Oh and when it comes to blemishes on cheeks, you might want to use cream highlighter/blush/bronzer, because you can mix it with concealer, rather than having blemish or a flesh tone peeking through.
I use estee lauder's body and face full coverage to conceal. But since i have started using milk thistle and tranexamic acid. My melasma is almost gone. I am using these for about a month now. I am so happy and relived. I don't have to wear concealer or foundation while going out.
Really enjoying these vids. Please do one about getting it right for pigmentation. My neck has 2 different colours thanks to sun damage on the sides so getting an overall harmonious result is difficult.
Thank you soooo much for this video! And thank you for one of my holy grail brushes; the deluxe crease brush! I bought it because of this video and it really does an amazing job. Love love love it! And you ;)

Thanks Nic...very informative.. Im trying to conceal Xanthelasma under my eyes...its such a nuisence...Clarins instant is lovely but just doesnt cover well enough for me.. Have tried many others.. xxx
Dear Nick & Sam, it is always a pleasure to see you on youtube or instagram! Your makeup videos or your more general topics, life etc. are always interesting and both of you are great persons! I also love real techniques brushes and just got some more today. This brought me to the following: why so much plastic for the packaging of the brushes? Could you maybe discuss with real techniques how to improve on this? This would be so great for the planet! 😉 lots of love from France, Delphine
I am loving these master classes but would love if you through out some alternate drugstore products too as the part of world I am coming from doesn't really have these high end products. Thanks xo
This was so helpful, I have struggled to know how to avoid concealer in my crows feet and looking weird with that baked pale under eye effect. Thank you.
Which concealer would you most recommend for under-eye wrinkles with thin skin and puffiness? My first thought is glowing and moisturizing concealer, but I would love your opinion. Thanks!
nic iv got a special night out on sat and im not sure weather to powder or not , my make up seems to come away pretty easy these days but also clings to dry patches, plus im getting the dreaded wrinkles. should i do my usual and lightly powder with a brush . stay away from powder completely or use a powder with a wet sponge so it melts into the skin ????

Thank you.
I loovee these master classes !! can't wait for the next ones
All this time I’ve been using peach to correct my purple circles! It works but I bet yellow would work better.
Loving your masterclasses Nic! Thanks for sharing!
Please keep the educational videos coming. Btw,your ring is sooo pretty 😍
