- President Lyndon B. Johnson spoke at the Christening of the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. John F. Kennedy in Virginia.
'' In March 1943, almost a quarter of a century ago, a young naval lieutenant assumed his first command--a tiny PT boat--and sailed intrepidly into the savage battle for the Solomons.''
'' No President understood this Nation's historic role and purpose better than John F. Kennedy. No man knew more deeply the burdens of that role. And no man ever gave more.
Let this ship we christen in his name be a testament that his countrymen have not forgotten.
Thank you very much.''
The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) was then christened by Jacqueline Kennedy and her daughter Caroline.
Caroline Kennedy smashed a champagne bottle against the bow of the USS John F. Kennedy in honor of her father and late president at Newport News shipyards, Va. Assisting Caroline was Donald A. Holden, president of the shipyard company that built the aircraft carrier.
I remember this telecast. It was only a year later in 1968 that all hell broke out when Jackie Kennedy married Aristotle Onassis. You would have thought the world slipped off its axis. So many people were outraged at her. I understand now how she was seeking escape and solace, especially after RFK was assassinated. She feared for both her life and her children's lives.
And she was very greedy!
Lisa Brooks She needed Onassis for protection. She feared her children would be next in line for assesination.
@@isah6544 and she was right. They got John too. JFK named his killers -- secret societies occultists usurpers and Zionists. Satanists. Caroline is alive because she married an Israeli. They did 9 11, tried to sink the USS Liberty on June 8 1967, had Israeli agents at Standing Rock when the Native folk were defending their water, and they destroyed the middle class with fraudulent loans via Ameriquest owned by Israeli businessman Roland Arnall.
She wanted his money and protection. His bodyguards are better protectors than the secret service . Besides she wanted to save taxpayer money
she feared LBJ's homicidal reach after he had her husband murdered ..... he wanted to bed her so bad it hurt and she hated his psychotic guts !
Fast forward 30 years this would be my first duty station. Im so glad I was apart of the Kennedy crew. 1997-2001
