The final boss for this game was insane I remember by 9 year old self SWEATING
I just randomly remembered this game. It needs a remake. I could even see a well-balanced multiplayer mode become the next big competition nintendo esport scene
that would make too much sense
@@OwnedEpicStyle yea but we all no nintendo doesn’t like having good sense and they certainly don’t like dedicated competitive communities. :D
20 years later and this looks just as good as I remember
Facts
Facts.👍🏿
IN my opinion the greatest game opening of all time
20+ years later and now we have Armored Core 6
Man I remember this game it was personally my favorite custom robo game. And even completed it too, even got the illegal/special parts and robos.
That little opening after the movie pumps you up even more ☺️
"CUSTOM ROBOOOOO" *Digital music*
i have ptsd from that wyrm gun
Imagine how AWESOME a Custom Robo anime would have been...
Big memories
I do genuinely cry every 5 or so years that this series died around this time. It had 2 predecessor games (not for GameCube I don't think) and one successor, about a year after this game. And then it was never heard from again.
I played this game a million times as a kid, and I've replayed it twice on an emulator over the years. I've never played the other games because (1) I didn't know about the predecessor games until about a year ago maybe, and (2) no childhood nostalgia with them. I want to play them though.
These games and the Zoids franchise, plus Digimon World 3 have to be my favorite childhood experiences. Its no wonder I became a mechanical engineer who now works in robotics lol. Sadly I work with industrial robots, nothing like these, but my dream is to build these kinds of robots. I don't care if they'd sell, id make them for the love of it.

Actually, if it doesn't have to move and just stands in place, that wouldn't be too hard to make, even with metal. Not that i could do it anytime soon, but yeah... I probably could.
Work with Hanson Robotics 😅
I would love to see someone make a version of custom robo where it's actually played in a small hologram arena kinda like wizard chess in Harry Potter
@@BrokenG-String So you mean like, first person custom robo?
@@accuset no custom robo but in real life as a hologram on a small arena the size of a chess board
What makes this opening even better is how this cutscene essentially teaches you how the game works. How different robos have different styles of jumping. How you shouldn’t be overly dependent on guns, how bombs and pods are just as effective and deadly when strategically used. defeating robos gets you new parts, using cover to dodge certain attacks. And the climax shows how Ray won by strategy instead of power, which the enemies were using. Also the cutscene never ages outside its 480p quality
They even made the Wyrm gun use two modes based on whether you're grounded/airborne.
Friggin sweet intro vid for the game. Hope nintendo remembers this series and goes after it again.
i played the shit out of this game when I was a kid
I remember when this game came out. Afterwards I would go on to play this game like it was my religion. I am sad that this series died. It should get a remake and have a cross-play and ranked feature. It would be cool to play against people from all over the world.
My only issue this intro was that the guns shown do not behave that way in game.
I had the Nintendo DS version of this game; and I remember thinking Ray 01's armor in the Gamecube version was awesome, and wishing that it was in the portable version as well so that I could use it on the go. My hunch was correct, and It turned out that Ray 01 was actually a hidden Robo in the game. (I cannot remember how to unlock him however..)
Literally only bought the game cause the EB games at the mall was playing this intro in front of the store in a huge TV
LOL I generally bought it for the same reason. Still worth it to me.
@@MoleBradRy yeah! It was fun as hell.
I remember getting it because the main robo looked like the RX-78 Gundam Suit and I thought that was badass
@@OwnedEpicStylethat's true that's what I loved about it
I wish we got this version of RAY 01
????
This was the starter model, except it has the trap gun (green) and the right and left guns are also not the standard ones. I forgot their names though. I think its the float pods, but the guns I absolutely don't know anymore...
Yes, several years ago I went back, played this, and remade the build from the intro.
Such a great game 😎
There is a second opening that is exclusive to the original Japanese version that gives out part of the plot for the game
Can you send me the link? That sounds pretty cool.

@@ZeromaruAgito Oh that one, I seen bits of the video, I always ignored it because I thought it was fake at first.
Actually, the English release has this one if you stay on the opening screen for a bit.
What parts of the plot did the second opening give out?
Here In 2022...My Childhood Is Gone😭
I still believe that this would have been a sick anime
One of the greatest mecha game ever came out on gamecube a truly classic

Why are so many of us randomly remembering this game right now?😂
i used to play the fuck out of this game back in 2000-whatever lol
