  • Hi folks welcome to the day's video, today I am making mincemeat pies this recipe is very old from before 1940's, In the video I showed you how to make up the pastry, then I have links to making the mincemeat if you want it, at the end we have the finished mincemeat pies, this is a very easy recipe to follow check out the description for a recipe enjoy Laters 😀

    Makes 12
    Recipe Ingredients:
    white Flour plan 400 grams
    water 50 grams
    castor sugar 100 grams
    butter or marg 100 grams
    white shorting 100 grams
    sweet mincemeat about 600 grams
    Method:
    Preheat the oven to 380 F - 400 f / fan 190 - 210 C
    Sieve flour into a bowl, Add the fat into the flour & work the fat into the flour to make a nice fine crumb, make a well in the middle & add in the water & sugar mixture, mix lightly into a pastry, not a bread dough finish on the table, shape into a ball, roll out with rolling pin to about 3 - 4 mm, Using a knife under the pastry to remove from table, you are ready to cut out the bases 750 mm cutter, best to use Yorkshire pudding tray, Spray your tray with some oil, and now pop in the pastry part fill up with homemade or bought sweet mincemeat, and then roll out the pastry for the lids & cut out with a 650 mm cutter Now ready for baking
    Now bake at 380 - 400 f or fan 200 - 210 c for about 15 -20 min, golden brown

    Nice one Steveo. Still to do mine - A mince pie is for life, not just Christmas!!! LOL

      Thanks mate 👍 I am watching day by day 😀 going back to puff top, my base bakes faster than puff 😀 I have see shells I do a test, as I am currently waiting for 3 delivery's and if I start filming 🎥 the bell ago 😀 it's a delivery 😀 and all stops ✋ so test day today 😀 laters Steve

      you can just use all butter or marg, or both, the white shorting keeps the pastry more shorter when you eat it, ok butter makes them taste like eating short bread 😀
