It's 2021. I just saw this video yesterday. Although skeptical, because let's face it wet product over dry defies logic, I gave it a try today. I really tested it too. I attended a dance recital, luncheon & game night. The temperature was an unforgiving 91 F! I'm 56, my skin's normal, I don't have wrinkles but I do have one fine line between my brows that makeup always seems to highlight IMHO. I have typical discoloration that's the reward for all those fabulous '80s sun tans I got. I began with my fave tinted moisturizer I always prime my skin with. Next, like Wayne demonstrated, I lightly dusted my face with my Chanel medium color loose powder. Then I went for it & put one pump of my The Ordinary Serum Foundation on the back of my hand & used my finger to gently dot it on my face using my foundation brush to buff it out over the powder. And you know what? It worked just like he said it would. I was expecting a cakey mess, but nope. My skin was covered yet it felt light & the annoying little line between my eyes was surprisingly camouflaged! I applied a little concealer but way less than I normally use. I went about my day schvitzing from the heat & blotting my face with a tissue as one does. Usually on hot days my makeup melts off & when I go to remove it with my wipes there's nothing left, but not this time. I couldn't believe when I took my makeup off tonight how much came off on the wipes. This technique really made my makeup last all day & night. I'm amazed.
Me too! Will have to try this, and as I've just run out of foundation, now's a good time to try some new product! My first surprise with this was that Wayne says either moisturiser or primer. I always thought you needed to use both. Wayne - you are my guru! xo

This tip is a true miracle for those of us with problem skin. Between this tip, primer and setting spray, my make up lasts a full 18 hours without budging! You're a life saver!
Watched your video “You’re Being Lied To,” and once again, I was blown away at your kindness and total honesty. What a beautiful soul you are! Utterly refreshing, especially in this nonstop, digitally altered day and and age. Humbly, I thank you.
I am a newer-ish subscriber, and I am binge-watching your posts. Amazing! This tip has changed my foundation life! I am 63 but still want to look nice. Your tips are amazing! Thank you so much.
Hello Wayne, I don't wear concealer, foundation or any cover up but will start wearing a little to start wearing some makeup which I am fairly new to. I always wear SPF, Where does it fit in this routine or any in general. I use my obagi kit so last is spf then I wear becca backlight on top or just the shimmering skin perfector to highlight which just does everything for me. Very simple. I own most shades. I am learning to contour etc. hoping that's the correct order or now charlotte t wonderglow, will look into getting her light foundation. Now with summer coming, I am concerned which comes before what. Please help clarify this for me. Thank you.
Genius. I did it, without the glow product because I'm too oily. My look was natural and awesome. I could see my skin and it was breathing all day too. Thank you Wayne.
Truthseeker I had seen someone reference how another UA-camr made it trend on tiktok and I instantly thought about this video. Glad I’m not the only one🤣
WOW 😨 It really worked... I have some large pores, and my foundation was making me look older. I tried the tip of stop layering concealer etc..too.Absolutely amazing. Thanks
Amazing tip. True story. I have tried every tip under the sun to help me apply foundation to my nose. I have oily t-zone and large pores. My foundation usually looks really patchy on my nose after four hours, with various foundations. Tried using translucent powder prior to my application. My foundation remained flawless for over 12 hours. Really works. Thanks so much for this game changing advice!!!
Wish I saw your comment a long time ago! I too have a very oily nose and my foundation always looks splotchy after several hours. To get it to stay all day, I use my face primer all over except for my nose and eyelids. I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer on my eyelids AND my nose! Then I spritz a little setting spray right on my nose, wait till it dries, and then I apply my foundation. It seriously lasts all day - no breaking down, no looking splotchy and it doesn't cause me to break out. The eye primer is made to absorb excess oil from your eyelids so your shadow goes on smoothly, doesn't crease and lasts all day and it really truly works for your nose too! I swear by this technique and it has truly been a life saver for me.
I know it's not good to keep your foundation on for more than 16 hours. but I tested it and oh my!!!!! my skin looked flawless. skinlike amazing and porless! no primer needed what so ever. mac strobe cream mac prep and prime loose powder face and body& loreal pro matte mixed together that's what are dreams are made of! thanks genius♡
I tried this tip with Laura Mercier's translucent loose setting glow powder and it turned out beautifully! My makeup was flawless and glowy all day long. This is my new way of applying my makeup. Thank you!
Oh my! I’m old enough to remember the older ladies doing this! I had a Merle Norman using friend in college and she did this and her foundation lasted all day-in the Southern heat.
Omg can I just say that this actually works?! The claim is so real. Tried it this morning with just concealer and I can't even. Thank you so much!!!❤ I can't believe I just saw this now.
As someone with psoriasis, I am accustomed to layering on foundation, and because the lesions can be raised with texture, I eventually had to switch to mineral foundation to keep it from creasing around/on lesions. I just combined this trick with the one of adding a drop of oil to my foundation and I just got great coverage with only a small fraction of the liquid foundation I have been using. Complete win, my skin does not feel smothered at all and uneven coloring is fixed. Thank you so much.
omg! this tip worked so well on me . ur awesome ! my foundation lasted for whole 8 hours n it didn't know even need TouchUp .The best part my concealer didn't crease AT ALL . BEST MAKEUP TIP EVER😘😘😘😘😘
Yah ! After applying Very little powder just enough to counter the excessive slippery feel of the primer. Make sure not to over powder it coz that will make it hard for the foundation to glide on properly. Use the concealer after the foundation coz it creases a lot less under the eye n also doesn't slip from the places where we usually color correct n cover blemishes Sidra Fernandez
As a 62 year old female, my skin has changed through the years and so had my routine for applying my makeup. I have been using this method for a few years and I highly recommend trying it. My makeup looks fresher longer and I use a lot less foundation. Thanks for all your tips, love watching and learning from an expert.
***** I have not, but will be trying it tomorrow morning! I have SUPER oily skin, and even with a primer from Spehora, and Make up Forever's foundation, and tapping my loose powder on my face, I still end up being able to fry an egg on my face :( So, I will be trying this!!! Thank you!
***** Tried it today, as I was in two minds about going out and didn't honestly expect it to work. (I have rosacea and don't go out without make-up.) Yes, I needed much less foundation, and (possibly because of this), yes it set really quickly. I also didn't need the layer of panstick I usually put on between the anti-red make-up and the mineral powder. Eight hours later (having been out and without touch-ups) it's as fresh as would normally be after an hour or two.
***** Hi, just found your channel yesterday and I must say I just love your videos. Tried this foundation trick today and it worked like charm. Seemed a bit crazy though, beforehand :D Went through a few of your videos and it was just delightful. You have pretty amazing skills and the tips are fresh. Also truly appreciate the compact and non-condescending way of delivery. Thanks for sharing, you rock!
***** HI im in love with yours videos I LOVED the tip u told about and the other one by using oil im arabic woman and every one ask for what i did in my make up thank you hope u reply
***** I have combination skin and actually tried this trick yesterday, using MUFE HD translucent powder on top of moisturizer/primer. Then my foundation and powder again. Went out in humid NYC weather and within 20mins it started sliding and caking big time :( I didn't expect that to happen, because the foundation I used is the same one I always use and it doesn't cake. I was sweating a bit tho, due to the weather and maybe this doesn't work for when you sweat? Anyways, that's my feedback.
I finally tried this omfg I freaking love the result. When I checked my face a few hours after, my skin still looked really soft and fresh, which is a big big surprise because I am hella oily. I usually grease up after an hour but this trick saved me. Thank you!
Thank you for this tip I tried it and it worked wonders. I am oily and was getting frustrated with all foundation. This was a game changer for me. Thank you for sharing these wonderful tips and tricks that we all can learn from. I also love that this did not set in my forehead lines and around the eyes a bonus for me.
My pores are huge! Let me tell you this is the truth. I know this is an old video before the ladies with oily skin and large pores don't fret because that's less wrinkles for you. If you try this makeup routine you will love it!!
Your redness totally disappeared when you applied the powder after your moisturizer and primer. The foundation finish looks great too! Going to try this on my client Friday. Thank you!
hatsune Pico1233 I’d love to know too! I have dry skin now, because of the medication I take...love that side effect. 🙄 I exfoliate, and use gentle, but effective, face wash, and I moisturize!!! I changed my foundation, but it still has dry places. 😔 I don’t know what else to try! Winter is particularly bad. I have 2 other foundations that I haven’t tried, so I hope one of them works. Actually, one may be discontinued soon so I hope the one that’s not, works!
aMusingMisFIT-tingINMaYhem MouSe Instead of a brush for powder, have you tried just a little bit of powder on a cotton pad and lightly press it on? Or, if it's too much moisturizer, take a tissue and press it lightly over your face to blot the excess before you powder. Just ideas. It's possible that you have very dry skin and need a stronger moisturizer.
Being a 50 year old I have been looking for new makeup techniques for my hormonal skin. I watched many of your videos and thought to try this one. Well, IT WORKED so well. My skin looked luminescent and supple. Not dry and hormonal! Thank you for making a 50 year old feel pretty! New subscriber!
@@meriemkh2039 well she's 50 so she's more than likely going through menopause, if you're hormonal it can cause things like acne, hyperpigmentation etc. Not to mention the amount of stress this can put on a woman alone, I couldn't even begin to imagine. So there's also the stress having an effect on the skin.
This has actually changed my life, I do it whenever I wear makeup for long periods of time outside and it works like a dream. I do notice if I put a little too much powder on my chin and forehead, it can look a little cakey, so keep it lighthanded if you have normal to oily skin!
I'm a black woman who has learned soooo much from you! Starting with "The Truth About Setting Sprays". Thank you for making my makeup journey a little more easier as well as realistic 😊
I am so glad I came across this revolutionary video in 2014 itself. I have been using this tip for the past 5 years on my combination skin and my foundations work like a dream! I have managed to keep normal, drugstore foundations intact for over 12 hours!!!!! Its crazy. What this tip also does for me is it makes my skin less oily at the end of the day, especially in humid weather. Its an absolute lifesaver for someone with skin like mine, living in a humid tropical country. Thank you Wayne Goss! You changed my life with this tip.
I watched Taylor Hill make up video couple months ago and people been bashing her because she applied loose powder first before foundation. Those people need to watched this video before they act like they know better.
Yes,I agree.👏👍I love watching him and I learned a lot. I'll be happy so much, and course I will be the first buyer, in my country 🇭🇷 😁 I cheer up to have that book. 📖 💄 Greetings from Croatia - Dubrovnik 🙋♀💜
YES! I would buy that faster than anything else haha. I would also probably get one for each of my favourite fellow makeup lovers in my life who always come to me for advice or to do the look they are unsure of or new to trying. The way he explains things is straightforward and brilliantly helpful, for novices & pros alike! Please do it! ☺ -X❤ from Canada
Wow... you literally are a makeup guru I swear I TRIED IT! and OMG it actually coved my pores and it looks so stunning. I used nivea soft as a primer and powdered my face with Revolution luxury banana powder and then used my foundation from l'orèal accord parfait. 😍
Ive just done in using my mur banana powder too. I cant believe how good it looks!! I never wear powder now because it sits in my lines but woah, today its flawless. So glad i saw this today
Same reverse theory works well with your hair as well! Condition your hair first and then wash it, amazing results! Love this video and I love the way my face feels when I follow his instructions!
I do exactly the same the reverse wash because putting the conditioner on last leaves my hair too soft and floppy , Putting it on first it is still doing it’s job .
I have learned so much from your videos. I so appreciate that you don't ignore those of us over 20 (I'm 71). Can't wait to see your new foundation that you've been teasing us about.
Everyone is talking about this cool new method now in 2017. A bunch of you tubers are posting videos about powder before foundation...When you suggested this back in 2014. I started doing this after I saw your video in March of 2014 . You started this in my opinion. Your the best !
I use 1. Australian natural Placenta Serum and Moisturizer cream 2. Placenta B.B cream, 3. Loose powder ( very little amount) 4. Pressed foundation ( touch). I am 55, but after using the placenta products, all my winkles were gone. I buy them from Amazon. People say I look like 25. I used them for 1 year, and I don’t need to go to the skincare place anymore. Placenta is amazing. It is the best for the skin treatment.
I saw this tip years ago and have discovered that it is absolutely a menopause-miracle tip. My makeup wouldn’t last an hour when I started going through “the change” (as my mom would say), but truly, this is THE solution. Thank you, Wayne!
Oh my gosh... I was like WHAAAAAAAAT when you put powder on first! I'm going to try it. Your other tip about not using powder brushes with powder foundation literally changed my life.
Can anyone explain to me how you use a powder foundation without a brush. I use powder foundation every day (almost) and idk any other way to apply it. Thanks 😊
@@jonipinson6653 I’m not an expert but using a fluffy powder brush with powder foundation doesn’t really work. Powder foundation works better with a dense, kabuki style brush.
This works. I tried this yesterday with a foundation that goes oily and fades after like three hours and it stayed on ALL DAY!! I just needed to post this here I can't believe it worked I was out the whole day yesterday!!
Hi queenjazz1 I don't know how I stumbled across this on-line tutorial but what a radical difference!!!!!!!! I was losing half my foundation with the sponge method and roughing up my moisturizer/sunscreen -- no more. Highly recommended, totally with you!
Thank you Wayne, you're a genius,I've only waited 53 years for this ,watched your video last night applied it this morning and it's 7pm and still my makeup is perfect. Thank you so so much!! Keep sharing your miracles please!! ❤️❤️🌸🌷💐🎊🎉🎁🌺☀️☀️🌈🌈🌻🌻
OMG! I wanted to try this for by itself, rather than under foundation, and it was amazing. A shimmer primer after moisture, followed by loose powder, gave me amazing coverage. I have redness in my cheeks and it evened everything out. Thanks for posting this tip. It's fantastic!
I've been doing this with my undereye area for a while. I have dark circles genetically. So at some point I wondered if adding powder before concealer would make it stay and look better. Because putting powder on top would make it look very powdery. And it does. I do add a layer of concealer first, though. So it's eyecream, concealer, powder and another layer of concealer. Never had better results.
I thought I may be crazy because I have actually done this an it was kinda accidental, but the day I did here in Florida nothing moved and now here I am binging you Wayne and I now feel normal 🙆🏼♀️and will continue doing it this way , I loved my binge of a lot of your videos today. Your brilliant in every way and I love the way you just do things without all the hoopla. Plus a fan of drunk elephant, obsessed with your channel. 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
I accidentally applied powder before my foundation today. I was going to go with just a powder over my sunscreen, but it didn’t look right, so I applied foundation over the top. I felt stupid to have done it this way, but it appears I did the right thing. I’ve always been frustrated that my makeup doesn’t last my full work day, I’m going to be doing this from now on. You’re not just another gorgeous face. Thanks Wayne.
I tried this this morning and I LOOOOOVE it! I normally power after foundation but my chin always ends up looking dry and around my eyes ends up cakey. Tried to not powder, but my foundation doesn't stay in place. This trick lasted all day and my foundation looked flawless. Definitely my new application technique. My skin looked better as well. Thank you so much for this tip
Aaaaand that's exactly what makes me love him so much!😂😂😂. Absolutely LOVE his little funny comments peppered throughout his videos😍😍😍. He never fails to make me laugh (in addition to teaching me something)
Ok so after watching lastnight, I did try this morning and it worked great!!! I had my makeup on from 8.30am- 5.30pm. No need to touch up during the day, it's normally pretty good but would usually start to look a little oily by the end but nope. So thank you Wayne!!
I came across this video a couple of weeks ago (had subscribed a couple of weeks before). I tried it and honestly, it works so well for me. I have autoimmune disease and autoimmune psoriasis which causes major dryness, redness and flaking. I always fought my foundation even with epic/expensive primers and foundation (despite a ritualistic like moisturizer routine). But with this if I use my moisturizers, then prime, then apply powder I use less foundation and get great coverage with even a light to medium coverage foundation. It doesn't need touching up later in day like before either... and when I remove my makeup my skin is less red and feels softer than it use to. I feel the powder is holding in my moisturizer allowing it to fully absorb throughout the day, when I just primed and did foundation that wasn't the case. My skin hurt after removing makeup and left me dried out and red. So this tip has made my routine easier, quicker and more painless. Plus it helps me feel better about myself. Thank you so much. 💗
I used a tiny bit of BareMinerals on both sides, buffed it in, and then went over with my bb cushion and it was AMAZING. Three words: THANK YOU, WAYNE.
+herpderp21 I used the Bare Minerals Original Foundation c: (it's obliviously not a setting powder, but it helped to protect my skin against the harsh effects of the cushion).
Wayne, I have a very red face with freckles and I live in Florida where I'm starting to sweat as soon as I get out of the shower! Can you please do tips on dealing with makeup in hot weather? Also, while putting makeup on your own face is quite lovely, I would really like to see you applying makeup to models. I watch you every day! Love!
Try a finishing powder with a warm, pale yellow tint to it. This will combat the redness! Many cool toned (pink based) women are scared of yellow powder but it is actually made for them! Anything "banana" colored.

Hi Sella, I'm using loose translucent powder. I used Skinfood Peach Sake Loose Powder however please take heed to only lightly dust the powder on your face using a powder brush or a big powder puff. This works wonder for oily skins but might be a bit drying for dry skin.
hello. Did you use your finger to apply the foundation too?can we use the usual beauty blender for it?

I always wear SPF, Where does it fit in this routine or any in general. I use my obagi kit so last is spf then I wear becca backlight on top or just the shimmering skin perfector to highlight which just does everything for me. Very simple. I own most shades. I am learning to contour etc.
hoping that's the correct order or now charlotte t wonderglow, will look into getting her light foundation.
Now with summer coming, I am concerned which comes before what. Please help clarify this for me.
Thank you.
I've been watching this man since I started makeup years ago and here I am still watching. he's so real and I trust him 100%
Genius. I did it, without the glow product because I'm too oily. My look was natural and awesome. I could see my skin and it was breathing all day too. Thank you Wayne.
which translucent powder did you used?
I love how this is just now trending and how many of us are like, Wayne Goss said this years ago😏 lol

Which translucent powder do you use?
less patchy, thats what i found as well
👌🏾👍🏾🙏🏿
Wow!!! I have the same exact issue! Thanks for letting us know it works!

I tried this tip with Laura Mercier's translucent loose setting glow powder and it turned out beautifully! My makeup was flawless and glowy all day long. This is my new way of applying my makeup. Thank you!
This is the most AMAZING tip I have ever tried. My makeup stayed on ALL DAY. WOW WOW!!!!
He's the most perfect and flawless makeup artist. He works scientifically. Ravishingly impressive!
Oh my! I’m old enough to remember the older ladies doing this! I had a Merle Norman using friend in college and she did this and her foundation lasted all day-in the Southern heat.
This video is 5 years old. FIVE YEARS OLD!!! And youtube is just showing it to me!
I'm demanding an apology! This tip is everything!
Glad I'm not the only one LOL
Thanks for sharing!!
This is good to know, as I am also prone to psoriasis.
omg! this tip worked so well on me . ur awesome ! my foundation lasted for whole 8 hours n it didn't know even need TouchUp .The best part my concealer didn't crease AT ALL . BEST MAKEUP TIP EVER😘😘😘😘😘
Do you have dry or oily skin?
Its combi! Mostly dry n dehydrated! It does get oily when the wheather gets hot yet majorly its dehydrated Kar Nar
+Aishwarya Sharma awesome! I'm the same, I hope it works just as well for me. Thanks!
when did you apply the concealer? after or before powerding your face? 😊
Have you guys tried this ? What did you think? Leave your comments and let me know :)
Seemed a bit crazy though, beforehand :D
Went through a few of your videos and it was just delightful. You have pretty amazing skills and the tips are fresh. Also truly appreciate the compact and non-condescending way of delivery. Thanks for sharing, you rock!
***** HI im in love with yours videos I LOVED the tip u told about and the other one by using oil
im arabic woman and every one ask for what i did in my make up thank you hope u reply
I tried this 2 days in a row; game changer! I have combination skin and it stayed all day without touch ups 💛

I’d love to know too!
@@HATSONIC I have oily skin. It works for me.

No lie, this actually worked for me! I was skeptical, but I'll probably be doing this from now on.
WOOHOO! xx
regisphilbin222 Do you have oily or dry skin
Just clumps up and gets patchy and I’ve tried every single way
aMusingMisFIT-tingINMaYhem MouSe Instead of a brush for powder, have you tried just a little bit of powder on a cotton pad and lightly press it on? Or, if it's too much moisturizer, take a tissue and press it lightly over your face to blot the excess before you powder. Just ideas. It's possible that you have very dry skin and need a stronger moisturizer.

Being a 50 year old I have been looking for new makeup techniques for my hormonal skin. I watched many of your videos and thought to try this one.
Well, IT WORKED so well. My skin looked luminescent and supple. Not dry and hormonal!
Thank you for making a 50 year old feel pretty! New subscriber!
Yeah! Me too!
Same situation, so I'm going to give this a go.
What does it mean a hormonal skin....??
I'm 40 and I agree!

OMG I was thinking the same when I saw this video in my recommendation 😄😋
That's the problem. People almost always assume they know better as opposed to being open-minded enough to learn something new everyday.
Does it have to be loose powder? Or can I use a brush with compact powder?

Same reverse theory works well with your hair as well! Condition your hair first and then wash it, amazing results! Love this video and I love the way my face feels when I follow his instructions!
Oh?!
I do exactly the same the reverse wash because putting the conditioner on last leaves my hair too soft and floppy , Putting it on first it is still doing it’s job .

Everyone is talking about this cool new method now in 2017. A bunch of you tubers are posting videos about powder before foundation...When you suggested this back in 2014. I started doing this after I saw your video in March of 2014 . You started this in my opinion. Your the best !
This worked very well for my skin I have oily skin 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 amazin tip

@@jonipinson6653 I’m not an expert but using a fluffy powder brush with powder foundation doesn’t really work. Powder foundation works better with a dense, kabuki style brush.

Thanks! I have yo try this ;)
Wow this is actually genius.. the powder sucks in all the oil to prevent the foundation from melting away 🤯
OMG! I wanted to try this for by itself, rather than under foundation, and it was amazing. A shimmer primer after moisture, followed by loose powder, gave me amazing coverage. I have redness in my cheeks and it evened everything out. Thanks for posting this tip. It's fantastic!
What products do you use? Thanks!
And tik tokers rumbling they "invented" a technique that's been around for decades...

Love!
I don't see the benefit of him applying to models, because we do our own makeup everyday, not someone else's.
Try a finishing powder with a warm, pale yellow tint to it. This will combat the redness! Many cool toned (pink based) women are scared of yellow powder but it is actually made for them! Anything "banana" colored.
Sephora has there brand and the shade is called banana. Reasonably priced.
use waterproof foundation it really helps for me.
