Hi, I actually want a palm router to cut a humbucker route into a guitar body and I noticed that's what you used yours for. Can you tell me if it came with the correct bit for that job? Additionally, on Amazon this one now seems to be called the Anesty Palm Router. Thanks for your help.
Thank you so much for the succinct explanation without any thrills or frills. Good voice command and precise usage of meaningful words makes it such a pleasure to watch. Thanks again. Best of luck.
GREAT REVIEW Thanks , after two years I'll be buying a Palm Router, my current one is a bit too big and clumsy for guitar pickup cavity and truss rod routing.
I have been looking for someone that has reviewed a cost-effective router solution after hard-use because I have been looking for a budget friendly option to help me with DIY mouldings and cutting rabbets for picture frames whilst being mounted in a DIY table. This is going to be the choice for me I think. Definitely be getting a sub from me!
Hi I use a 1/4 inch straight cutter for truss rod channels and half inch bearing guided bits for cavities etc. Good router cutters can be exensive but the cheaper ones will still work, they just won't last as long.
This model might make a great extra unit in my shop, thanks for the review! If your luck is like mine, I’d buy a spare while they’re still available. I’ve been unable to find replacements for some of my favorite tools after they’ve stopped making them.
I recently got a Triton as my main big router but I use this one when ever I can as it's easier to set up so yes, a great second router. They do a kit with a plunge base and angled base, I've thought about getting one of those as they are not too expensive and then I'd have a spare.
Just ordered one of these based on your review. I have a router table with a 1/2" router underneath that I have just used to route my neck and body on my first guitar build. I didn't fancy using that huge router for the body cavities and neck pocket so this will be perfect at a much more manageable size.
Thanks for the video. I have just bought one of these based on reviews - and price. It's a great piece of kit! I have a larger Bosch router which is a bit unwieldy for most jobs I need to do. Only issue for me was that the dust outlet does not connect to my shop-vac; I think there may be an adapter missing. Still, very please so far and would definitely recommend it.
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams Yes, I really like the unit as well. I'm still trying to figure out how I will connect it to my shop-vac, but I'll get there!
Hi Joe, I had the same problem. You can use a piece of 40mm pvc pipe as an adapter. Cut a length of about 80mm and heat up the one end of the pvc with a heat gun or hairdryer. When its softened, force it over the dust outlet attachment of the router. When the pvc cools, you'll have a tight fit. You can then put a 40-50mm pvc pipe connector on the open end (if needed) that will connect quite nicely to a 50mm or 1/2" vacuum cleaner tube. I have standardized many of my tools' dust ports and some vacuum equipment to fit this same 50mm or 40mm configuration using pvc pipes and connectors and adaptors. If you want pics let me know, rgs Steve
I bought one of theses on your recommendation for last years GGBO (that I never entered) with a plunge base and an angle base for about £60. Still in the box with a continental plug I need to change and no bits for it. In fact I’ve still never used a router, but I’ve put it all together a few times and made loud whirring noises and pretended to cut off a finger once or twice. This year it’ll be used in anger! #GGBO22!
I want to get myself the plunge base but it's on very long list of tools I want. I'm happy for you to make all of the whirring noises but please leave it at pretending to cut off fingers!!! Have you seen the GGBO22 launch video? What did you think??
You sir are a great person yourself Edit: I've always circle around the idea of buying a router bit they're so expensive. Now I want to make something for my baby boy and the idea comes back but I see the incredible price gap and immediately think the worst
Thanks, this is the cheapest router I could find and it's worked well for three years now. Don't worry about buying affordable tools if they are not going to be used every day.
My main man is a bosch thing but I recently bought a palm router from aldi and so far it seems a sweet little machine. Didn't see your review first though or I might've bought that fella. Speed adjustment is cool and it looks like it has a better depth adjustment.
I don't really shop in Aldi but keep hearing about the great tools they have from time to time. Perhaps I should start. The depth adjustment is really good on this router.
I got the Bosch trim router. It's a great unit but the height adjuster is a pain. I keep seeing others with the flip latch. I think that makes a lot sense. I will definitely get one of these cause they are so cheap.
The latch is a really good method of adjustment, quick and easy but accurate at the same time, don't know if they are available in the States but I'd recommend one.
I use this in my cnc router and i must say that build quality for that price is insane. How they do so many aluminum parts, casting, milling etc and sell it for few bucks is out of my mind. In mine katsu, collet was totally crap and not straight at all, but i bought makita collet and all works great.
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams fun fact is that in poland i paid 10$ for makita collet, while whole katsu costed me like 15$. They even gave spare brushes for that price, Its ridiculous :D
Perfect review. No BS, clear and to-the-point. I bought this router partly because of your review and it's an absolute bargain. Thank you.
Upper league of content creators. Simple, to the point, good editing and no pointless fluff.
Finally a review that just cracks on. Not 10 minutes long, and tells you everything you need to know. 🎉

Simple no nonsense review. Thank you. I'm buying it right now 👍
I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while, thanks for the review, I'm off to order one!!
I'm sure you won't regret it, great kit for the money.

Thanks James, the Katsu is a great router for the money. Mine is still going strong nearly three years in now :)
Have you tried the tilt base whereby you can cut at an angle?
Hi Sir. What brand is this router ?? Besides Amazon which other website I can purchase from as I don have Amazon.
Ali express
Great help, love guitars also, playing them though. All the best
Can you tell me what bits (or cutters) you're using for a truss rod channel and for the cavities? I'd like to order good parts for my router. Thanks!

I agree especially when word gets out how cheap and reliable they can be 😂

Odd that the Katsu brand is unavailable in US. : ) and the Entertwist brand (supposed rebrand) is only 6 amps.
That's a shame, it's a great little router for the money.
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams yessir. It blows my mind how our capitalism works "across the pond".
Does this router use standard measure bits? It looks great for a first router. Thanks
Yes, it takes standard 1/4 inch cutters. Used mine last night, still going strong 👍
I got one of these last year for the GGBO, my only issue was my own ineptitude! Good to know it will stand the test of time
It really is a nice router, bit of practice should see you right :)
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams yup, I hear that! thankfully I have plenty of scrap wood

It looks a lot like the Makita cordless router. Is it compatible with Makita LXT batteries?
This one is corded, they do a cordless but I don't know what batteries they use. They are a pretty direct copy of the makita router.
