For console users you can remap the buttons in console setting outside of the game for the same affect. Xb has controller profiles you can save, not sure about PS.
The true meaning of wavedash is not how fast we do it, but for the possibility of mixup. With the rịght thumb on the right stick, I doubt whether you can mix iWs 1, ff3, f4 with this method
better version of the same method: bind all left stick inputs to their right stick equivalents use pad for horizontal inputs, right stick for vertical inputs input the following: f(pad), n, d(stick), d(stick)+f(pad), n, f(pad)... can also be used to korean backdash: b(pad), n, b(pad), d(stick)+b(pad), b(pad)... I developed the technique a year or two ago to emulate the hitbox crossup on pad. this version of the method eliminates the need for diagonal inputs altogether, and can also be used in various other ways such as sidestep dash cancels, quarter circles/half circles etc.
@Dark Triad Chad I personally don't use this method all the time. it's most useful when you want to get really precise movement, but don't immediately anticipate needing to perform an attack, like when you need to cover a lot of ground with wavedash or create a lot of space with kbd or similar things
@Dark Triad Chad for me it's become just another option for movement, rather than my preferred method I'll generally use regular pad movement for backdash, wavedash etc., but switch to crossup controls if I want a really precise input for optimal spacing or timing. then I'll switch back to standard pad controls for inputs like electric or deathfist one place I do still find it useful is for jin zen cancel: ZEN > d/f(stick) > CD > b(pad)
Or just practice normally and get the same results. After some time of play your wavedash is gonna look like the last example. Start slow and increase speed gradually.
Thanks for this! Helped me improve my wavedash quite a bit actually :) btw, what is that music in the abckground? It sounds soooo fammiliar but I cant put my finger on it haha
Doesn't this require both of your hands to it this fast? I don't think I'll try this but I imagine it would be pretty uncomfortable to press the 1,2,3 and 4 buttons doing wavedash in this way.
The d-pad gets used less this way than a wavedash input since the first input is used on R3. But I get what you mean! My controller is still alive and well at least!
Fightsticks are twice as hard and three times as expensive. Either get a mixbox/hitbox, map your four buttons to the triggers and use both the pad and joystick, or just practice
