Hi have you solve the issue.. mine problem same as you, already solve. During update using usb try unplugged you controller after you press select and start button. Its because the system keep reading the usb for controller not pendrive.
I never found out the issue with this one, i did buy a new one. this one had been taken apart by a coworker and his son and it was a gamble i could get any other games to work with it but the hdd was possible bad from the time i got it.
Might actually be the brand of USB stick some Brands I have noticed it don't want to detect like if it might be a Chinese brand for example or something
I was hoping that you found a solution to this problem but seeing you haven’t responded in a long while I figured no. The only fix to this issue is to have it reflashed E3 . The ps3 has an internal RAM/ flash memory that never changes with each update unless you can flash it back to the original version from whence it was released. Fat models are 3.55 and slims go up and up.
Hey, i dont know if you know how to fix this error but i also keep getting "the system software cannot be run. Press the ps button to try to restart the system" after i swapped the og hdd on my ps3 slim with an hdd with more storage. Ive tried installing the latest software, factory resetting the ps3, rebuilding database (it says storage cannot be accessed), reset to default settings, restoring the file system but it doesnt work. I know its not an issue with my ps3 bc it works with the og hdd and i know its not an issue with the new hdd because it works on my superslim
