Just bought one with black micarta, orange liners, satin finish. Just dropped today. Can't wait to get it. I haven't been this excited for a large in I can't remember how long. Thanks for giving me a heads up through your video Chris.
Your channel is the reason I have a Legion and a Tier-1 mini (non-colab). Seriously looking forward to having this one and putting it through it's paces.
Good Looking knife, ideal for an outdoorsman or survivalist kit, practical length for anything under what you are better off using an axe or machette for or where you need the concealment of a folder. USA made is important especially as it will last for generations. Nice knife.
Good looking knife. I get leary of submerged oil sheaths. Reason being had one from LT Wright and the sheath was weak and leaked oil for a week and 3 days after they had it back to replace. Over the weekend there it ruined several papers on the desk. That was 2 weeks after I got it.
Rick the production sheaths do not come like that, and you are correct, leather can be submerged too long and become over-saturated. When I do dip a sheath for a guys custom its submerged for only a few seconds, and the MOLLE (belt) Straps are just dipped in-out because they WILL get over-saturated and weep into your clothing. I have never encountered the weakening of leather because it was oiled. It was much more pliable for sure but not weaker. Thanks for the comments brother man, v/r Erik of FOBOS Knives
Damn you Chris, lol.I just dropped $1500 on a 50 BMG, now I gotta get this blade! Which my man will try to claim as his because I know he’ll love it but he’s got his SXB, I can have this! Thanks for sharing, though my bank account will be crying!
How does this compare to the Legion? If you still own that it would be awesome to compare side by side and field test. I’ve wanted one of those knives for a long time
Off topic: Blisters come from the varnish on the shovel handle, and of course lack of callous. Soft hands? Remove the varnish and oil the wood! I’ve never required jumping on any tool. But it don’t bother me either. *** referring to the remark in the video. ***
OMG! This big-ass slab of 3v just pushes all the buttons for me! And that sheath!!! If you can't get chicks with this on your belt... I give it 10 out of 10 on the John Wick scale!
Can you say more about the oil immersion treatment? Did you literally submerse the sheath in a vat of Obenauf’s? If yes, for how long? Upon removal from the oil did you simply use a rag to remove the excess oil?
I'd recommend the mini. Everyone different, but I can't say anything about it that I dislike. I'd describe it as a small knife that is a beast. I couldn't imagine what you'd have to do to damage it in anyway. If I'm going somewhere and need a smaller knife that's going to see actual abuse, I bring it. I swapped out to a cheap kydex sheath from ebay, not that anything was wrong with its original, just wasn't my style
@@andyralph5525 thanks for the recommendation I’ll def pick one up if I can run in to the acid washed model the I destroy satin finishes on fixed blades. They scratch up so easy and look horrible
Nice looking knife. If I didn't already have the Legion, I'd probably grab one, but the 2 are similar enough that I see no reason to own both. I do like it though.
@@derekcarpenter7459 I realize that, but I have plenty of hard use knives, more than I'll ever need in fact, so I still have no need to own both. It's a fine looking blade, and I'm sure it will serve anyone with a need for one well.
I was going to cry about the blade length and the stupid 4" limit I have to deal with, but I found the mini version. C'mon UPS... get your thumb out and get moving.
@@adventuresandmore4463 where did you place the pre order? These aren’t currently being made for another drop. There are a few other FOBOS models being made right now but another run of Tier 1’s won’t be for awhile.
Hey there sexy, come here often? I got a place we can go if ya wanna get outta here 😈 But for real that is amazingly nice looking blade aesthetically and for practical reasons. I was unaware of FOBOS so I am super thankful for this post! They will b getting some of my hard earned money for sure! #stimulascheck #cmonalready

Convex and recurve? This is designed to improve cut and slicing that a thick stock like this, shouldn't be great at...but, that will also make it, difficult to sharpen.I wouldn't use a ceramic rod on that style of edge, that would destroy the convexing and the edge bevel angle. I would prefer if it didn't have the recurve edge, it would be way more ideal, especially for the field sharpening ability. Fobos are really bad ass knives, since most will be sitting in a knife collection, rather than used regularly, then the recurve-convexed edge, is not a disadvantage, actually it makes it look cooler, so that's an advantage, speaking mostly, from collectors perspective.
I took my FOBOS Tier-1 Mini to a survival class this past summer and it performed admirably. It was leant to a Marine for 3 days and he came away impressed by its build and performance. And I got it back without any visible teeth marks. I am not a collector of anything, in the sense that I preserve a tool unused. I can't wait to get my hands on the TIER-1 in CPM 3V!
@@banditgriot2000 Great knife for sure, but the most experienced bladesmith I know, told me once, that "when it comes to knives, simple is always better" I guess, I took it more seriously than I should since then. @@greekveteran2715 there is no Barkriver version of this knife my friend. I collab'd my Tier1-mini, not this full-sized Tier1. The recurve on my Tier1 series of designs is subtle enough they can be sharpened on a WE.
