This is amazing, and just what I need. The honest and clear opinion from a makeup artist and UA-camr I have a 1000% faith in. The struggle of finding foundation in the drugstore can be so hopelessly horrible. You made my life ten times easier with this video
I hope someday you gals make a makeup line that has the BEST color range at a reasonable price. There is little love for very pale and dark men and women. ):
You can just know that if they did do it, they would make a professional line and not crap quality products as others have done to make a fast buck *ahem!
I agree with you. Although I think foundations have gone quite far. I am an olive skin tone and it was so difficult to find warm/yellow undertones in the drugstore. It was always too pink. I hope they would have more pale foundations because many foundations labeled "light" are not really all that light. Darker skinned people have also very limited options because companies forget that there is a cool toned dark, warm, red and neutral dark. Lol whoops sorry for the rant lol
Jennifer Vanessa Beauty products have become more and more popular as social media and UA-cam have increased, so that definitely means makeup in general has come a long way. I'm happy there are more options for others nowadays, but there is still room for improvement, like you said.
This is the most helpful video I have ever watched. I have horribly dry skin and I am so thankful for the time and dedication you have for your viewers (whether they have dry or oily skin) and your channels. You clearly spent so much time personally reviewing these and I cannot thank you enough!
I have that! I love it but I've found it turns out different on different days :/ some days it makes me look really pale, others it's quite orange It's strange haha
+Jess Thomas I have found this too recently! Its the only foundation I've ever repurchased but lately I just look orange and patchy so going to try something else :(
Im extremely confused. The rimmel wake me up is the shiniest foundation i have ever come across so to hear it being describe as matte blows my mind. Also, i wouldnt say rimmel match perfection is full coverage at all! Buildable to medium but definitely not full. The rimmel lasting finish has way more coverage than the match perfection so i wouldnt say they are at all similar. But then what do i know...
+Brionyx Couldn't agree more! Match Perfection I generally have to build, whereas Lasting Finish I can just use one layer and I'm happy. As for Wake me Up - I look like I've jumped in glitter whenever I wear it - definitely not Matte!
I find the shade range in Wake Me Up runs a lot darker than the other Rimmel foundations too. I actually like the look of it inside, but I can't wear it when its sunny because its so glittery.
The Revlon Colorstay for combo/oily skin is my favorite. It is nice and long wearing for our hot and humid Houston TX summers, and then in the dryer months, it goes on like a dream with a couple dots of moisturizer. They are also replacing the cap with a pump! I bought a new bottle a few weeks ago and it has a pump. I was so glad to see that!
+Rhiannon x I'm sure most people are sick of seeing negative Nancy's, like yourself. I cannot speak for everyone obviously, but I'd rather see a positive, nothing to do with the video comment than one like yours.

APPARENTLY Bourjois and Chanel makeup are manufactured together in the same factory in France and are very similar (if not the same)... food for thought! x
Definitely do a video on the concealers! This video was super helpful; I'd been searching for an affordable foundation for super dry skin, and now I know of one! You said most of the ones for dry skin have medium coverage, so knowing the best concealer to pair with the foundations would be even more helpful!
so surprised about your thoughts on the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation. I have dry skin like you, but i had to stop using Wake Me Up because it was way too shiny, and i LOVE dewy skin, but this one was borderline greasy. (bearing in mind that my skin normally drinks up foundations because of its dryness)
I found it hard glitter in mine!!!! And there was glitter in my friends one. It jut makes it look like a tacky shimmer glitter and it barely looks natural x
+Ella Lxuise yeah I think it has a glitter in it. I seen that too. and same problem, I have dry combination skin but I looked pretty shiny and oily after a few hours
+WIC009 nope my skin is definitely just dry. I think it's the micro glitter in it that makes it appear more shiny than it is, but still the "dewy-est" foundation i've ever used
Yessss! the concealer version would be very nice! Also a big thanks for making this kind of videos and testing everything. I use the bourjois healthy mix almost everyday and I really liked it, although I wouldn't say it's full coverage... xxx
Definitely, I bought the bourjois cc cream and she's rights it's great. If you want something light and your skin is normal/dry. We're lucky to have them in our make up world!
I have no loyalty when it comes to foundations so it's always so handy to get an idea of what would work with my skin. I'm oily and prone to breakouts so I have to be careful that I don't aggravate my skin :-/
Allison MacIntosh ah I am a Creature of habit but I'll always trust pixiwoos recommendations.aaah it most be tricky to choose products, if you haven't already check out Caroline hirons she gives the best skin advice ! xx
It's nice to just try different textures and something different sometimes. I can imagine that it would be a lot more to think about if you have those things to consider. Caroline has had Dr Sam bunting on her channel who is also lbrilliant, she is a dermatologist. Sali is great I love her too! X
It's quite frankly DISGUSTING that in this day and age there aren't more mainstream drugstore options for women (and men) of colour. Something needs to be done!!!!
+Hayley Longster well it's the same with very pale skin. Most "vanilla" or "ivory" shades look like a fucking bronzer on me..let alone matching it with even lighter neck lol.ridiculous I feel your pain!
+Hayley Longster I agree. There also aren't many options for people who are very pale. I think NYX has a new product called Pro Foundation Mixer in a few shades from white all the way up to a very deep brown. Other companies have similar products, but this is the first I've heard about from the drugstore.
The struggle is real for both pale and dark.... but I think the struggle is a bit *more* real for the dark skinned tbh 😉 I sometimes find it hard enough to find something affordable in the drugstore that suits me and I have very common (in my country - UK ) middle of the road light - medium skin. I dread to think what it's like for my friends who are dark skinned. -- you spend a fortune trying things when you can't return them. US ladies- you're very lucky!!
+Shelby Best Why funny? Sure there are plenty of light foundations but they often run too warm or too cool toned for a lot of people. For us who have more pigment in our skin it is either too pink/orange or too little yellow. And if they have the range, it is the wrong undertone. Yeah those in the "middle" have it easier than the rest of us lol. I know the body shop offers drops so you can just mix into your moisturizer or foundation which is great. Tho I haven't tried it myself.
To anyone with oily skin, I wanna recommend Inglot HD Perfect coverup foundation and their mattifying loose powder!! It might not be drugstore, but it's cheaper than mac, Estée Lauder etc.. And it's soooo good if you struggle with oily skin. Excellent coverage. So if you have Inglot in your country, check it out! 💜💜💜
+Jenny Frisk I use Urban Decay De-slick compact for my oily skin & I absolutely love it best £19.50 I've ever spent, I also know this isn't drug store I've used many many drugstore brands & failed theres 2 things I do spend on which is liquid foundation & powder anything else I will use drugstore brands
I love the Bourjois CC cream as well just recently purchased and sure will be re purchasing over and over again! I agree with you on the rimmel 9 in 1 BB cream about separating!
i really, really like this video! i think yours were the first make up tutorials i have ever watched and then i watched a 10101000100 more. Now i m back for good!!
+pixiwoo It's not the same as the one you showed in the video, they have a matte version of the Fit me foundation that's not available in the Uk yet.. xx
+Katie Derrick No7 because they actually do a proper range of shades to match their foundations and not just light/medium/dark which never match anyone!
+Katie Derrick Try Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer. It's been around for years, I've used it for around 3 years myself and very buildable, covers dark under eye circles really well x
So helpful, as you've gone through them all to compare.. its a minefield as you say.. and of course all the adverts and claims never help. Real life testing by a makeup artist with them all makes the best comparison. Thanks Nic x
Finally a video about drugstore foundations only! And thank god you actually were truthful that they're not all "full coverage" like too many people say! Thanks Nic!x
+Emma Lindvall I have dry skin and the only drugstore foundation I use now is the Rimmel match perfection one because it seems to be the only one that doesn't stick to my dry patches x
I really like rimmel match perfection (blue lid) I also have dry skin and find it hard to find a foundation with good coverage and doesnt cling to dry patches. This ones perfect x
Which fit me did you buy? The original in the US is the most dry skin friendly/skin like foundation I've ever tried. No matter what the price. I have eczema all over my face so I've got texture on texture. Trust me I know no foundation is perfect but if I apply the fit me in flat motions from forehead to chin and don't buff in circles it's foolproof.
+bellaboopixi I think you're right, I tried a couple things a few years ago from mf (cousin brought see home from a trip) and I remember the products seemed a little different! But I didn't know as much as I do now so maybe I'm wrong haha.
they really SHOULD do the same shades in all of their ranges, so for example Maybelline should do the same shades in their BB creams as they do in their mousse etc.
I feel like im the only person who doesnt like rimmel wake me up at all. It has shimmer particles in it, you cant really tell under artificial light, but as soon as I step outside, especially on a sunny day, I look like I have just covered my face in glitter. I love the formula and coverage, but the glitter stops me from ever picking it up as I have so many foundations that I prefer to it.
I purchased Maybelline's Fit Me! Foundation, since I read a lot of good reviews on it, but it just doesn't work on my skin! I wonder if there's an specific tool to apply it, I've used an stippling brush and a classic foundation brush, but the foundation just doesn't come up nice, it looks like a layer of soft uneven plastic on my face; does someone have a recommendation on how to apply it? Thanks in advance!
I use Fit Me all the time, it's my go to foundation as their colors always seem to match my skin better than any other brand. I have combination skin so I have to do a moisturizer on my dry areas before I apply, but after that I buff it on with a brush and it goes on flawless.
I think the Wake me up foundation is NOT matte at all..... I used it and it was like it never seemed to set and remained like a greasy layer on my face... I hated it! I dont have particularly oily skin either. I gave it to my friend and she said the same thing...
OMG only just realised from watching superstar vloggers on bbc I player that you two are Jim CHAPMANS sisters omg I have your gold techniques brushes!!!!!! I love you
being incredibly pale (Mac 10) I struggle so much with foundation in the UK. I will never forgive dainty doll for discontinuing their foundation! the only foundation that has ever matched my skin tone, as in the makeup world I seem to be a super pale yellow toned anomaly! x
Have you tried NARS Sheer Glow foundation in shade Siberia? It's great for pale girls with yellow undertones. You could also try MUFE Ultra HD in Y205 if you're not as yellow as Siberia.
Same issue for me. I still haven't found the perfect yellow undertones super pale foundation yet. Nars luminous weightless foundation comes the closest.
+Renee Bergeron + Shelby (sorry I don't know how to reply to both!) I've tried nars and they both come up far too dark for me! I have a nearly pearly white neck which makes nearly everything super orange/ dark! illamasqua ones have come the closest but they're horrendously pink toned and horrible formulas! I'll get there one day, when someone brings the dainty doll formula back to life!!
+heveewoohoo Try Graftobian HD Glamour Creme foundation in Ivory. It's honestly off-white with a yellow undertone. Trouble is I don't think you can get it in many stores as it's usually a pro or stage product. If you just want to order online, check out Camera Ready Cosmetics, they sell samples for a couple bucks each.
+heveewoohoo Ooohhh, you make me wish I have heard of this dainty doll foundation! Have you heard of Yaby? I think that's the spelling. Anyway, they do a white foundation. :) I haven't tried it, but I have seen it!
+devilswithsugar NYX just came out with a white mixer and I'm sure it'll come to drugstores soon so there will be an option for super pale people in drugstores!
+Leah F The Body Shop do white pigmented drops you can buy a bottle and mix a few drops in with your foundation or concealer etc to get the right shade. Also the do a darker one to darken foundations as well
This is so helpful. I've been using the same foundation for around 15 years, and now that I'm more into makeup, I can tell I need a change. There's just so many to choose from, and it's confusing.
+akvilyte002 That's a false statement. As a makeup artist, you should be able to cater and recommend for ALL skintones. But as Nic said at the start, the drugstores in the UK don't cater to us at all, at least she recognised that rather than ignoring. It is shitty though for anyone who is watching this and is darker than olive skinned. As a huge makeup artist with a big influence, if they spoke up more I think a change is more likely to happen. Not just talking about pixiwoo, but all of the famous makeup artists in general.
I didn't mean I was annoyed with Nic. I love her! I love Pixiwoo. I meant it annoys me that it's so difficult to find foundations for dark skin in drugstores.
hairgeek95 yes! I used it for a whole month before I went to an outdoor event with someone and they told me I was "sparkling" in the sun! I had a whole new bottle as backup and decided never to use it again hahaha
I have an oily skin and use the bourjois healthy mix with great success when set with a loose powder! I also require fuller coverage for acne scarring and find it works well for that when stippled with a sponge - rarely need concealer. Used to use colourstay religiously but felt it was sucking the life out of my face, though it's fine for a night out.
This video is so helpful!! To some of use who only have a max of £10 to spend on their foundation, we can't really afford to get it wrong and its so helpful to see them all compared by the same person, rather than across different reviewers.
I have dry skin and I found that for me the Fit Me foundation made my skin feel dry/clung to my dry patches and my t-zone area a lot more oily than usual. I'd say the best and most underrated product in this video for dry skin is the Bourjois CC cream, amazing product and amazing coverage and can easily be called a foundation Great video xxx
Damn Nic, your eyebrows look amazing and super natural! Your whole appearance is amazing!
Agree! Brows on fleek
+Aakifah Patel "on fleek"! get a grip!
+claire beard indeed! On fleek is such a wanky term!
+Deb J Shut up all of your attitudes should have stayed in 2015, she was being nice! The only one who needs to get a grip is you!
Bryony Townend fleek off Bryony.

Zoella has pretty good skincare items.
I agree with you. Although I think foundations have gone quite far. I am an olive skin tone and it was so difficult to find warm/yellow undertones in the drugstore. It was always too pink. YES that would be amazing!
Yes, I would LOVE to see your thoughts on the myriad concealers out there!
this!
Yes please!! xx
Yes please!! xx
Love how many options you gave out for oily, dry, combo skin. So organised and straight forward into the items!
the rimmel lasting finish 25 hour foundation is SO underrated i love it
I have that! I love it but I've found it turns out different on different days :/ some days it makes me look really pale, others it's quite orange
It's strange haha
Maybe is the pH in your skin??
That's definitely my favorite drugstore foundation :)
+Jess Thomas I have found this too recently! Its the only foundation I've ever repurchased but lately I just look orange and patchy so going to try something else :(
Jess Thomas i had this problem but i found it helps switching your moisturiser
i cannot get over how this hair color looks with your skin tone! looks so amazing!
Im extremely confused. The rimmel wake me up is the shiniest foundation i have ever come across so to hear it being describe as matte blows my mind. The rimmel lasting finish has way more coverage than the match perfection so i wouldnt say they are at all similar. But then what do i know...

+Brionyx I thought exactly the same!
+Brionyx Couldn't agree more! Match Perfection I generally have to build, whereas Lasting Finish I can just use one layer and I'm happy. As for Wake me Up - I look like I've jumped in glitter whenever I wear it - definitely not Matte!

+Megan LeDrew yeah ive noticed its darker too
The Revlon Colorstay for combo/oily skin is my favorite. It is nice and long wearing for our hot and humid Houston TX summers, and then in the dryer months, it goes on like a dream with a couple dots of moisturizer. They are also replacing the cap with a pump! I bought a new bottle a few weeks ago and it has a pump. I was so glad to see that!
anyone reading... stay strong, look up, stay amazing and follow you dreams - josh x
Aww thanks thats cute! X you too!
Sick of seeing a positive uplifting message?!?!
+Rhiannon x I'm sure most people are sick of seeing negative Nancy's, like yourself.
I cannot speak for everyone obviously, but I'd rather see a positive, nothing to do with the video comment than one like yours.
awww.. so nice to read something like this rather than all the evil trolling I always see in the comment sections. 😘

That's a really good idea! It'd be so useful...
+Alice Amelia for mascara I cannot recommend enough maybelline lash sensational :)
Really liked that format! Having all of that information in one place from a trusted source is very helpful. :)

Oh really? Thank you for this recommendation :D
+Rontina Schmidt You're welcome! I've really struggled, so happy to share what works!
I have a pressed powder by Inglot and its crap. But I still love Inglot.
+BleedingxRainbow Things obviously works different for different people. I have a super expensive one from Dior, that's absolute bullshit on me..
The garnier Bob cream comes in extra light which is lovely
Nic I love love love your hair . The color is so flattering on you . Stunning
I love the Bourjois CC cream as well just recently purchased and sure will be re purchasing over and over again! I agree with you on the rimmel 9 in 1 BB cream about separating!
Really loved this, Bourjois has always been my favourite for foundation! Please do a concealer one too :) xx
Tried the Borjois Healthy Mix foundation, like putting new skin on, absolutely brilliant.
i really, really like this video! i think yours were the first make up tutorials i have ever watched and then i watched a 10101000100 more. Now i m back for good!!
Loved this video! Purchased the bourjois 123 yesterday! Looking forward to trying it! Please do more of these videos especially concealer! Xx
Nic the Fit Me Matte is my favourite foundation but you can't get it in the UK yet :(
+Carys K Yes you can, I got it from boots xxx
+pixiwoo It's not the same as the one you showed in the video, they have a matte version of the Fit me foundation that's not available in the Uk yet.. xx
+pixiwoo it's not available yet? I have to order it online? Ahaha xx
+Carys K They made it available in India few days back. How not UK? Anyhow it's amazinggg
I agree, the Maybelline matte poreless foundation is my holy grail! ❤️👍🏽
Yes, please do concealed! I really enjoyed this foundation video and will try some on your recommendation.
PLEASE please do another but based on drugstore concealers ! Been trying to look for some new concealers for ages !! C
Bourjois have great ones, or the collection lasting perfection is great!

I've tried most drugstore concealers and the best one is the maybeline anti age
Yes please! I'd love to see this kind of video for high street concealers. Thank you!
So helpful, as you've gone through them all to compare.. its a minefield as you say.. and of course all the adverts and claims never help. Real life testing by a makeup artist with them all makes the best comparison. Thanks Nic x
you so beautiful, this natural makeup is gorgeous on you...i adore your brushes and use them all the time!
I had the Bourjois 123 foundation shade 51 and it oxidises into an orange colour, not great!!
Their radiance concealer was the exact same ...Their healthy mix foundation is lovely though ( the gel )
The Rimmel lasting finish is amazeballs!!
This was so helpful PLEASE do one for concealers!! I need help..
You look ethereal. Beautiful with a natural vibe.
Can you do this for primers!!!
Ooh great to see and hear your thoughts on these type of cheaper foundations. Love your hair colour by the way!
very informative! could you please do a video on concealers? ty
Finally a video about drugstore foundations only! And thank god you actually were truthful that they're not all "full coverage" like too many people say! Thanks Nic!x
What eyelashes are you wearing .. They look amazing😍😍
I don't think she has any on, she's been using a lash grow serum
I love this hair color!! Goes really well with your skin Nick.
Any recommendations for foundations for dry skin? I find that both the Bourjois and Maybelline Fit me catches on the dry parts.
I think the rimmel wake me up is good if you like a dewy finish and the bourjois healthy mix
I like the revlon colourstay they have a special formula for dry skin and it doesnt cling to my dry patches at all
Which fit me did you buy? The original in the US is the most dry skin friendly/skin like foundation I've ever tried. No matter what the price. You're hair is beautiful! Perfect color, length, style
Man... Can't get Max factor and Bourjois in the states and when you can it's on amazing for like 30 dollars! :(
Amazon not amazing lol
Max factor is the same a covergirl if I'm not mistaken. Just different names :)
+bellaboopixi I think you're right, I tried a couple things a few years ago from mf (cousin brought see home from a trip) and I remember the products seemed a little different! But I didn't know as much as I do now so maybe I'm wrong haha.
Thanks for doing all the work to test out the foundations from drugstores!
they really SHOULD do the same shades in all of their ranges, so for example Maybelline should do the same shades in their BB creams as they do in their mousse etc.
The bourjois cc cream looked amazing on you .
You are the best when it comes to describing and reviewing everything !! thank you 😚😚
I -absolutely- LOVE your hair color. It suits you perfectly!!!
here in the us revlon colorstay has a pump now !!!!!!
It does? Did they get new packaging?
They did in my state
In France too ! That's great 👍🏻
Whhaaaattt this needs to come to the uk now.
+LTwizzleyxo it is coming to the UK, the pump packing is in their 2016 launches. Maybe even as soon as next month
OMFG YOUR HAIR!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ never seen you so beauts!!!
Shopping trip already planned for tomorrow ☺️
You and I both! lol
I have the bourjois 123 perfect foundation its my favorite as well !!
Thank you so much this has helped me so so much!
+Eliana Ozin pleasure.x
So much effort to make this video ! Great job Nic !
Yeah I hadn't noticed it was glittery until my friend pointed it out which was quite embarrassing to have to go through my day like that
YES!!! Love this format! Concealers next please :) :) :)
Beauty blender is the best way to apply it for sure
Wilma Sundberg Thank you very much, gorgeous! I'll try applying it that way
+Kathi S. same I gave mine away
I had the same problem, my skin is very dry and it never ever felt/look good .
I use Fit Me all the time, it's my go to foundation as their colors always seem to match my skin better than any other brand. I have combination skin so I have to do a moisturizer on my dry areas before I apply, but after that I buff it on with a brush and it goes on flawless.
Loved this video!! Been thinking about trying a new drugstore foundation! Would love to see the concealer video as well!! Thanks :)
I think the Wake me up foundation is NOT matte at all..... I used it and it was like it never seemed to set and remained like a greasy layer on my face... I hated it! I dont have particularly oily skin either. I gave it to my friend and she said the same thing...
I love the soap and glory one heck of a blot foundation. It is amazing !!!!! Xx
OMG only just realised from watching superstar vloggers on bbc I player that you two are Jim CHAPMANS sisters omg I have your gold techniques brushes!!!!!! I love you
I love that you reviewed all of those foundations so quickly! Everyone else's videos would have been two hours long. Bravo!!!
being incredibly pale (Mac 10) I struggle so much with foundation in the UK.
Love this Nic! Would love to see some more of this format for concealers :) xx
Thank you to highlight the fact that there is none colour range for dark skin. the same in France (it's even worst). And yes, it is a shame🙅
THANKS for the video. I'm going to try the Bourjois 123.
Would love to see more videos like this. Cheers.
That moment when you're to pale for foundation:(
companies do white foundations, you're never too pale haha. unless you're talking about drugstore.
+Leah F I feel that! I have to mix Macs white face and body in with everything, even concealer but it changes the consistency :( x
Also the do a darker one to darken foundations as well
Revlon has a foundation that is in shade that might as well be white ☺
This is so helpful. I've been using the same foundation for around 15 years, and now that I'm more into makeup, I can tell I need a change. There's just so many to choose from, and it's confusing.
am I the only one who thinks the rimmel wake me up foundation is too glittery???
Soooo glittery AND oxidised!!! I hated it ugh
Yeah its just weird...I'm not an elf I dont want to sparkle.
I agree! I hate it!
+BMakeupBeauty I'm sorry 'i'm not an elf i don't want to sparkle' - that phrase just absolutely made my day XD
Billy Singh yes!!! And in photographs, the glitter makes your face really shiny with the flash on
fresh glowy and looking fab in the new year Nick
yeah there's nothing for dark skin lmao
+sakzitime I know it annoys me so much!
+sakzitime That's just because she can not try that herself and therefore she can not recommend anything :)
+sakzitime Maybelline dream fresh bb in medium - deep is meant to be amazing!
I love the last one too! Wear it all the time
I found that wake me up foundation made me look like a female version of Edward Cullen
Omg hahahaha
hairgeek95 yes!
Such a helpful video Nic!! Great job as always!
I did so like the format!! Please do more.
I also adore the Bourjois 123 foundation!
Thanks for this!So helpful!
Please do concealers too!
Oh wow I have been searching for a video like this! THANK YOU! Awesome video Nic x
I'd say the best and most underrated product in this video for dry skin is the Bourjois CC cream, amazing product and amazing coverage and can easily be called a foundation
Great video xxx
I like how she didn't ramble on and got straight to the point with each product. Quick and easy! I enjoyed this video. Thanks Pixiwoo
I also love the Bourjous 123 foundation. I have done for ages and no body I know talks about or uses it! I really hope they don't discontinue it!
FINALLY a video about foundations that leaves out all the nonsense and chitchat. I love that you get right to the point :)
YESSS YESSS PLEASEEEE DO MOREE!!!!!!! Thank you soooo much for doing this for us!!! Lots of Love!! :)
Loved this video Nikki!!!! Yes please to concealer video xxxx
Please do it for concealers!! Loved it x
This is such a useful video!! Thank you so much! Will look at that Bourjois 123 soon!
really love your makeup like this Nic!
+Anna Ross Thanks Anna.x
Loved this video! Please make one for concealers too x
