Finally.. something that doesn’t have to mess with food processors, folding, cold butter, and water to put people in a tizzy. I’m saved!! Thank you 🙏

Seriously, I’ve been in the same predicament in making pie crusts as others. My crusts always shrunk no matter how much I weighed them down and poked the heck out of them. I thought that the butter and cold water was the trick to good pie crust, so I just kept trying that-wasting a lot of expensive butter and the time that it took to refrigerate the dough, etc. I absolutely love this recipe. I just made it for the very first time, and it turned out perfect. No shrinkage at all. It looks as good as it did before I put it in to bake. I can’t believe it. Thank you so much for your tutorial. You have saved my sanity. I’d attach a picture if it were possible. Beautiful!

So glad to read this crust does not shrink! I absolutely hate making pie crust for this reason. However I’m going to give this one a go. I love his no muss approach. All that “the water must be freezing cold business “. Who knows, I may love making pies after all! 🤗

This was how my mom made hers as well. She used Fluffo shortening and her crust literally melted in the mouth. I have tried all the fancy chef crusts but am going back to this simpler, faster and foolproof methods. Those chefs might have the fancy degrees, but my mom had “the touch”!

Been looking at others who say their pie crust is the best and "easy" and easy it's not. They make such a long song and dance about butter, using ice cold water, frigerate the dough, letting it rest. By the time I make the crust I need a rest. They make it so complicated! You do not! THANK YOU FOR BRINGING IT DOWN TO EARTH!!!

Finally a pie crust recipe like the way my mom makes it. I used to get myself so stressed out because I just couldn't make pie crust, and my mom came over and said why are you so worried about cold butter and ice water and I showed her all the different recipes i printed off the computer and I said you have to do it this way. My mom laughed and said watch me, she made a pie crust in 5 minutes, just like this recipe! No more ice water and cold butter and most of all no more stress for me lol

How fun. I've been gluten-free for two thirds of my life now due to food allergies, and I am craving pie. I wasn't satisfied with any of the other recipe videos I'd seen, but fortunately (I hope!) I clicked on yours just to reminisce, and it turns out that you use the exact same recipe and process as my grandmother. I'd totally forgotten the ratios because it has been so many years since I last made it. I'm going to give it a try now with cassava and sorghum flour! 🤞 Thanks!

It is amazing how simple it is to make pie crusts. I use to use shortening and have switched over to lard. The lard gives it a bit of a salty taste. I try not to tell my company they are eating lard, unless the are vegetarians of one sort or the other. Don't see where it will hurt you too much as long as you don't eat pie every day. This is the way my grand parents did it, and they lived well into their 80's and 90's. Great video. God Bless and take care.

It took me a few tries to get it right because I was making it too dry and it was splitting apart on me. By adding a little more water, I got the right consistency and the dough held together beautifully. Next I'll work on making the edge look nice but at least I have a great crust recipe to start with! Thanks again.

The classic original pie crust resurrected!
I remember my grandmother making this. After the crust was in the dish, she'd gather the scraps, press them into a ball, roll it out, slather a bit of butter over the circle, and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Then she'd roll it up, slice into 3/4" rounds, place them on a piece of tinfoil, and pop them in the oven with the baking pie shell. Yum!

Oh you are so wise, I never thought about using the rolling pin to bring the dough up and into the pan. Thanks, I always mess this part up getting it off the board and onto the pan and then the edge.

Man! Thank you. You are so right about using butter. I used butter and refrigerated my dough and my crust came out looking like I never had the oven on. I used those pie weights and now I'm like, Aw man! they got me. What a waste of $. I'm trying your recipe tomorrow. Thanks again Crouton Crackerjacks.
