Now that's the sort of ebike I would buy. One that looks and behaves likes a real bike and is a quality unit. Thanks for sharing. I'll now go and investigate if they are available in Oz.
it's amazing, if you want a bike experience and not just a Go button to push..and it's so smooth
I'm also looking in Oz but they seem to be only available direct from Tenways AU, and they are out of stock in every colour and size. If the manufacturer themselves are out of stock it makes me suspect it's been discontinued or about to be superseded alread. Aventon Soltera.2 looks like the next best thing but it's ~2kg heavier and the cable management looks quite messy by comparison.
This seems to be one of the better ebikes you have tested. It looks great.
Bucyrus-Erie was a really quality mining equipment manufacturer from the late 1800's in Bucyrus, Ohio. They made the industries best equipment for a long time. My Dad started drilling water wells in Michigan on a Bucyrus Erie 20w cable tool rig. (Still have it and it can still pound pipe) love seeing that old heavy metal.
I've watched tons of vids on this bike and this is the only one that weighed the battery! highly appreciate that little detail!
I've got a Raleigh with a gates belt on it, over 5000 miles on it ! I would have gone through at least one chain already ! No lube and silent ! I'd buy a belt drive again for recreational use or commuting any time !
My Catrike Expedition now has electric motor assist with the torque sensor and you are right it really works well.
as a bicycle mechanic, i would recommend putting some grease on seatpost and especially pedal threads, because they are steel snd cranks are mostly aluminium so they seaze easily
I believe I've read somewhere the headlight level can be adjusted via screws hidden behind those black covers on the sides. Maybe ask Tenways' customer service?
I love seeing the urban/city scape on the channel.
It's still winter weather and snow here in Northern Wisconsin. 😢. Hopefully get my motorcycle out in a few weeks 🙏.
Thank you for the great review and entertaining channel.
I am surprised they didn't use the hub gear set.
I really enjoy these cycling videos. I've always loved to bicycle but age and arthritis have been getting in between me and my bike. I get some of the same feeling of biking when watching your videos. You do such a great job with the camera. Thanks.
I wish you could find out more about that old Bucyrus-Erie. That is a genuine museum worthy piece of equipment.
Hey chris the review videos are actually really entertaining, you really test those bikes out, do you get to keep them all?
Glad that you find the videos entertaining. And I usually sell them at some point on Facebook marketplace locally
@@NNKH2 ah I thought so , as you'd run out of room by some point haha
Chris, that dozer would be an interesting "will it start?". Matt from Diesel Creek would love to get that old dozer I'd bet. Like I've commented before, I know the Trenton/Morrisville area well being a NJ native, man you are crazy or brave to ride there of off Calhoun street.
Definitely love the color and that its not obvious when looking at it to tell if it just a non electric bike or not. I miss some of the small motor repairs there kinda cool to watch. Chris. I was looking in the merch store and was looking for stickers and a license plate, but none are on it... give guss a rub on the head and a good boy for us- he's a cool dog!!
thanks Chris great vid .i really enjoy the electric bike reviews .i wouldn't know most of these bikes were even out there if it wasn't for your channel...peace out
Hey you mentioned your concern about the belt drive for reliability. Actually, the belt drive is there because they are vastly more reliable than chains.
assist lvl 3 is for that takeoff at red lights or hills..1 is fine at speed most of the time, i love this bike
Once again another excellent review, I enjoy all your content as you consistently deliver quality videos.
Could you rate the e-bikes that you have reviewed? Like best budget bike, best overall bike, best bike for comfort, best bike for range?
I do like the look of that bike, I got a speciazlized crosstrail I've been thinking of putting a kit on
Chris, always love your e-bike reviews. Just a test ride suggestion since the weather is getting nice now. Take your bike in your truck and start your ride at the park and ride lot (Yardley)at the Pennsy side of the Scudders Fall bridge. The parking lot is well lit at night and has mobile security patrols and cameras all over the place. The lot connects to the tow path right at the bridge to go over the walkway to The Jersey side. ( u go right past the 1799 house that has 2 beautiful public restrooms). From the parking lot to Prattsville Mill( also nice public restrooms there)in Stockton is exactly 14 miles. I think your viewers would really like the ride along the scenic Delaware river, past Washington Crossing thru Lamberville and Stockton.
Hey, thanks for the suggestion yeah maybe I'll have to give that a go! Actually out recording another video today and taking the train up to North jersey. I generally prefer the urban environment if I have time to travel. But I agree the river is ultra scenic!
Thank you for all the uploads Chris....you and Jenn are putting out some great, informative content.....in your opinion...what is the best e bike out there...I am going to by one and value your opinion and recommendations...
Neil from Halfmoon Bay, BC, Canada🎉
I guess Jersey likes to shock their citizens into compliance 14:08
Looks a lot like my FLX babymaker bike. Mine will do 28 mph. Gotta take into consideration that you had the light on. FLX has the same belt, I've had no issues.
Belt drives are incredibly reliable. They are supposed to be good for 15,000 miles, and probably many more. You may want to replace it after 10 years or so just because it gets too old!
I have a belt drive on my single speed commuter bike and it requires much less attention than a chain and makes no noise whatsoever. I think this is the way to go. I’m buying one of these.
had to chuckle a little at "a chain is more reliable" than the belt drive but great review overall. FWIW, the belt will very likely outlast the battery and replacing it isn't that expensive; they go for about $50-$60. Replacing the belt also doesn't require any special tools unlike a chain(in a non-split frame) They are much harder to find in a local bike shop, so that is a real con, but your best bet is to just buy yourself an extra belt after a couple of years just to have a backup ahead of time).
Thanks for taking us along
Thorough and thoughtful. Hi-test viewing 😁 Thanks 👍
Fascinating video. Is there a chance you are a bit too critical of the belt drive? I would guess it's lighter than a chain and smoother?
Yeah I suppose I was a little hard on the belt drive. Many people left comments about how amazing and reliable the belt drives are. I just personally like vehicles that have parts that are cheap and easy to obtain. But yeah the belt drive is pretty nice on this thing! Zero maintenance
if its fair game take some of the small broken granite pieces. clean them up really good and they make great cheese tray displays...
Looks like a pretty awesome bike looks very very light
Looks like a very rare 1979 Ford Rancho in the back ground!
Something *I don't like* about this bike is the frame-integrated front-light: when you take a turn in pitch dark, the wheel turns but the light shines straight. Most of Decathlon bikes have the same issue back in E.U.
Yeah I agree. I prefer a light that turns or has a wider beam
Nice sleek bike, be nice if it does around 30mph.
Chris that dozer is a dragline make
Thanks Chris great video only leg powered bikes back in my day. This one is sweet God bless you brother!!✌️🇺🇲
Bet you could add a gear cluster and chain drive … cool bike!!!
The Estarli e28 with gears might be worth a try.
1 put the wheel into the fork
2 put in the quick release axle with the spring
Good stuff man! Thanks as always for your honest review.
If I can read it right, that tracked crawler looked to be a Bucyrus (bu-cy-rus) and it was a British company that exported round the world
Couldn't really make it out though
Yes that's what it said
@@NNKH2 Later Ruston Bucyrus, their main workshops were in Lincoln UK which is around 30 miles away from me
They used to produce walking draglines(Google that) 😂
We need that dozer on the channel
You will probably never have any service or breakdowns with the Gates belt drive. Smooth and quiet.
Hell with the bike..I want to see the Rachero!!
Great bike, even better review!
Thanks!
Nnkh i want to give you a old gmc pickup been sitting for 20 years it's from 1985
Another great episode criss🎉 wish u the best buddy!! 👍 &
Thanks! You too!
beautifull bike, great review!
How much for the bike new?
The battery is not UL approved. Any information on battery safety and fire hazard?
The belt drive is supposed to last for 30.000 km (a bit under 20k miles) and you should not be worried about it. I'd love to have one at some point myself as they are maintenance free, silent and they don't accumulate dirt like a lubed up chain would. Concerning the headlight level: Is there no way to adjust it? The specifications of the thing at 20 Lux are somewhat poor (my 100 Lux dynohub powered one is multitudes more powerful, specs-wise) and I wouldn't expect it to perform too great, but not being able to adjust it at all to your preference and use cases seems to be a big flaw.
What you do whit this bike you sell them are you test it and send it back to the Nederlands.
Love your channel.
Greeting from Belgium and my Georges.
What do you do with stuff you biuld
A good review, a nice bike, informative and entertaining as always. Have you ever been to look at the great transatlantic liner UNITED STATES, which I guess is docked not too far from your home?
Thanks for checking the video out. And yes I've been past it on my boat but never inside of it
Would programing in a smaller wheel give higher top speed?
Good question. I'm not sure I'll have to try
Programming in a smaller wheel diameter would increase the numerical speed indicated on the display but wouldn’t change the bike’s actual performance. It might make you falsely feel like you’re riding faster by seeing a higher mph. If you could swap rear wheels to a smaller wheel (which is easier said than done probably… or at least more costly than you might think), the bike would be a bit easier to pedal from a standing stop but you would hit your top pedaling pace sooner (at a lower speed) - ghost pedaling likely. Changing the belt drive sprocket or sprockets is another option to alter the range of pedaling efficiency, but what you “gain” in torque you lose in doable pedaling-pace at high speed - since it’s a single “speed” drive. To convert to a chain and sprocket drive train would require a compatible axle configuration (and possibly the frame geometry). Perhaps that’s doable, but likely not worth the effort to modify (just trade bikes). The belt drive is way more reliable than a chain… and the single speed means all the complexity of a multiple-speed transmission makes maintenance even easier. The belt drive is quieter by far. And the belt drive is cleaner than a chain… they are designed to operate without lube and tolerate mud, rain, snow… whatever. If a single speed bike without suspension works for you in your terrain, this bike will be a pleasure compared to heavier, noisier, cadence sensor e-bikes (torque sensors are great for control ability… but they’re even greater if the bike has a “throttle” too).
The bike was easy to assemble. It was a big hit as a gift.
That city looks so run down and old guess it aint what im used to out hdere in Arizona everything is so fresh and clean
Seems like a nice bike 🎉❤
$120 Gates drive belt! $1500 e-bike is a lot for 250 watt hub motor small battery and small range . For sure a flat road city e-bike.
Great assembly tips and bike review. Thanks. Like EVs, there is a massive BS factor between stated range and real life range. Your model has a manufacture spec: EU version: Up to 100 km (62 miles)
US version: Up to 85 km (53 miles). You got 27 miles from a fully charged battery, carrying just yourself. Hm ...
Thanks!Love all the shows
Thanks so much man!
Great video! Hello from the Netherlands
Hey Chris, how would I go about buying some NNKH stickers?
If you send me a self addressed pre stamped envelope to my PO box I'll send you some. No charge. PO box address is in the about section of my UA-cam channel page
Dude, that's a Nice bike!
Thanks, Chris…really enjoying all your videos on both channels!
Glad you like them! Thanks!
I Ike this one the best so far
Cool garage.
Have you thought about doing a befang kit? The one I got was pretty good, found out about the torque sensor afterwards and that is one thing I wish I had on mine, though this year I plan on tuning it a bit since this one is a 1kw downtuned to 750w
Yeah the kids are pretty awesome. I did the gasoline motor kit a while back and I really like that one. But I already have a purpose built e-bike so it wouldn't make sense to do a kit one. For me. But for anybody else, yeah definitely an awesome idea!
gates bike belt is superior. 3-5x last longer and no maintenance compared to any chain type
Excellent information
Nice looking bike
The pro has a 350W motor I’m sure.
When I spin my front wheel I hear contact. Loosening does screws and pumping a few times fixes the problem, but it always returns within 1 or two spins or bounces. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
will you ever get a SURRON?
Dude post a guitar video! I wanna se you play!
Hey Chris
Nice video. Do you get to keep the bicycles that you advertise?
Nnkh i want to buy the 1979 ford ranchero
nice review
Thanks!
How tall are you? I'm 1.78m / 5'10" and wonder if getting the medium is a better choice than large. I'm kind of in between sizes, and i can't really test drive the bike where I live.
The website does not show pricing for this model.
Hey bud with this bike you would only have to charge with wire as opposed to a removable battery that can be charged separately ?
As with this one, Most bikes you can charge with the battery in the bike or out of the bike.
Hi loved review
Would like to know what about driving without support is that possible and without motor resistance? And also when driving faster do you get motor resistance?
Regards John
Can anyone see my comment??
Yes
no
Maybe
Nnkh i wasn't Abel to shoot you a email but you can come get the old gmc pickup been sitting for 20 years
Very little resistance on the pedals, or the bug sliding down your throat? Haha! 😅
Single speed???
What the heck! U aren’t allowed to ride on that bridge? That’s so stupid
Good Bike!!!
👍🏽👍🏽
😎
what diameter is the pipe of the saddle?
What up mah brother???
Chris ck out the video Electric Rail Bike -120 mile ride on u-tube
Brakes Hydraulic? or cable? You said hydraulic.
You had no negative comments except for rear light not being integrated. Really?
Yea
I want 1⃣
So all these Ebike reviews,...are they donated from the company?...what do you do after the review...why not have giveaways like other channels???
You can’t just say the price? We have to go look for your links to do that? This channel sucks!
They always change prices around. So what I say in the video might not be accurate. Easier to just go look and click the link to find out current price
@@NNKH2 no, you do it for two reasons: to make people watch a video about a product that is not in their budget and to get people to click on your links. All at the expense of a reasonable review. You are only interested in engagement data and nothing else.
@@AtomicB-zq2cw thanks for watching. Appreciate ya
@@NNKH2 hold on … that’ll be $39.95. I don’t consult for free. Just send over your cc#, ccv code and exp date and I’ll take care of the rest. Thank you and have a good day.
Fabulous review, always love the scenery when you're out and about. I rode a torque sensing e-bike with a chain and 9 speed cassette for about 5 years and it used to eat chains and cassettes like nobody's business!! I'd much rather have a belt drive on it. Keep up the good work! 👍
I'm buying this in the blue. This checked my boxes. Your video helps. Thanks.
That bike is super quiet! I might have to try one of those belt drives.
This seems like a real rider's ebike. Great color and a fantastic look.
Do you get to keep all this stuff they get you to test?
