So my opinion on what you said regarding Doom Eternal and Doom 2016: Personally, I feel like both games ultimately are pretty different as you noticed. Doom 2016 was exactly what people who loved the OG games was; more of that but improved. It was a simple, fun time, and it is perfectly fine for that. Its got what we love, it does what we love, it does no bullshit, and it came out at the PERFECT time; 2016, the real starting point of where AAA videogaming (and the gaming scene in general) was, to put it lightly, catching some new freshly alit forest fires. 2016 was a breathe of fresh air for many and felt like new hope, and it delivered in spades even with some flaws here and there. Eternal is an interesting case because to me, when you have a game that gets the core essentials down so perfectly like 2016, how can you improve upon perfection? The answer? You....really can't? There was nothing much to add to 2016 at that point, hence why Eternal feels like a different game; it IS a different game. Sure, the core fundamentals of "move, shoot, rip and tear" is all there, but its been revamped into a new formula and a new idea in a different direction. And personally, I am completely fine with that. I think Eternal was one of the most unique FPS games of 2020 when it released, and still is a pretty unique game. Some people prefer 2016, some prefer Eternal. I love both.

I really wanted to love doom eternal but once I got to the super gore nest level I felt like the game had shown its whole hand. Again not a bad game. Tons of polished features, amazing soundtrack again but doom 2016 is just a bit more grunge and I kinda love that. Glad you enjoyed the video man 😁
