testing the simple tri with a sunnysky X2208 1260kv motor.
    www.buddyrc.com/sunnysky-x2208...
these weigh 1/2 oz less each than the 2212 1400kv motors i use. also i used a 1300mah 3 cell pack saving another 4 oz. this setup will carry a gopro but not much else. you could get away with these motors on a simple T copter and a gopro 3 (lighter camera than the gopro1-2) i would go with this setup on more of a funfly tri. somthing to toss around or to learn on.

Good for you! j johns :) I had dreamed of flying R/C airplanes since I was a little boy but could never afford it and neither could my parents. I finally started flying R/C planes when I was about 35 and now at 43 I am trying to learn to fly multi-rotors and FPV! Its a great hobby and I have never been more excited about a hobby in my life than I am RC flying. I am also very enterested in RC boats. No matter how old we get, that little adventurous boy inside of us never goes away!

I like tricopters more than my teenage kids.....and quads. i like knowing where the front is. makes flying more enjoyable.

My vote is for quiet. Nice video and good control. The noise is created by the props. If you flew the same bird on 5x3 or 6x3 you would have to have a much higher rpm and to do that you would have to have a higher voltage. There's a lot to this and I've just brushed the surface.

Suppo outrunners are nice and affordable. Ive been flying them for the past couple months since i started building flying tricopters. Im running the suppo 2208 1450kv on my smaller tri on 3s 1300 packs and the auw is 24oz rtf. I like the lighter power set up for flying in the yard but the 2212 1400kv have a bit more weight and power to cope with really windy days. Currently designing a quad but have some of the hk 1200 ntm's to try in my green machine tricopter.

He all. Just a quick note about the Tricopter I built as per Matts information. Purchased the frame from him (no brainer) and in a short time I was doing loops and rolls and lots of other high speed stuff. Until ..Yep, you guessed it. I took it up high to get some great videos of my surrounding area and lost orientation. ( I am an idiot for not paint it bright colors). The result was an inverted, ass first dive into the neighbors drive way. GoPro 3 Black and all. Less than $50 damage. :)

Ok, that's sick. I built a tri using the RCtimer 1300kv motors you suggested. Durable little bastards. Replacement shafts only cost me 99c too. :). Thanks for the inspiration. Could you post a quick tutorial on configuring and performing a flip and a roll. I learned the hard way that objects held aloft soley by thrust accelerate SHOCKINGLY fast when powered upside down. I needed a dust broom to pick up all the pieces.

Great work, I enjoy your videos. I'm starting to get tighter flips like yours. I'm running stick scale at 90 and stick throw at 120 with expo at 40. I'm curious, do you have a custom throttle curve,or is it linear (default)?

Dont power it when it is upside down then?
Full throttle it then as you start to hit and hold hard left or right or forwards or backwards let off the throttle, then reapply the throtle as it comes round to level out and at the same time bring the directional stick back to centre, ready to make any adjustments.

If you want to fly (FP) Fixed-Pitch or (CP)Collective Pitch helis then sure you can go Nitro=gas but if you want to fly multi-rotors, Tri-copters, Quads etc there really is no other way than electric! Everything is going electric now, even R/C planes. I have a basement full of nitro-crap lol that I will box-up and sell to you but I wouldnt advise you to do it if you want to do stuff like in hallstudios vid! E-Brushless motors are unbelievably strong!

awesome videos! I just finished my tricopter. Any chance you can tell me how you setup the transmitter. I have a futaba 9c super with frsky module. I have it flying on a basic airplane model...no mixes or anything. It seems to fly well. Should I be doing deeper setup in the transmitter?

    Hi Hall,
I am looking forward on building my first tricopter, I have ordered 3 motor "SunnySky X2208 KV1260 II" but received instead (2) SunnySky X2208 KV1260 II and (1) SunnySky X2208 KV1500 II, do you think it will be a problem if I mix the the motors or should I insist on having them ship the correct one?

Is there a web-site to order quad parts inside the USA that you can actually expect to receive them in a reasonable time? I am freakin sick of waiting for months ordering from HobbyKing, HobbyCity, AliExpress etc? Hell they are all the same company anyway I think! Ive been waiting on my prop replacements for 5 weeks and my Turnigy 9XR radio for 8 weeks and its still not here! I am beginning to wonder if I have been totally SCREWED & if it will ever come! Is there a better way for us Americans??
