    👩🏿‍⚕️ Pros of working remotely: Save money on food, gas, and toll, avoid road detours and traffic, get chores done during breaks
    👩🏿‍⚕️ Don’t get to interact with patients in person, cant socialize at work

    I love the Ghana Flag.
    My ancestry isn’t from Ghana, but I love your flag because it inspires people from there to be successful in life like yourself.

    I was diagnosed with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) & it upended my life terribly. I was misdiagnosed multiple times & spent a lot of time in multiple different hospitals. The psychiatric nurses were amazing to me and I’ve always wanted to be a nurse since I was in high school. Now that all my alters have fused with me (the end goal of talk therapy) & I’m back to just my one original personality I’m going back to school for nursing with the end goal of being a Psychiatric Nurse practitioner. I think my experience gave me a unique perspective on mental illness and DID so I would be especially understanding of those in my care.

    Did you start as a new grad? If so, what advice would you give to a new grad PMHNP desiring to do tele. All of my clinicals has been tele due to Covid, so I'm use to it & don't want to go in-person. haha

      No I was a family np first, but I started my psych np doing tele…I have a video that shares my advice for nps…but I would say be prepared to start seeing patients right after orientation because most jobs do not train so you want to be as knowledgeable as possible on diagnoses and treatment, psych is most subjective so it can be challenge…I order a pearls for psych np course, check it out at www.pearlsfornps.com

    hi there! i have a few questions since i’m very interested in being a psych np :)
    - did you get your ADN or BSN to become a psych np? and do you know if theres a difference in the two, or which one is better?
    - when you became an RN, did you work in psych units?
    - did you become remote after becoming a psych NP?
    thank you in advance!!

    • @pearlsfornps
      @pearlsfornps  8 місяців тому +2

      Hi, I got my BSN in Nursing, then got my Masters in Nursing to become a Family NP then went for my Psych NP 4 years later…As a RN, I did not work on any psych units just surgical care and observation for a total of 5 years, yes I work remote as a Psych NP but go to the office 5 days a month because a provider has to be on site for TMS mapping, while in the office I see patients remotely

    Hello! I just passed my ANCC board and have interviews lined up next week. Did you work remotely right after passing your board or did you have live patient encounter as a provider first?

    • @pearlsfornps
      @pearlsfornps  8 місяців тому +1

      Good luck on your interviews. I become a psych np in 2021, so I worked remotely for all my psych jobs, now I currently have to go to the office 5 days a month in supervising TMS treatments.

      @@pearlsfornps Thank you for the reply! For something like dissociative identity disorder, how many symptoms have to be present to confirm that is what they are suffering from? Also, is it even possible to diagnose in a one hour session? Symptoms such as sudden memory loss seem as though they’d be very difficult to diagnose in such a short session. I am so intrigued about this career path.

      At least 2 personality states, it can take more then one visit to visit to diagnose complex mental health conditions.
