I bought one of these 2 years ago and ended up fitting it to a table, it works really well. Trouble was after a few weeks I missed having it for all the other jobs I used if for. I ended up buying a second one!! yes they are that good. The cost of two of them is still less than the price of one of the better known makes. I am happy!!!!
Hehe I think exactly the same. I was thinking of getting another one of them but I already got a Bosch and Guild plunge routers so I think 3 is enough 😁
Hi. Thank you for making your video..i just purchased a marry tool router which had a katsu tool instructions. Returning that and purchasing yours. Question I have. I am doing my door hinge any advise on the tool bit for the router. Thanks for your advice
Depends if you will make a jig for it or use a fence system. If so then a straight bit with a bearing so it will guide the bit on the jig or fence. If no jig or fence and you will just eyeball it then a normal straight bit.
I’ve had the same trim router for 4 years. I’m a jobbing joiner and it gets use every week and has never let me down. Yes, it has its limitations (you aren’t going to be routing worktops with this kit), but four putting a simple round over on, rebates, grooves etc it is THE best value tool I own. Buy it.
Had one of those Katsu routers for 3 years I got it with 3 bases as a set I also bought 3 metric collets for it in 6 8 and 10mm for my upcut spiral bits great piece of kit although it does get a bit hot
I've had one in my router table for a few years. Like you I've also got a bigger plunge router for the heavier jobs. I liked the Katsu that much that I recently bought another one to save me messing about with the router table. At that price, it's a no brainer.
I have this. I bought the 3 piece kit and later managed to pick up a returns basic unit cheap. Which makes t&g joints so easy. What you say about it is 100% spot on.
Don't worry I have 8mm bits and they don't fit any of the two chucks came with the machine hence I have ordered a 8mm holder. Sorry to have bothered you.

Hi, just check out my other videos. I use it quite often in my projects. I think it will fit and work as a CNC spindle motor just fine. Unfortunately I can't give you the dimensions as I'm currently moving between countries and the whole workshop is packed and in transit. Sorry

Bought the plunge base. Had to file a few places to get the Makita dust shroud to fit correctly that were errors in the casting. Works great. Have several 65mm routers and spare bases. Great little routers.
I've had my katsu for 2 years and it's still going strong. Yes makita will probably tell you it's a clone of there palm router but thats a good thing for us.. works fantastically well for £30 and ive never seen a power tool this good and well made for anywhere near this price..
@@CasualDIY Katsu also sell a newer model of there router or is it a makita?? Because if you look on amazon it's identical to the new makita.. How they get away with it is beyond me. Yes seen it. But before I buy a cordless router like that I need to try it. I think they may be top heavy because of the battery and harder more awkward to use. And when I do small patterns or difficult designs that's the last thing I need. But as I said I need to try one and see how it feels👍

After watching you review a few days ago I went to see if we could get the Katsu here in the states and could not find it but I did find an Ultimate force router by costway. Available here in Italy on Amazon for 59€ (basic kit) or 95€ (full kit). There's also a 18V battery version at 110€. Cheaper than the cheaper Makita 3709 model but not that much if you can find it at 70€ as I did last year. It seems that all the attachments from Katsu and Makita are exchangeable. Obviously, they pay different prices but I'm not so sure they ACTUALLY are different. I've just seen the Makita-branded plunge basis on Amazon: it is cheap but it's also quite "suspect", despite the Makita branding on it. E.g. it has the same "bolt" depth stops and in the purchasers' comments we can find the same kind of complaints (most common is the depth fine gauge moving because of vibrations.)
@@CasualDIY In this case, yes. But not necessarily true in every country. It also depends on local taxes (VAT is higher in Italy) and, above all, commercial situation. DIY market is much smaller here than in UK (maybe UK is the biggest DIY market outside USA), so volumes are smaller and thus - I suppose - costs/prices higher.
@@CasualDIY If you consider "substance", yes. But, as I learnt in my marketing studies, in modern times, prices mostly reflect marketing factors, and mostly how much the client is available to spend. With little - and sometimes even none - relation with the product's content. I always take the example of a certain city car, sold in Italy in red colour as "basic" and in white as an extra cost. In Germany, the same car was sold in white as "basic" and in red as an extra. Does it seem absurd? Well, it's just because Germans love vivid colours while white was a fashionable colour in Italy (where red is just for sports cars).
This is a 'no-name' Chinese product (surprise there, huh ?) branded under many different names, all with slightly different accessories. The Katsu brand WAS only available in Australia, but has been discontiued.
Katsu was and to my knowledge still is available in the UK. I bought mine on UK Amazon with normal arrival window of few days. For me it seemed a rip of from Makita trim router.

In seem that the mainland Europe got higher prices than here in the UK
@@CasualDIY In this case, yes. But not necessarily true in every country. It also depends on local taxes (VAT is higher in Italy) and, above all, commercial situation. DIY market is much smaller here than in UK (maybe UK is the biggest DIY market outside USA), so volumes are smaller and thus - I suppose - costs/prices higher.
Yes that could be true. But still a shame, the prices should be relatively the same in my opinion.

Brands, in Amazon USA, include Goplus, Volltek, Mohorn, Trimmer, Avtbeisty, Dobetter, and Avid. Only the Goplus and the Mophorn offered the advanced add-on bases. The Katsu brand WAS only available in Australia, but has been discontiued.
Katsu was and to my knowledge still is available in the UK. I bought mine on UK Amazon with normal arrival window of few days. For me it seemed a rip of from Makita trim router.
Hi..I bought the same tool in amazon.es... (Spain)
But is it a rip off of the Kakita? I think its the same machine and Mukita are ripping people off. Would one you youtubers do a breakdown comparison! Think I'll ask AVE to do one. 😕
Hehe can't afford the Makita one to do the comparison 🤣
Got mine this week £28 inc delivery! Not been able to try it yet but looks very sturdy....... Bargain!!
For that money you can't go wrong
Andy Smith Hi where did you buy yours from if you don't mind me asking
3/8 is bigger than 1/4, not smaller. Luckily no one uses imperial measurements any more....
Good morning young man, Ive had my Katsu about a year now and I think its a great bit of kit. I did send away for a clear base for it and would not be without it for carving letters. Thanks for another video stay safe...purchased for here. woodworkersworkshop.co.uk/collections/clearview-design
Thank you so much for watching. The clear base is a winner for free hand routing. So much easier to see
