Rathalos MH1 was a pain to fight back then. I was still a 12 year old kid when I started playing the game and it doesn't help that I was so used to the combat in hack n slash games like Ninja Gaiden and DMC. I remember the many attempts that I did trying to kill it, making me change my playstyle every time especially during the later tries from the GS, hammer to lance. I didn't had access to internet and none of the friends that I know at the time even knew abt MH, so much as played it so I didn't get help at all outside of the game itself. Eventually I managed to slay it with a hbg using normal ammo lvl 1 (I didn't even know what I was doing and I ain't a gunner don't judge me) and I kid you not it was one of the most satisfying feeling that I have ever felt. From that moment the MH series became my favorite games to play up till today albeit me rage quitting MH1 bcs of the Rathian quest that follows after that lol.

I'm so happy that you had the same struggles no matter how bad this might sound, haha. It took me ages too like I mentioned in the video. Rathian was hard but okay for me. Finding Basarios took me so long, my Gravios runs always lasted a minimum of 40 minutes and the quest "Troublesome Pair" was the final offline quest and slaying both Rathalos and Rathian at the same quest made me feel like a God. I had spent so many hours crafting every single armor in the game to the point where I had no inventory slots at the item box and I would sell earlier armor. When I finished my Gravios armor I was all done. A jealous friend of mine saved a character over my save in order to delete my progress. Never knew why that was and he told me he didn't do anything. Of course I believed him and moved on with my life, I had completely beat the game anyways. Now as an adult I know he did it. Anyhow, like you I fell in love with the series and couldn't find it anywhere. I wasn't too familiar with the usage of the internet to buy things until way later on in life. I was checking video clubs for games and Monster Hunter was some sort of rare gem. Difficult but fun times

@@CasoresDen That's the funny thing, Rathian should've been much more manageable for me compared to Rathalos and she's essentially a punching bag in the later games but my energy was so low when I reached her that I just gave up. Plus, I didn't get much chance playing the game bcs I was sharing the console with my cousins and we each play different games and since they were older, young me had to comply to them when they wanna play their games. It was only when I got my hands on a PSP was I able to experience hunting mons like Basarios and Gravios which was in MHFU and my Gog were they a pain in the ass, especially Gravios. Newer additions such as Tigrex and Nargacuga easily became my favorites during that time and I even made it to the elders but man, those hunts were something else back then.

Hey man awesome video! I really enjoy your monster hunter content. Also, if you have a 3ds, you can get mh 3 and 4 ult. They were on sale when I got them on the store. Might be a good idea to buy them before Nintendo shuts down the 3ds store. I also wanted to ask if you have a discord server?

Hahaha yes it was. I don't know how my friend got this game. To this day I've met only 1-2 people who had a copy of it. Before world whenever I would mention monster hunter as a game people would look at me like puppies

But really I'm happy that the time brought us all together to experience Monster Hunter anew. Such a great experience to see people play it who never knew of it and you just sitting there and recognizing the past of the game and all it went through.

@@CloudAkA21 I totally agree with you. It was a little different back then and people always feel sad for not being teens again but to be honest you can feel the excitement of something new again, I know I have whenever a new title comes out. As long as I enjoy the game, make comfort builds, play with others and have fun.

That's what I'm telling people who are missing play-styles from older games including "clutch claw" or even the good old "paintballs" those are things that defined Monster Hunter back in the times there where presented.
People who remember those days, I think can be called good hunters by now but it isn't only the player that evolved also the world in which we hunt evolves on it own for me it seems like with every new installment of the game the hunters in their respective games are getting better and better, too. Like for example they aren't bound to paintballs anymore or to people flying over the terrain scouting from a hot-airballoon waiting for you to wave at them so they can give you the information about the monsters current location, we now have our own trained owls to scout the area for us we are getting more and more efficient as a whole not just the player but the hunters too. And looking at that, it is something I really love about this game.

That's such a nice take on the things the game gives you. I love the fresh new ideas too. Wirebugs didn't make a whole lot of sense but I absolutely love them. Clutch Claw was nice too. The only thing I didn't love was that in Rise the Cahoot helps you find the monster immediately. Cool and all, since we have some inteligent pets to help us with hunts but I really miss trying to track down the monster. World did it best and since it was the most recent title before Rise, I felt a little underwhelmed. Paintballs were fun and all but it's not like the game dies without them. I feel like it's taking a good direction and they definitely learn. See how people cried about Rise's difficulty and now Sunbreak proved us all wrong. It could have been better but Idk how bothered Capcom were with the whole covid situation. Let's enjoy the next year or two before the next title update!
