Thanks for the reviews Chris...they’re always entertaining and informative. I have various bushcraft style knives (Mora Black, Larry Roberts Genesis) and just wanted something a bit different. Got my Legion in the mail today and HOLY $#1T, this thing is a beast!!! By the way, not all of us stick to a budget!
DLT is great. I missed the window and they were sold out. I used their email me when available... late Friday night I got the email and picked one up immediately. I promised myself no more knives for a while and you are to blame. But glad I did lol.
It looks like a knife that just wants to work! You could buy this as an all-purpose camp knife or every day carry, hell sharpen the back end an you have a fighter as well. Change the scales to a nice hard wood with some natural oil and shape the scales to suite your hand and you have a near perfect knife! This is a knife I would definitely love to own!
PREPAREDMIND101 your killing me smalls I been putting some cash together this week just a little shy getting paid tomorrow at 4 and there all going to be gone. Only if you would have waited 24 more hours.
PREPAREDMIND101 I ended just putting it on credit because there was like 5 or 6 left. After your video I figured they would be gone. Are you going to check out the smaller version as well ??
By the way, according to Mike Stewart the extra length added to the choil is for striking a firesteel. And don’t forget you can remove the handle to use as a spear, for easy cleaning, and for whatever other survival purposes. And the sheath is MOLE comparable. And it can go over (on both sides of) a belt loop so it doesn’t slide around. This thing is definitely on my want list. But I just got in on the final run of the Grizzly, and I have an Aurora LT Cru-Wear on order - so next year I’ll get a Legion.
The blade geometry is very similar and I would say is a shorter version of the Cold Steel Trailmaster. The 1/4" thick at the spine , distal taper and a convex grind... both as you say blast thru wood. BTW yes I have one of the CS in San Mai and I just received one of the last 'Legions' Knives Ship Free were selling (apparently they have sold out, so I got lucky)... actually it is an amazing knife. Agree, not sure I like the flat area of the choil either... but the knife in general kicks butt. FOBOS design built by Bark River is a great combination... Yes, your review triggered my 'impulse buy' ... (so I hate you 🤣 in a good way). All the (continued) VERY BEST!
Just watch the Tier 1 Mini video. Nice. When you suggested that there may be some 3V versions in the future, that just made this thing Jessica. If another designer would have some more 3V versions of his knife, I'd be buying a couple more of those also. That JX2 is awesome btw.
G'day Chris, Stone the crows! That's amazing. I don't believe in vampires but I'm gettin' me one of these just to have a supply of wooden stakes! JX5 and this... what else does one need? Thanks for the heads-up; now gettin' one from DLT will take swift action... bye! Cheers, B.H.
Just sent mine back to barkriver, there gonna pin/epoxy the handles on for me, cann't wait to get it back, great knife, great service, great knife company.....keep up the awesome video's.....
Interesting. Seems somewhat comparable to the Fällkniven A1 Pro. Thick spine, convex grind, stainless, metal pommel, slightly front heavy, crazy baton/chop/cut. The A1 Pro drops the old school sheath and the gimping and adds rubber handle and metal guard.
Chris is yours g-10 or bcm scales because I ordered bcm & I’m just wondering if my handle scales will be as black as yours. Sometimes bcm tends to come out a bit greyish. I have a Gunny like that. Either way I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
That thing is a knife with the capabilities of a small hatchet. Very impressive. Also need to know the HRC and it needs to be accurate. 154cm is a good steel but most makers have stayed away from putting it into a giant chopper for a reason. Not as confident in it's durability plus if it were to fail that would be kinda expensive. But seeing as how thick the blade spine is I think they have it under control
Chris have you seen the new Fiskers dimond sharpener at home depot. Its close in size to the carbide one with red handle that you use for a striker but has a orange handlle.it will strike a ferro rod but could be improved plus is a diamond sharpener.Love your chanel.
Love that Frickin knife , nice to see you soo enthusiastic . As far as thickness of the spine and batoning , it reminds me of my CS Recon Scout . I love a thick ass survival knife that slices like a laser ...
#preparedmind101 Is this better than an esee 6? I am looking at a good user in this price range, I would like to see the tops 7 operator too. Dam it I am itching to buy something right now. Maybe a miller bros but that wouldn't be a user.
For about five seconds, as you turn the knife the sun follows the edge and it looks really cool. You even pause and there's a sparkle on the very tip. Looks intentional but I know you couldn't see the light effect from the camera angle perspective when you were videoing. Not trolling, honest - it was just a minor observation. Actually it's really more like at 21:49. Either way, nevermind - I can barely even see it now when I try. ;)
Nice knife collection Chris, I only have 3 Jessica listed knives LT Wright Outback(Thanks to your review) GSO 4.1 (New spec) And a really nice Scandi from a place called KRF Customs you should check them out
Did Bark River increase the prices of there knives? I went on dlt trading and looked at some of the bravo 1.25 LT in cruwear and damn...nearly $300 ? whats up with this?
I agree, though, but not just aesthetically-speaking. Functionally, the choil should not be cut into the grind. An eighth- to a quarter-of-an-inch relief would've done it... would've sold me. Love me my Bark Rivers, tho. Hope they produce some bigger "edged tools" in CPM-154. In the woods, on prolonged trips, I like to run a multitool, and a Bravo 1.25(5 in. blade) in S35VN. I like the low maintenance of stainless. Along with a folding saw, I'd really like a large chopping knife than a proper axe (too much weight) or even a hatchet (not enough chopping power, but equally heavy). I hope Bark River puts out a Kukri that would give my Zombie Tools Vakra a run for its money. The Vakra gives me clearing(like a machete), chopping, batoning, and drawknifing capabilities. The single edge is really nice for the drawknifing, while easy on the baton. >>> BRKT: Get the shape right. They say it can't be done in stainless, but I know you can. Also, please hit a home run with the sheath. The sheaths to all machetes and Kuk's suck!!!
First time in a WHILE I've heard you actually happy with testing a new knife. Your like a kid!. With your reaction, I'm sold on it for a primary. Also want to say thank you again for all you do. Oh, and if you come across one for a gaw, #Jessica. Dibs.
same as others i had to go to KSF which i love those people and buy me one of these. Chris hasn't steered me wrong yet so we will see if the streak continues!
GREAT REVIEW.....got one today.....sandstone burlap micarta/with red liners.....also have a COLONEL low Vz coming....fighting knife....check it out crazy good defense knife....
Last! After a year and some hunting, i finally got one. Er'mer'fherkin'gherd. Matches great with the new non-colab Tier-1 mini. It's all your fault and i blamed you to the spouse. Thanks!
More than 1/8 inch thick reduces functionality, in my opinion. I have some custom knives this thick and thicker. I never pick them up anymore because, yeah they baton.
@@zero-ol2nt yes we will be doing more Legions brother, I sent you an email response as well. The Wolverine will drop in Aug and the MKB-7 will hit end of April. v/r Erik of FOBOS Knives

PREPAREDMIND101 just ordered mine... as always love your reviews, Chris. You get that baby kydexed yet? Would love to see it if and when you do
I passed that off to Doug at Yellow Hawk because he wanted to do some stuff with it.
Have you seen the pre order for the 9 inch version of this ?
I love the maniacle laughter as it slides through the paracord like butter. Can't wait for mine to arrive.

I don't know what it is about a big hunk of pretty steel and a leather sheaf but damn I love it.
Got it about a month ago and absolutely love it...... I thought it might be too big for small work but it works great. Love the weight in the blade

I would love it in cpm 3v, how is it compared to the CUB? Which do you prefer.
Cub doesn't even rank vs the geometry on this blade brother not even close. The next run is in 3V too. v/r Erik Hansen
Yeah...this knife surprised me.
They killed it on the blade geimetry. It chops and slices which is pretty rare. Does both amazinglyvwell.

Is it possible to buy this knife today in 2020? Been looking around at various sites but no listing at all.
