His oath is to serve the watch til he dies! He died! He is a free agent now! 😊
"Can he do that?" Jon Snow died for the Night's Watch so per his oath he's free to go.
I guess you could argue it also says "for this night and all the nights to come".
Exactamente
@timmokoo5679 if the nights watch had attorneys sure but Sam ain't there to argue semantics
@timmokoo5679 i watch a lot of lawyers on TikTok so trust me, I know what I'm talking about, lol. "Now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death" expresses a strict contractual expiration date. According to Google "A contract expiration date defines the end of the duration of a given contract. In other words, it’s the final day that the contract is in effect. Once that date has passed, the contract is null and any associated rights and contractual obligations end". Case closed, no oaths broken
@@DomCoreLeon sam is still part of the watch many night watch members can go to kings landing to get recruits and stuff
The guy who saved Ned during that battle in the flashback was Jogen and Mira's father.
John died. His watch is over. Now he's free to do other things
The umbers are our bannermen, bran said.
They will protect us, bran said. 😂
I've been so hyped for this episode since the last one shout out notification squad
The people he hung were not just mutineers, they were his lieutenants: from left to right it was the First Steward (Bowen Marsh), First Builder (Yarwick), First Ranger (Thorne) and his own personal steward (Olly). I’m thinking Edd and the Wildlings killed any of the other traitors but left the leads for proper trial.
Season 4 episode 4 was Oathkeeper
Ser Arthur Dawyne was the top dog back then. Ned "lied" to protect Arthur`s honor. Instead of getting back stabbed he died in a honorable fight. Ned even send Arthur's special family sword back as a token of respect. And please check out the deleted scene with pycelle and tywin. It explains so much and its sad they cut it.
Ser Arthur Dayne the goat
Imagine feeling so threatened by someone that you organize a murder that works...
And that same homie pulls up on the next day cause god chose them. What do you do 😂
You know, we here watching you watch the show for your 1st time -- we can't even remember what we forgot when it was our 1st time.
Don't feel like you have to edit anything out. When you're on you 15,265th re-watch, like us, then you'd have a reason to be embarrassed.
Until then, you'll probably still get called out for sh!t no matter what, because this is the Game of Thrones online support group, and we're never going to recover.
The Umbers would never swear fealty to the Boltons, the only reason Crowfood Umber and Whoresbane Umber don't tear out Roose Bolton's neck is that the Freys hold Greatjon Umber as a captive.
That’s in the books. Smalljon Umber said his dad died at the red wedding and he would have killed him if he didn’t. It’s horrible writing by the show writers compared to the books. It’s mentioned over and over in the show that the Northerners are more loyal and honorable, yet the producers just decide to throw it out the window like it didn’t matter.
Like the folks are saying. Jon's watch ended, his oath given that he was technically "killed". Guess whoever wrote the oath had no stipulations for revived watchmen. Good reactions amigos. Carry on and SEVEN Blessings!
Peace out Olly, ya little turd 🥳
second it
Put it on a SPIKE!
Yup. Not even mad at Jon, Olly picked his side and stood on it so did Jon.
Ollie was a kid whose parents and everyone he knew were killed by the Wildlings. They even told him they were going to eat his mother. I don't blame him for what he did. I probably would have done the same. And then I would have eaten Jon too. Just a little but enough to make my point.
@@pom11pom lol just a few bites of his leg, don't wanna spoil your dinner
Devin, do you remember the south park episode where clyde's mom has a little "bathroom accident" and they involve a certain ghost who then shows us how to really use a toilet??
I'm not kidding, the actor of jon snow, kit harrington is the descendant of the very ghost from this episode!!
Sir John Harrington -- why it's called the "john".
He should be able to give up the lord commander title. He died and that life died with the watch. His new life was not pledged to the wall.
“If not, we’ll take it out” took ME out 😂
When people drink from the well, they die. But if you are truly no one, then death has no meaning because you just assume the role of others. Thats why Arya didnt die.
Ned technically killed Arthur Dayne with that last slash of his sword. He never fully disclosed that Howland Reed stabbed him in the back in order to preserve his friend's honor. So he still did the honorable thing.
Imagine if the wildlings hadn't come in time to save the last of Jon's friends.
I think Olly, Ser Alliser and the others would be so shocked to see them return to life as part of a White Walker army of the dead.
I wonder if they'd feel guilty after realising Jon's warning wasn't a lie.
Regarding Neds' confrontation with Ser Arthur Dane,
I don't think Ned lied per se. I think Jojen's dad Howland (the guy who stabbed Dane the way Ned would get stabbed years later) started the rumors and Ned never bothered making the correction.
Bran may have heard the story a thousand times, but definitely not from Ned.
Peeks into the past are in small clips all season 6. We argued if Bran really could influence the past. (And if there could be new memories or events.) It helps to know names of everyone at Tower of Joy. Yeah, if you stay too long, you are spoiled too soon.
17:43 "You wanna lead someday boy? Learn how to follow" Lord Commander Jeor Mormont, RIP. Nobody else had him to get some goddamn sense into their hard Stark heads lmao. Mormont was like a second father to Jon, taught him so much. Jon looked up to him. Eventually even listened to him lol
(Both got killed by their own men, too)
Great reaction, fellas.🤙
Let’s get itttt!
No Ned never lied about the fight with the Kingsguards. Ned just never spoke about it. He just let everyone else run their mouths, and the story was embellished over the years.
The Nights Watch serve until their death, Jon died so, technically, he's done.
"I miss the old Jon Snow, straight from the go Jon Snow. I hate the new Jon Snow, the bad mood Jon Snow, hang 4 dudes Jon Snow."
-somebody 2016
he doesn't think he is the dog he's nick name is sword of the morning the best swordsman ever
Wielding the most magical sword
I enjoyed!
I’ve counted the stabs before. Jon got stabbed 5 times, so the hanging was short one person.
sad story. but maybe Snow did not remember all 5 of them. lol.
Ong I can’t wait for your reaction on the next episode
He left because he died, so technically he can leave. His oath is over
This is just my opinion, but I think Jon didn't see anything because he was meant to come back.
Jon served til he died, but I would think that the Northerners who don't know he died would treat him like a deserter.
Technically Jon died so his watch did end, now he's not unalived anymore I think he served his duty.
how bad do we think the mountain smells?
@@SoTOreo like a bus station bathroom that hasn't had a flush in 6 months
🌸 Jon is gonna lay around watching The Flintstones
37:58 i’ve seen this scene a thousand times, but it suddenly just clicked for me how good of a response “which name would you like a girl to speak” is. the waif is trying to get arya to admit that she wants to kill her. arya asks which name she’s looking for, but the waif is no one, so she can’t respond. am i reaching?
Agree. And I think that's important when we get to episodes 7-8. Will say no more; no spoilers, but think about it.
That and it’s also Arya locking into the whole “No One” persona. The Waif is asking about her personal desire to kill someone. “No one” isn’t supposed to have any personal desires.
always good discussion in your vids - do you guys remember the OTHER lie that Ned told (in the first season)? You think his life is such a precious thing to him? Would he trade his honor for something? For what?
Who’s John 🤣
Was a little disappointed that Jon Snow came back. I hated seeing my favorite characters get whacked, but I respected the show for disappointing me time and time again.
Dany climbs into a funeral pyre on her own and comes out with 3 previously extinct dragons, then conquers like 1/4 of the world as a teenager.
Jon is brought back from the dead by the powers of some other witch woman, and everyone thinks he is the chosen one 🤦
What a stupid take. Both survived death/came back from the dead. She didn’t conquer 1/4 of the world AT ALL, she only conquered 3 out of more than 30 cities in Essos. Not very successfully at that since she faced revolts in all of them. 🤡 l SPOILERS: Jon is the one who united the realm against the Dark. He is the one who made it his mission to recruite everyone, including Daenerys. He’s the prince that was promised. Next.
@@a.j.1819 She came back to life, and brought dragons back to the world because of magic SHE worked herself. Jon was BROUGHT back to life by someone else, through no effort or skill or ability of his.
SPOILERS she subdues those rebellions, and conquers Westeros as well. That's at least 1/4 of their world.
And Jon doesn't unite the realms lol. He unites a hundred or so nights watch (and not very successfully, since they literally mutiny and kill him), and some wildlings. Then he usurps Sansa's place for like a couple months, before immediately kneeling to the Princess Who Was Promised, and losing the north it's hard won independence.
@@a.j.1819There there. It's okay. You're okay.
I always forget about Pycelle’s little toot lol
The Oath implies that death is the only thing that releases you from your duty of the Night's Watch. John technically died so he's free.
That scene with the orphans is basically confirming that Varys' birds are orphans and that's how he knows EVERYTHING. so many orphans
So many orphans. Damn the city really needed help :(
I started watching yall since your reaction to season 1, episode 1 😅 This is the first time ive had to wait for an episode and damn it was a long one ❤
Are you on Patreon with us all? We got this a few days ago.
Dogs and Frogs rally up!!
I love how multi-layered these episode titles are. Oathbreaker. There are so many options here.
- Sam is an oathbreaker for returning to his home when he was exiled to the wall from it, putting love above duty here and in fact even fathering children which goes against his vows completely.
- Alliser Thorne and the other guys on the wall having to die for the oath they broke to kill the Wall's Commander.
- Lord Umber breaking his oath to the Starks by directly supporting the Boltons and giving Rickon Stark as a gift to the despicable Ramsey.
- Vala also an oathbreaker in a way, to her people and the wise Masters etc, choosing the best option that Varys provides, once again choosing love for her son and survival over honour.
Technically not oathbreakers since they are not "knights" but Ned and his good friend Howland Reed taking out Sir Arthur Dayne like that, sucks and is literally the opposite of honorable. But it is what it is.
Jon Snow breaking his oath to leave is in fact not really an oathbreaker deal. He only promised his life to the night's watch. He did give his life for it, so his oath is fulfilled and he is free to go. He is the only one out of all the options that is really not an oathbreaker. He did his part. And now his watch is ended.
Love the themes!
Jon entering free agency, his rookie contract was up the moment he died
Jon died. His oaths were fulfilled. He doesn't have to stay at the wall.
I think he was dead for a day
Dead for two days; risen on the third. Symbolism.
Once he died his oath was served.
❤❤ my boys LFG! Thank yall for the quick episode reac. Talk about 😂
His watch ended when he died. So as of now he is released from the oath and free to leave🤷🏾♀️
Love watching GoT with you dudes man. Keep up the great Work💪💪💪💪💪
I think one or two of the dudes who also stabbed John were killed upon the arrival of the wildlings back at the wall, or at least that’s my guess.
Ned never told Bran or any of his kids what happened at the Tower of Joy, and he definitely never told them that he beat Ser Arthur Dayne. The stories Bran heard is from other people, which is likely them speculating about what happened.
The only things Ned has ever said was that he and six of his companions encountered three Kingsguard there, with only him and Howland Reed surviving the battle. Ser Arthur Dayne was the greatest swordsman he’s ever seen. And that if it wasn’t for Howland Reed, he would have died in the fight.
Ned had never claimed to have beaten or bested Ser Arthur Dayne in a duel.
Jon was resurrected the next night. They offed him at night time, Davos found him that same night. Then the night's watch has the meeting in the morning, and Edd goes to get the wildlings while that's going on. Then at night, the wildlings take castle black and right after that is when Davos asks Melisandre to help Jon. But still, 24 hours of being gone is crazy lol. When Thorys did it to Berric in season 3, it was right away.
Jon was murdered, so "technically" his watch has ended. But.....
SodoSopa: Welcome Home, Rickon! 😂😂😂😂
It’s interesting cuz the power is there, Tommin only needs to reach out and take it….he’s not like his brother
enjoy jon snow this season because you won't find the real jon in the next 2 seasons
🔥 reaction. Got you a new sub cus this ish getting good!
There were more Night’s Watchmen who stabbed Jon but they might have died when the Wildling’s came in and fought some of them.
The oath-breakers were the four Jon killed at the end.
John Snow like peace out, im out this ish!!
technically he died so he was relieved of the oath 🤣🤣
I know people have said it, that "Jon died, so his watch has ended" but *technically* the oath was "from this day, until my last day" - and seeing as Jon came back from the dead...he had not had his last day. So again... *technically* he broke his oath.
Nah him dying counts as his last day. The oath is clearly for normal people who don’t come back from the dead. That’s a whole new life start. Trying to apply it to someone chosen by a God to resurrect is silly.
@@a.j.1819 But he wasn't the only person chosen to come back, he wasn't actually special in that regard (even Varys heard the "voice of god"). He is still alive, therfore he has not had his "last day" you can twist it however you wish but it's just romanticising the situation. Jon broke his oath...even his brother couldn't forgive that.
It's "Jon". He's not cool enough to have an H.
_Pieces get chipped off_
17:33 44:53 😂
Thank you!
Hmm. As many times as I've seen this, it just dawned on me that Bran may have just influenced the future, when he called out to Ned. I'll leave that there there for now.
Do you mean in regards to him wanting to save his children? Very interesting thought
@@a.j.1819 something more related to what Ned is about to do. I'd love to discuss it, but I don't want to be a spoiler, like a lot of people in these reaction chats.
45:50 just wanna point out their necks didn’t snap. they wouldn’t have been dancing around like that if they did. this method of hanging is called a short drop and is brutal and can last minutes, sometimes upward of 15.
