So today i am going to be running through my top tips on how to get a job at Starbucks. If you want to get hired at Starbucks there are three main stages to go through: the application, the interview and the trial shift. I will summarise my tips for the application, interview and trial shift below
For the Starbucks application: show that you have the key attributes that Starbucks are looking for Starbucks are looking for. You can find these by looking on the Starbucks website so you know what to include in your Starbucks application. Make sure that you show times you have demonstrated these and do not just produce a list!!
For the Starbucks interview: Every Starbucks interview will be different, but if you search online you can find questions that are commonly asked at a Starbucks interview. Make sure that you have planned some answers so that you can effectively show why you are a perfect candidate for a role as a Starbucks barista.
For the Starbucks trial shift: BE YOURSELF!! Make sure that you are friendly, smiley and enthusiastic to learn. At a Starbucks trial shift they will not be expecting you to know absolutely everything, but make sure you come across with the characteristics Starbucks require, and make a good impression!

are they still hiring during covid and are any rules different?
I know that some stores in my area are hiring for when the lockdowns ease, so it may be that you apply now and don't start your job untill things are back to normal. However, i am aware that some stores are freezing employment completely so it really depends on where you live and what the stores in your area are doing!! All the very best of luck!!!!
how long do they take to call you back after you apply?
Was it awkward applying to a store you regularly visit? Do they always advertise jobs? I looked on Starbucks website for jobs, but it's listed for some stores that permanently closed over a year ago, so I don't know how accurate/up to date it is.
Jayonnah Darbouze it will depend on where you are applying!! For me it was just under 2 weeks but this could be different based on where you are applying and due to covid-19!!
I applied and she phoned me completely out of the blue and asked me questions like why do you want to work for us and I panicked cause I didn’t have time to prepare my answers 😥 but she said come in on Monday for a trial shift! Nervous but you helped a lot 😃

Update: I got the job!! the interview was only thirty minutes and they asked me several questions like "Tell me about yourself", "Why do you want to work at Starbucks?", "Give me an example of time that you experienced excellent customer service", "How would you provide excellent customer service?", and "Give me an example of time where you were in a team with members who had conflicting opinions on something." That was basically it! Be prepared for some three part questions, my interviewer read all three parts at once so you have to pay good attention and make sure you answer all three. Other than that just be yourself, they want to get a feel for your personality and asses wether or not you are truly a people-person capable of making quick connections and smooth small talk. Good luck, you've got this!

Once I had applied they got back to me within around 2 weeks, although that was before the current situation so I'm not too sure how long it would be now, I know that some places are freezing hiring anyone completely, but I'm not sure other than that!! is it ok to call starbucks after you apply?
Considering calling in to check on the status of the job. I just feel bad calling just to say who I am and if the job was filled. I just feel like they’re super busy and I wouldn’t want to bug them. Is calling in a week after you put in your application a good idea. Is it better if I do it in the morning so there not as busy?
I think that is a brilliant idea, it shows how keen you are and will put your mind at ease! Worst case scenario the position has gone and you can let them know and see that you are very interested in future roles! I think its a great idea one week after applying - and I'd call at around 10:30 - Gives the store time to open up and sort out stock and is before the lunch rush! All the best

I have a question, let’s say there are multiple stores around the city and one of them is closer/better than other, is there any chance that one can recommend themselves to join that particular store ? Or does Starbucks just put you wherever they want !”?
Yes of course!! You can hand in your resume to that particular store to show you have a stronger interest! If that store is also closer to your home that is a great reason to ask on your application! However it is so easy to change stores you work in once you are employed, so you could always transfer! Good luck :)
I guess I'm in an odd situation- I had no prior existence before getting the job and my old manager said they'd teach me as I go however, now I have a new manager and I'm freaking out since it's my first shift this weekend and I'm worried they'll expect me to know everything- I was only taught how to make the cold drinks so im pretty anxious ;-;

I’m terms of what to wear, I would recommend smart casual, so for my interview I wore a pair of black jeans and a nice-ish top with some nice shoes. As long as you look presentable that is the main thing!! Top tip would be to be happy and chatty, at the end of the day your job will be to be great with people, so show off that you have great interpersonal skills. Hi!! Did the experience get cancelled due to covid? If so, I’m so sorry!! I would definitely keep it on for now, because it shows initiative and drive that you were able to get work experience!!! Once you do the experience/ do something else you can change it but for now I would put something along the lines of ‘summer 2020- work experience at (name of company) cancelled due to Covid-19. Waiting to rearrange.’

Hi Kaitlyn! A CV is basically a resume with one side of paper with your experience and skills on it!

It will depend on the area and region you are working in!! Hours will also vary and can vary from shift to shift. I would recommend having a look online or asking in your local store!

I applied for the second time two days ago (they say you can apply 60 days after an application) and I had gone into the Starbucks in my town to talk to the shift supervisor that was in. They said they would mention me to their manager and I would be able to call the next day or so. I called in yesterday and because it was happy hour, the manager said she would call me either today or Monday. If she does or does not call, what are some ways that I can help ensure I at least get an interview? I really really am determined to get this job and I would really appreciate some help or tips. Hi! Well, to start with, i think it shows great passion and determination that you have applied twice and taken time to go into the store!! If the manager does not call on Monday, I would recommend calling on Tuesday at a time when you think the store will be quiet so that you can speak to the manager and ask about the job. Even doing this should show how keen you are and hopefully she may ask you in!
If she does call, it may be that she asks some interview questions over the phone, so i would recommend brushing up on some Starbucks facts or looking up some potential questions she may ask. This may be over-preparing, but its better than being under-prepared!! Other than that, when she calls make sure that you are super enthusiastic and show how determined you are (Mention that you have applied twice and that you went into the store- I know that many people may be applying to this job so make sure she is reminded about what YOU have done!) She wasn’t there but the employee there had my name and number, it’s been a week and I still haven’t heard anything. I don’t know what to do and my application still says it is active. HI!!! I think it will really depend on the store and how many staff they have to cover a Saturday!! In the store I worked in they had a student who only did 4 hours on one day a week, so it would definitely be worth going in and asking! all the best!!!

i called back a week after submitting an application and asked for a manager. she kind of sounded annoyed and like she only offered me an interview since *I* reached out, is that a good sign or should I try a different location?
Personally, I would go to the interview and see what the vibe is like when you are speaking face to face with the staff/ manager. It may be that she was tired or stressed when you called, and that in reality the people are really nice there. If they aren't then you still will have the choice not to work there and you can apply elsewhere!

Hi! I need major help! I applied last week, I had gotten no response so I called yesterday asking for the manager to see my application status, the manager wasn't there but I asked the shift supervisor to leave a note with my number and name. How long should I wait until I call again? I'm not sure if it's taking long rn because of COVID but I'm very eager to have this job.
I recommend calling on a monday morning for the manager, they are usually at the store all day long! That's what I did and I was able to speak to them

It's been about a week since I sent in an application online through their website, should I call the store at a slow time of business to speak with the manager about how I applied online and was wondering if now is an okay time to talk about my application?
i just did the same! i called in a week after i applied online and the manager wasn’t there so the shift manager left a note and i just got a call today from the manager to call whenever i can to talk about my application so i definitely recommend calling if you haven’t already and good luck to you !
