- May 27, 1967, the family of the late President - John F. Kennedy - gathered at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. for the christening of the Navy’s newest aircraft carrier named for John F. Kennedy. Robert McNamara arriving with Jackie Kennedy, Caroline and John Jr. Also present are Robert F. Kennedy, Astronaut John Glenn and President Lyndon B. Johnson.
This is so special. I admire the way that Mrs. Kennedy raised her children. They curtsied and bowed so politely. It was hear-warming to watch. What a fine job she did.
It reminds me of her quote about how, if you bungle raising your children, nothing else that you do much matters.

Two days later would be Mr. Kennedy’s 50th birthday
And JFK would be enter his 7th year in office in his second term. And he will be 51 year old in Jan 20,1969 when he leave office and Jackie would be 39 Caroline 11 John Jr 8 and they will be the first children to leave the White House not yet teenagers.

....okay Christabel...but they would have murdered ALL of JFK's children & grandchildren...so, in this case, we know WHY sold out to save their families...Jackie knew, after sometime, that they were out to get the rest of their children I..do not hold it against Caroline OR Teddy

Jacqueline Onassis left Caroline and John/ RIP about 70 million. Both her kids were born on easy street. I respect that both earned Law Degrees.

What impresses me about them, too, is that they were never seemingly addicted to any substance that would have derailed their lives, as happened to some of RFK’s offspring.

CV-67. Supercarrier John F. Kennedy. Last oil burner before CVN 68, USS Nimitz, our second nuclear powered aircraft carrier.
John Glenn was there.
There's not a military man alive that didn't feel for that little boy and remember his salute. This was the last supercarrier built before the Nimitz class. CV-67, in 1967. She was a modification of the Kitty Hawk class, but stood alone. I had heard that the skipper's quarters had a famous picture of John John on its wall and that it was adorned with ribbons or something when John John was killed in 1999 in his Piper.
Who is the little girl with Caroline?
Jupe367, She is Sydney Lawford, Caroline’s cousin and best friend. Sydney is the daughter of JFK’s sister, Patricia Kennedy Lawford, and actor Peter Lawford.
What an amazing spectacle of life.....glad it wasnt me who had to live it. The cost was way too high.

President Johnson spoke at the dedication of the late president Kennedy aircraft carrier even though the Kennedy family hated Johnson and Bobby had broken with him over Vietnam policy the warring families pretended cordial relations on this occasion
Yes . It was made clear in the Jackie tapes Caroline revealed to the world some years ago. She said JFK and particularly Bobby had said LBJ would make a bad president and they were correct

At Jack's funeral. Jackie was with two girls...
Rose saw LBJ cut out of there. Lady bird saw Jackie n kids guilt on her face and left and LBJ swoops in. JR hangs on to Jackie like he knows that man is evil.
Yes John didn't look at him. Jackie was tense. You can tell she didn't like that he was there. I think she knew he was behind the assassination of her husband
@@javiervalverde2374 The next year was Robert Kennedy’s funeral. After the funeral mass, LBJ attempted to talk to the Kennedy family. Robert Kennedy’s widow, Ethel, and Jackie both publicly “snubbed” him. In her memoirs, Lady Bird Johnson wrote about her dismay at Jackie’s behavior.
@@Kayte-tv2cw Yes that's true. I read an article that Lady Bird wrote about the experience at Robert Kennedy's funeral. She said that when she went to say hello to Jackie, she looked at her in anger and looked away. Lady Bird thought: " Am I suppose to feel guilty that I'm alive". Yeah that's what she should be thinking knowing her husband was part of the assassination. Jackie wanted her husband alive and he wasn't there. I'm glad Jackie showed her disdain against Lady Bird and Lyndon Johnson knowing that they were part of the assassination.
@@javiervalverde2374 Exactly. I don’t blame Jackie or Ethel at all. They were, and are, very strong women. It is clear that Jackie knew by then that LBJ was involved in her husband’s assassination. I was 16 when Robert Kennedy was assassinated. It was all over the news at the time that Ethel Kennedy, Robert Kennedy’s widow, had refused to let LBJ hug her after her husband’s funeral mass.
@@Kayte-tv2cw Of course! Wow! Never knew that it was all over the news that she refused to hug LBJ. I wasn't alive back then. I was born in the 70s. I had a feeling LBJ might be part of the assassination but I heard an interesting theory last week: that Richard Nixon was behind the assassination of Robert Kennedy. He knew that if RFK won, he would never become President. It makes it more plausible because I read Johnson supported RFK and did not want Nixon to win.

Wow, Jackie has a major hairdo! You can't get that kind of hold nowadays!! It took the CFC-laden hairspray of yesteryear to do that. Mrs. K. and millions of women like her had no idea what effect their fashion sense had on the ozone layer.
Lisa Brooks I was wondering about her hair. To get it that full and high, I would imagine it would take a combination of hairspray and teasing, right?
I think the hair spray connection to the ozone layer was disproved.
