ZCam is amazing! Such a great history & their new cameras look so incredible! 6k RAW for $4000??? AND I cam use my phone as a monitor?! Take my money. I cant wait to see the image quality.
Been using the ZCam E2 for 2 months now.. It's an amazing camera. Moreover, the community support from the company is something which you will never get from any other brands like Canon, Nikon.. Even BMD!
How's the autofocus on the E2? I've been looking for information on it and can't seem to find very much. I do a lot of run and gun shooting so autofocus is pretty important for me.
ZCAM is amazing, if you follow their facebook group you'll see how much feedback is important to them and how much they listen. Other companies should envy their customer relationship. Amazing firmware updates back to back. They're here to stay
8:13 BOMB DROPPED > you can use an Ipad as a hardwired external monitor. Seriously, this is huge. You can pick up a cheap ipad or iphone as a monitor? That's awesome.
I'm currently filming with BlackMagic Cinema Micro (yes, FullHD, not 4K), with hooked up Inquisition prototype to control it, but Z-Cam E2G is tempting
I wonder how this will stack up against the BM G2. This is all super exciting, but haven't seen too much about the company at all. Z Cam vs all the other "budget" cinema cameras is going to be a tight race imo when it comes to image, specs, customer service/loyalty, build-ability, etc. Etc. Can't wait to see more more coverage and footage.
DITLONAY I’ve had my original E2 since September, and it’s an amazing camera. 4K/120fps from the very beginning and a constant stream of firmware improvements every few months. Other thing to note is the color handling of their ZLOG2 mode is amazing, and holds up very well in side by side usage with an Alexa
@@ditlonay Bloom has some great videos on those cameras. But I'm always been a fan of the crazy underdog. Really, everything depends on your gig. Will you have lighting and time or are you run and gun. Inside, Outside? Upside down? 😜
Not necessarily. RAW has come to be a marketing term for a lot of very different approaches to intermediate recording codecs. So while RED has solid patents, they may not be applicable based on where on the process that sensor data is stored and compressed ( before de-bayeeing, after, Integer float or half-float color values, per photo site electrical values, ... )
They won't, zCam is using an Open Source Raw format based on Cineform. The Raw launching soon will be 3:1 Raw. You can read more Details on reddit: www.reddit.com/r/zcame2
That mount is primarily to use speedboosters and get full frame field of view. We requested this in the z cam facebook group and they obliged. Amazing company.
They should license BRAW for their cameras instead of having another codec. I guess you could use BlackMagic's new recorder as a viewer and potential RAW capture in the future. The one thing that bothers me about this camera is the lack of frame rate speeds. I'd like 120fps option. Something similar to RED in terms of FPS options. Blackmagic Pocket 6K can record directly to USB-C which is also much better and affordable than CFAST cards. Even recording directly to an M.2 SSD would be amazing because of the speed of those drives you could probably get 8K 120+ fps!
It's affordable but an Ursa mini pro g2 is 5.999, so two thousand more and you get DaVinci software a big touch LCD and till now a bit more of reliability in company history. Nikon con output raw and probably also the next sony will. It's great news and I like the small body but the price isn't groundbreaking like the Cinema pocket. They should try and dl sell it for 2999.
This out specs the ursa mini g2. He said it S6 would do 6k 60p and 4k 100p. The ursa mini is 4.6k. Yes this is bare bones and you'll need to kit it out with monitors and such, but it is a higher resolution at a pretty impressive frame rate. Of course we will have to see if it actually delivers on this front, but 6k 60p raw under $4000 is kind of groundbreaking.
@@ISunnyChicken plus the higher frame rates on the G2 keep cropping the sensor as they increase in fps. Unless I missed something I don't think that's the case on the ZCAM.
Having an 8k camera doesn't mean you have to deliver the output to 8k. It means you future proof your setup and give room to play especially for adding special effects. Don't be daft. And its not an everyday camera its a cinema camera.
I’m very excited for this but was really hoping that the new Full Frame 6K and 8K models coming out would’ve had a Global Shutter option instead of just Rolling Shutter. It would have been ALMOST the perfect cameras. and if they added an internal ND’s It would be perfect. and let’s not forget how intuitive the small built in screen on top of the camera is. Ease of use is what makes Arri and Blackmagic also very popular, also their accessibility to US retailers such as B&H Photo & Adorama. Definitely gives you confidence. Unlike Kinefinity unfortunately. I almost purchased the Mavo LF but was too concerned about spending all that money towards it with lack of reliability and places to purchase. though the color science and the images it produces are really amazing.
Customer service for Z Cam is really bad, Did try their E1 camera broke after 5 months of purchase with just a few uses, could not find a customer support number in the USA to call, email them a few times, responded once, but never supported their product.
OMC Productions sorry to hear that. This is not usual as myself and plenty of other users have had nothing but amazing support from them. Great but not for raw. Why are they making their own raw format? Will it be as edit friendly as prores Raw or Blackmagic Raw? I don't think so. Apple and Blackmagic spent years to develop these formats so it has to be difficult and expensive to do. Plus, we will have to wait forever to see this format becoming supported in Premiere, Davinci and Final Cut... We will have to convert every single video to an other format for being able to edit it, it will be the most time consuming and frustrating thing... Zcam had everything right but not for this decision. They better be implementing Prores Raw and/or Blackmagic Raw in their cameras, the latter being totally free and open source.
