Watched both videos, simply as a heads up. I'm looking at getting this same model. All reviews, including yours, have been very helpful.

      Good idea.
Hook this baby up to a 300 gal propane yard tank / thru a Transfer Switch (or Panel Input breaker w/ main lockout) and you are nearly impervious to multi day outages !
Plus you use 35% vs big wasteful twin cylinder 20kw units.
My neighbors with those were on fumes by day 4 of our 8 day outage....

As new as this generator is you shouldn't be working on it. I have two old Coleman Powermate generators over 25 years old still running no problems!!! Even have manually over speed past governor many of times still no problems.

I bought the same model back in 2016, It ran for 10 hours and I had to replace the
Carb, now it runs fine until you put a load on it, and it dies. These are Chinese Junk.@@tomtee4442

Thank you so much for this video, I have a Champion 9000/7000 - 8100/6300 duel fuel generator. After watching this video I ordered the parts for the brushes and the AVR cost me $63.90 total from Champion company themselves. They were very helpfull and had the parts in on 2-3 days. They say 5 business days but they were very quick. It was easy to install and it started right up and ran great. If who ever reads this, if you can't get it to run on gasoline or propane and you don't see anything on your read out showing your hrs, htz and out voltage output. Then I would say that this what is wrong with your generator.

Just used my Champion 100165 yesterday for a 12 hour outage.
Never knew that a bad AVR could cause shutdown. Thanks for sharing!

Decided to pull the trigger and order one of these! We are Texas ice storm survivors here as well. :-) The fact that yours have performed so well and that champion customer service was so responsive sold us.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video.. even while babysitting a grandchild! LOL

Um... So how do you test to see if it's the voltage regulator?

That's good Champion came through for you. From your first video it sounded like electronics shutting it off.
It's nice when things work out. Good video, cheers from Canada.

Thanks for the video. I'm looking into getting our first generator and I'm seriously considering a Champion 100891. It's 7500 running watts and I already found a transfer switch similar to yours. The customer service you talked about has pretty much sold me on the idea.

Dude, I wanted to let you know. Thank you, thank you, thank you for mentioning the troubleshooting you did before finding the solution. The low oil sensor was the key. I learned how to take apart and clean a carburator before finding your videos so I am not too upset that I spent that time but if you hadnt of mentioned the low oil, who knows how long I would of been lost for. I think it was mentioned in the other video so I will post the same comment there as well. Thank you again, sincerely.

Great video. I've got basically the same unit, model 100296, that I'm trying to install a wireless remote start onto with some various components that cost about $40. Since the kill switch involves multiple wires I was trying to find a two wire solution to kill the motor with the wireless remotes. I was looking at using the low oil shutoff switch yellow wire that goes into the VFO diode behind the switch panel. It was hard to tell which component was the VFO diode so I was looking for a picture when I found this video. During my search I discovered I can't find that part anywhere except on Champion's parts page. Hopefully they stay in business for a long time to get these parts. It's rare not to find parts on ebay or Amazon.

How did you set up the outside set up to plug your your generator to your house?

  • @raymondgarafano8604

If gen runs out of gas with a load, it can muck up the regulator, so u should check gas
    from time to time.

Some gens just use a bridge rectifier from exciter winding in stator to brushes with no regulator.

I put a new carburetor on my champion generator new spark plug and it’ll run good for a few minutes or less then it shuts down like it lost fuel. I don’t understand it’s getting spark to the spark plug, new spark plug but do you think it might have something to do with the AVR also?

    • @jasoncampbell2859
      @jasoncampbell2859 Рік тому

But mine is gas only and mine don’t have a solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor

Crack your gas cap. You may have a bad cap not allowing tank to vent causing vacuum.

Just got the champion dual fuel 2500 watt back in April of this year 2023. I have used it 6 times for about 3 hours a clip and have changed the oil twice. It's already doing this. Starts for 3 seconds or so and shuts off. Never used fuel always just use the propane. I will check with champion but I don't think I would ever purchase another Champion product seems like its crap to me. Not impressed even though everyone rants and raves about them. You would think the product would last longer then 6 months.

Praise the lord for a beautiful day... Wait... does this mean that gods are only good for beautiful days and that is why so many die from covid, aids, cancer etc? Darn.. too bad we don't have gods that take care of people and just make beautiful days.
