    Word of caution: These fenders do NOT protect your feet or your back. I own one of these bikes and have modified both fenders to get reasonable protection. It's a great bike, but Tenways should absolutely extend the fenders or sell add-ons..

      How's the hill climbing ability? How does it compare to a geared acoustic bike?

    Great review!
    You say that Tenways told you that the new model will have a 350W motor.
    Their site still mentions 250W for the CG0800S.
    Any idea of when there will be a new model with the 350 W model?

    • @LimitedWard
      @LimitedWard 9 місяців тому

      They didn't mention it explicitly, but the 350W motor is only for North America. The European model sticks with 250W.

    I ride a heavy-duty, fat-tire e-bike (looks like a motorcycle), but I really like the sleekness and quality of the Tenways CG0800S that you reviewed here. It looks like a bike that would cost at least twice as much - in the class with the upper end brands. Love the hidden wiring, lighter weight, and simplicity of design. You guys did a stellar job of reviewing the bike! I love the attention to detail and humor that you mix in with the review. Thank you so much!

    I can't find any info on this 350w motor upgrade for the 800s you mention in video. Can you please confirm this as correspondence with Tenways via emails have not confirm this. I doubt your source would provide conflicting information on a bike they wanted you to review? Perhaps you can shed some light on this? Frustrating as I want to purchase the bike but want some clarification first. Thx for any help and Tremendous review!!

    I was sold on this bike until you said it has no throttle. My wife’s hip occasionally locks up with the pedaling motion. If that happens, a throttle will let her get home without needing her hip. I really do like the looks of this bike. Good review!

      A throttled bike might also illegal in many countries or considered a moped that cannot ride on bike lanes.

      Welcome to 99% of ebikes especially outside of the US. If you ask a lot of people in EU countries they won't even know that ebike throttles exist.

      Look at the international version of the ADO Air 28. Near identical specs but comes with a throttle.

    Actually you'd be surprised how many casual riders don't know how to use the gears on their bikes. My sister's bike has 24 speeds and she leaves it on the biggest chain ring and smallest sprocket. We went for a bike ride and she was really struggling to keep up on the slightest of inclines. I asked her why she selected that gear combination and she said it was the easiest.😊

    I really think,you should always review the saddle on a bike. I know they can be replaced but it would be nice to know how good the one supplied it. This does not look like a commuter saddle

    Eventually you want to change to agura brakes and hookworm tires. So it's important to know if it's upgradable

    Just keep to paved roads and smooth pathways as there is no stabilising crossbar. Match the tool to the job :)

    I have a comment about whether the absence of gears is a negative. The motor takes the place of gearing. Let's fact it, the primary use of gears is to keep the pedal cadence the same no matter the terrain. The price of using gears to keep the pedal cadence constant, is the bike speed is continuously varying. The advantage of using the motor to keep the pedal cadence the same is the speed of the bike is maintained "regardless" of terrain. Of course, the power of this motor is not infinite, so the manufacturer states that this bike is best for mild hills. With that in mind, I think the benefits of losing a greasy chain by eliminating the gears will be worth it to most folks. The company does have a belt-drive bike with a geared hub (AGO-T), which would be best for truly hilly areas, but the disadvantage is the weight goes up by almost 50%. Fo me, I took your advice and ordered the CGO800S over the AGO-T, because weight was an issue for me (I'm older and wanted to be able to throw the bike in the back of my Model Y to take it to great locations for outings). It's January in the Northeast right now, so I will let you know if I was right about the single-gear vs multi-geared tradeoff next summer...

    Like a lot of things about this bike, but I really wish it had gearing of some kind. Then it would be perfect!

      It would way more efficient. Battery basically replaces gains from gears :D Why tho, you can have both..

    This looks like a great e-bike. One question I have is there are no bike shops where I live that carry the Tenways brand. Should that be a showstopper? I assume bike shops could still service the bike in a generic way, but I'd love to be able to try one out before purchasing.

  • @luizcarlosdecastrovasconce2411

    I'm seriously thinking of buying this bike. Living in the Netherlands, where there's no uphill ways, I think that an e-bike with one gear is adequate for my rides.

      I visited the Netherlands few weeks ago and there are already some stores that have these bikes and I tested it there. It was really fun!
      I live in south Germany and here are no stores that sell Tenways (but also hills that might be a problem 😅)

    I don’t have a bike but I am interested in getting one. I don’t have any history with cycling, what e-bike is better for a beginner and would a fat tyre be safer. My husband suggested a trike but after you reviewed one recently I don’t think that’s for me.

    I am considering this ebike, but think it will be hard to travel on the train with it. My journey involves me having to go up and down one flight of stairs at both ends. I can’t visualise how you can do that! Thoughts

  • @SilverFireStoves
    @SilverFireStoves Рік тому +1

    If you have significant topography (hills) the bike is underpowered and inadequate on grades. There is no appreciable difference between levels 3 - 5 pedal assist on grades. Great flatlander bike, poor hill climber. Most folks buy likely e-bikes for the option of assistance on hills due to age, knee surgeries, etc... If you have hills, or prolonged grades you may require 750-watt motors sustained... The paltry 350- watt motor does not meet expectations on hills. That's why Tenways has a warning about grades with the C-GO 800S.

    I understand wanting a subdued look on your bike for aesthetic reasons but there's a reason why these bike companies are having their bikes painted in like green and bright orange and that's so you're more easily visible to motorists

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

    Why do I see Jesse riding on a sidewalk? It has walk in the name not sidebike : ) maybe rules are different in Massachusetts but sidewalks are for pedestrians. I’m half kidding I’m sure it was a bike path and not a normal sidewalk. That is a pet peeve of mine. Tired of going out for walks and nearly getting run over by teens on bikes on the sidewalk
