Thank you for mentioning that childbearing/pregnancy could be a possible factor. I offered up that theory to a doctor and was dismissed. I’ve had 3 sections myself. After each I got heavier and more fatigued. My oldest is 18 now and my youngest is 10. I’ve been told it’s “all in my head”, I’m “depressed” and need to lose weight to get better and have more energy. I’m in my late 40’s now and it’s a rare occurrence where my desire and initiative match my energy levels. I feel like part of my motherhood has been robbed due to ignorance.
This was me for the last 2 years. My iron was 29. I started taking an iron supplement called Blood Builder....by day 3, I felt so much better. I highly recommend it! A complete game changer. I also had my hormones tested and started Bio Identical hormones ( desicated thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone along with the iron supplement) as I started menopause 2 years ago. I went from having every symptom you mentioned to feeling 100% normal and fully energetic! I feel like I'm 25 again and belive me before I started these medications I had every symptom on here. Just putting it out there incase others are experiencing the same issues.
Anemia is a big issues which have been overlooked.Worst doctors don't listen to us .We know ourselves ,we wake up to ourselves everyday, they see us rarely.I thank you doctor and mine goes back forty years ,every test is perfect.I finally told my doctor to refer me for ferritin.
Most doctors are willfully ignorant and sometimes stupid af,if you have low iron,id advice you to eat beef meat and drink lemon water or orange freshes as you need vitamin C to absorb iron
Thank you for this video! I went to my doctor because I was having all the symptoms of iron deficiency but my hemoglobin and RBC counts were always fine. Then, I got really concerned when not only was I always exhausted and freezing cold and so forgetful I felt like a dementia patient, I started having heart palpitations and my heart was running at 120-160bpm 24/7! Then we tested my ferritin and it was 3μg/L. THREE! I had been in crisis-survival mode for half a year when I should have been thriving, had I known what to look for sooner.
I started suffering extreme exhaustion, shortness of breath, headache and chest pain. I thought it was anxiety and migraines so I ignored it for a while. It finally got so bad I went to the emergency room and it turns of my levels were extremely low they were at 6.7. I spent 2 days the weekend in the hospital getting blood transfusions. Please if you don’t feel well please don’t ignore the symptoms.
You’re welcome! Sadly, yes, so much unnecessary suffering. Our medical system is completely broken and in many way corrupt. Fortunately good information is out there and available but it can take some searching to find it.
Im 25 and im tired all the time, high heart rate, anxiety, blurry vision, loss of appetite for the past 2 months i just started taking iron supplements today and my hand and feet went numb for like and hour after there i finally started to relax ill keep taking supplements everyday for a few weeks
Thank you for making this video. I’ve had almost a year of horrible fatigue, lost probably 60% of my hair, and brain fog. I thought it was long covid but thought I would take a blood test for iron since I’m a vegetarian. My ferritin was 12. Now supplementing and hoping this gets better ❤
@@Skybluewindcool I had a little improvement with iron supplements but my doctor thinks I still have long Covid since I haven’t been able to smell anything for 23 months. I have had some dizziness yes
This is true. I've had my ferritin at 6 (sometimes even at 4) for the past year. I got a blood test every 2 months. I was given liquid iron for two months. Nothing happened. I was given then tablets, not cheap ones for three months and nothing happened. The GP made me waste a whole year when I was feeling too exhausted for words. Finally I made an appointment with a hematologist and when he saw my ferritin levels and iron in blood levels he freaked out. I also had other things very low, all related to iron. He ordered an iron infusion immediately for me. I got it about a month ago and I fell better. I had Ferinject. I discovered that I had been having low ferritin for the past 10 years. Thank God I had keps blood tests since 2010 and discovered the cause of it. It was since a got a gastric sleeve procedure done (not by-pass). After that my iron leves and ferritin started to go down to 17 or so for years, also because I take anti-acids every day to protect the stomach. It wasn't until last year it went down to 6 and sometimes 4,2. The hematologist said the levels should be 50 or 60 at least. So yes... I blame the GP doctor for not telling me to see an hematologist when he saw that after taking iron, nothing happened, I wasn't absorving it. Not only I felt exhausted, but irritable and I wasn't being myself at all. I read an article about: iron deficiency and depression and yes, I can say it is true.
I have very heavy menstrual periods. I have every symptom that you mentioned, but I'm losing weight instead of gaining. I have times (for years) where I feel so awful I can't get out of bed, brain fog, can't workout, work, chest pain, dizziness and nausea are huge, headache, extreme hair loss, and many more symptoms. I go into my doctor and they said you are slightly anemic but it's nothing to worry about, never even recommend a supplement and pass me off to other doctors. But they have never checked my other levels. I just got my labs back today: ferritin is 5 % saturation is 4 TIBC 440 Iron 19 I just can't believe it. I have been feeling extremely frustrated that they can't figure out what is wrong with me. Going into the doctor feeling like I am crazy and leaving defeated again. My husband feeling frustrated because I am tired all the time....but I have had something real all these years...it's the worst when you know something is wrong because it is your body and nobody believes you. Thank you for making this video.
@@tia7765 Yes the dizziness is a little anxiety provoking when it's happening all the time, sometimes it feels like for no reason. I scheduled an appointment with a hematologist and she was able to start me on iron infusion. I can't tell you how much of a difference that made, I still don't feel 100% especially after my cycle every month, but I feel so much better. It's crazy how much we have to advocate for ourselves at a doctor's office.
@@tia7765 yes, when I was at my worst my vision was blurred and my brain fog was terrible. I was reading it because your body is fighting for oxygen and your retina (back of eye) and brain are not getting enough.

Changing my diet helped too. Like dark green vegetables, certain beans like lentil and blends of beets juice or kale along with iron and vitamins supplement made me feel better and showed improvement in my blood count.
I am a 58 year old guy and I had alot of these symptoms. My CBC results were fine but luckily I went for a self funded vitamin mineral test and it showed ferritin at 25. I am now up to 49 and have some more energy but still have a ways to go.
I’m glad you said that .My ferritin is 74 and I feel awful he told me I shouldn’t feel as bad as I do but I get so weak sometimes! My anxiety is terrible I need relief.
Do you see a hematologist? I do and will soon start infusions even though most doctors would view my labs as normal. My ferritin is 72 and I am always tired and starving! This is the first video or any internet information that validates my many symptoms.
@@norakaszuba no they never referred me to a hematologist this was the first I knew of having low iron but yeah well these regular doctors are quick to tell your your fine but a specialist in the area would think differently ! I see a functional medicine doctor now and I will see a hematologist soon . Just got two infusions feeling better but body still aches.
@@Unmutedemotions Glad you were infused….it takes about a month for the body to absorb the iron, all the ligaments and muscles, so do not despair as you will continue to improve. I am happy for you! 🙌🏻
That’s so low! I hope you’re able to start infusion therapy soon! Many find they feel good for a while after the infusion but start to feel drained again. It helps to get on a good iron supplement. My preference is liver. It will help maintain and even improve your ferritin levels between infusions. Plus it has a lot of important and bioavailable nutrients.
i feel this so much. i have struggled so much since i had the flu the week of thanksgiving last year, turned into pneumonia (and forcing myself to keep working through it once i was no longer contagious). it has been a major struggle since then. yesterday the worst battle was the shortness of breath. it was so bad i almost had a panic attack. i had to go hide in our office at work for a while. a couple days ago i had some blood work done. my ferrintin level was 7. so i guess that explains a lot. hopefully things will start to improve now that i have started taking iron, because i am sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. please excuse me. end rant
I have Haemochromatosis and have been over bled, my ferritin is only 22, they say it's within range but I know things are not right. I also have to take proton pump inhibitors for stomach, I am working on getting my ferritin up a bit, obviously with my condition I need to watch my iron levels, but my body needs my ferritin up to a sensible level. Thanks for making this video. Ferritin is so important.
My ferritin was an 8. I was put on iron pills that were prescribed to not cause stomach issues. Eventually they got discontinued and my doctor wanted me to use otc ones instead. They were not as stomach friendly. I stopped cold turkey. The last time I had my iron checked it was 30, right on the button. This was after taking the prescription iron pills for nearly 7 or 8 years. My doctor said I was fine because I was technically in range. That was a few years ago at least. I have every symptom you listed, plus I have a severe vitamin D deficiency, scoliosis, MS and chronic pain. Every time I stand up, it’s like my spirit/soul is trying to relocate to another dimension and escape my body.
I just discovered my low ferritin levels. I had never checked them before, but was curious after a hemorrhage almost a year ago. They had put me on a supplement after I ended up a bit anemic. After looking through my records, I learned that I was even more anemic after each of mg babies was born, but no one told me anything and I never did anything to correct it. I suspect I’m depleted now because I just never did get caught up. I have literally all of the symptoms. They checked my thyroid, it was normal, so told me it was anxiety. I feel like now I have something I can do!
It's very empowering to get to the root of your symptoms and have a plan of action! Sadly new mothers are rarely checked for low ferritin so it goes unchecked for years. I hope you start getting relief soon!
Thank you Docteur. I have 29ug/L of ferritine. I am very exhausted. I am in sick leave for 2weeks. But, my family doctor told it is not possible you are so exhausted in this level of ferritine
Oh my god i have the same thing!!! My ferritin was 30 in 2022 and now it’s 23!! Both times my doctor says it’s good levels when it’s touching the lower border!!!!
Glad I found you! I did the exact same as your wife! 5 kids within 10 years all C-section my youngest is right now and I’ve been super tired over the past few months! I took some iron the other day and feel a little better! Trying to learn more
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy I had 3 kids in 3 years. Never corrected my Ida. Doctors never checked my levels only hemoglobin. Could this be why my ferritin is low. Youngest is 6
I had a baby last April, then a miscarriage that same July, and I'm due again this june(babies will be 14 months apart) and my iron absolutely doesn't want to go up. I didnt have low iron when pregnant with my 13 year old but with my pregnancy of my 1 year old it was suddenly super low. I had all vaginally births and never tested low prior even eating a vegan diet for years, my periods aren't heavy and nonexistant the last 2ish years as well. I didnt even get periods for 7 years straight so never a bleeding issue. I get iron infusions, take iron pills, take a prenatal with iron, eat more red meat than ever in my life, and the numbers don't budge or stay up. I'm constantly testing between 4-11, he says it should be 125 but I can't imagine it getting that high. I'm super run down all the time, 7 months pregnant so hoping after I have this baby it starts going back up again because I feel like a zombie walking around.
I was afraid of taking too much iron supplements, because I heard too much is bad, but I have more than half of the symptoms you mentioned. Fatigue, hair falling out all over, cold feet, fast heart beat, dizziness, and I gave birth 4 months ago and lost so much blood that I needed multiple transfusions. So probably, I don't need to worry about having too much iron
Sorry you’re suffering with all those symptoms! The dose should be based on your body weight and unless you are taking Heme iron you need to be careful about what you take it with so it actually gets absorbed. Check out the Iron Protocol Facebook group, tons of great info there!
Same here I lose so much blood during my cycle and so wiped out chest pain dizziness you name it. I think I could take an entire bottle and still feel like crap
Hi Dr. AJ, I have most of these symptoms, including major hair loss. So much so I don't like leaving the house... I recently had a blood test. My Ferritin was 59.4 and my Hemoglobin was 11.9 Two doctors that I'm seeing are not concerned, but I had Anemia years back, and I recognize the systems. I purchased the "Three Arrows" Heme Iron. about two months ago, so I'm hoping that it's helping. I pair it with vitamin C, and I take it at least an hour before eating and having coffee in the morning.
@@universe3654 I need to get my levels checked again, but I started taking the Three Arrows Heme iron that Dr. AJ recommended. Taking them in the morning, and waiting an hour or more before having dairy. Also I got these iron supplements that I heard many testimonies about. By Mega Food, called Blood Builders. I just started taking those.
@@tia7765 I recently got tested again, and my ferritin was 80.4 Off the top of my head I forget the hemoglobin level. I think I feel my energy getting better and my hair loss seems to be slowing. I actually haven't been as consistent with the iron for a bit (stomach issues) but I'm getting back into it, not over doing it, but wanting to maintain my levels. It took time, but hang in there!
Do you think the blood builder gave you stomach issues? Just asking because when I was in blood builder I got stomach problems and reflux and had to stop taking them.
Just found your channel. Trying to research this as my wife was recently found to be low in iron and ferritin and these symptoms have been going for 8+ years now.
I hope she’s able to get relief! Improving low iron/ferritin can be game changer. It was for my wife which is why I made this video. Heme iron was what helped.
Thank you so much for this. I’m sometimes borderline anemic, but even when my levels are good I’m still so tired. I’m trying iron and Vitamin C to see if that helps because I have all the symptoms you’ve listed. I also heard low iron levels can affect your thyroid too so I’m hoping this is what’s causing my hypothyroidism. 😬
Hemoglobin dropped to 3.5 already due to heavy period. I was tired all the time.with short of breath. Ended up in E.R had to do a blood transfusion. That was 2.years ago. It's at a 9.5 now. This is me, every one of the 11 symptoms and been struggling for months, got Ferritin results yesterday (15) and a prescription for Ferrous Sulfate, hoping to feel like a new woman soon 🤞🏼
Was it a high enough dosage? My iron was low and so my doctor told me to take 325mg of ferrous sulfate. I'm starting it tomorrow and hoping it helps the fatigue so I can finally jog again. We shall see. I hope you're doing better now.
I literally have every listed symptom and it's exhausting. I've checked my iron last year 2021 and it was at 26. It feels lower this year so I'm looking forward to getting it checked and hoping my iron pills help soon.
I'm glad you're getting it checked! B12 and vitamin D levels can also be a factor. Iron supplementation can definitely help, but not all are created equal. Heme iron is much more easily absorbed and generally causes little to no digestive symptoms. Non-heme iron (which is the most common) is not as well absorbed and is easily blocked by many foods (wheat, dairy, coffee, etc.) Best of luck to you, hope you see improvement in your symptoms soon!
It is so nice to hear a Dr truly understand that ferritin should be 100+ ongoing AND make a video about it, THANK YOU! The UK is much more advanced in ferritin research than the US. The research is in NIH. There is MAJOR work to be done here in the US to 1) correct the lab range of ferritin 2) add it to cbc diff panel 3) educate providers on iron deficiency w/out anemia (ferritin). I've lost 7 years of my life, seen 20 providers, and have been told 'I'm ok" or "my iron is slightly low" - so many women are suffering and losing quality of life due to this. Side note (my story) - i have SIBO and oral iron makes the condition worse....has been a nightmare finding a providers who understands ferritin of 100+ and will put in iv iron. Since 2020, I've had 15 iv iron's, it has been so exhausting to constantly advocate for myself.... we need to do better, together
Thank you so much for this video. Two years ago when I was 18, i was diagnosed with anemia. Even when my haemoglobin level came to normal and doctor told me I'm healthy now, i could feel it that the symptoms were not complete gone. I started exercising recently but in just one week the symptoms of fatigue are back and i was confused that why is it happening.
@@literallymeforreal excercising , especially cardio depletes iron very quickly, I would avoid any cardio running etc for now until iron levels are back to normal. I’m surprised you didn’t mention headaches and migraines.. and especially in the mornings. 80% of people with low iron and anemia complain of headaches.
@ I’m not going to lie.. I had such a bad migraine that day, that I may have not listened as well as I would of without. Don’t need to be so rude. Instead of saying the above, like a tw*t. You could have pointed it out nicely. Good day, tw*at.
Hoping to explain hair loss I had my ferritin checked and was disappointed to learn it was within the normal range at 37 (so not flagged by my doctor). I started taking an iron supplement anyway since it was still on the low side. My excessive shedding stopped almost immediately. It’s frustrating that I had to find out about this on the internet instead of from the multiple doctors I saw.
Yes, hair loss can be a symptom. 37 is still in the "normal" reference range but many find they still have symptoms when it is that low. Getting it in the middle of the range (a little above 100) often helps. Many find heme iron supplements to be more helpful in raising their levels. Best of luck to you!

I’ve have just gotten over having covid and was told not to take iron for a while. I also got my period during having covid and it was the worst period I’ve ever had, super heavy. Now I’m feeling so exhausted achy legs breathless and fast heart which are all the symptoms I’ve had in the past with having iron deficiency but it feels worse this time. Do you know when I can resume my iron supplement?
Sorry to hear about your symptoms worsening! It’s a tricky situation when you’re dealing with COVID and iron deficiency. This a good question for your doctor. I can’t give medical advice but can tell you that once the infection is over, the risks go down. The other issue is your level of inflammation. That can stay elevated for a month or two or even longer. I would think you would be safe after that but again it’s best to check with your doctor. In the mean time hang in there and do your best at lowering inflammation with things like Vit D, C, healthy fats like fish/fish oil, olive oil, low sugar, low processed foods, plenty of water. Hang in there! You’re gonna get through it and get your iron/ferritin levels back up!
I've had Covid 3 times and all 3 times I started my period 🤔 My 3 year old and I are both suffering from low Ferriten levels. Her pediatrician put her on some GROSS liquid medication. Hello doctor. My ferritin is 16 and feel absolutely awful like I'm an 80 year old woman whose dying (I'm 37). My iron is 41. What do you suggest to quickly get my levels up to 100? I have suffered for 4 years not knowing what was wrong and I don't want to suffer another 6 more months taking any random iron pills. I need relief quickly. Thank.yoy!
NOOOOO! You're way to young to feel like an old lady! Heme iron is the most absorbable form of iron and is found in red meat and especially organ meat like liver. Most people don't like liver so I recommend a supplement. Here's the one that I like: amzn.to/3Byv6HU. Getting red meat in your diet and supplementing with liver will help, but you need to be consistent. It can still take a while. Most iron supplements are not heme and are very poorly absorbed and cause a lot of digestive complaints, but heme iron doesn't. Working on gut health is also important. That can be a root cause as to why you are deficient. Hope this helps so you can feel like a lady boss and not a dying 80 year old!
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy Wow! I can't beleive you answered me- thank you sooo much! I appreciate your advice. Is this considered as a low iron deficiency? I hope you answer my question.. thank you sir.
Yes! Low iron deficiency! It’s very possible that this is the cause of at least some of those symptoms. Many will improve from supplementing with iron, including hair regrowing. Generally you want your ferritin to be in the 125 range. Many GPs don’t pay much attention to ferritin.

I’ve been battling iron deficiency since I was in 7th or 8th grade now I’m a sophomore in high school just now figuring out why I’m tired all the time💀
Yes, you can use that type but it may take longer to raise your levels and there are more foods that can block absorption. Ideally take it on an empty stomach to avoid those issues. It also helps to take it with vitamin C.

Everything seems far off and hazy and I don't feel right at all and have severe fatigue I'm wondering if it may be a low ferritin or anemia I should consider might be causing some symptoms i.e fatigue My hair fell out and would shed which is why I got tested, and now I'm wondering if something as subtle as low iron might be related to all this? It's very frustrating not knowing if its related to my symptoms,
You are almost 3x more likely to have POTS if you have ferritin levels below 50 ng/mL. I'm not sure if there is a connection between erythromelalgia and ferritin levels but it would be interesting to see it helped. Magnesium can be helpful for erythromelalgia, just get a form other than magnesium oxide because it is very poorly absorbed. So to answer your question, yes low ferritin can definitely cause fatigue, hairloss, POTS symptoms and many more. Heme iron is much more effective as raising ferritin levels. I've been recommending liver or liver supplements to help because it's a great natural source of heme iron and other vitamins and minerals. Here's one that I like: amzn.to/3Byv6HU Hope this helps!

Hi! I just got blood work done yesterday and reviewed my results. My MCHC is 31.2 and my Ferritin is 98. Is this low? I work out all the time, eat clean and have lost a lot of weight. I am still tired all the time. Can you suggest a good supplement?

@@tia7765 maybe it's a good idea to check in with a doctor. Also, if it's anemia, you should see improvement in about a month with iron supplements. But I think it can take about 3 months to get anemia under control. Hope you feel better soon.
Question. I started using the hemme form of iron. On the bottle it says it is 20 mg. Now, on my old Ferrous Sulfate, I was taking “ 5…..GR “. Is this equivalent to the 20 mg ? Thanks for steering me in the hemme direction !
I had massive weight loss not weight gain. I also sweat ALOT. I’m still working on bringing my levels up. I have an absorption problem from celiac disease.
So sorry to hear you’re struggling to feel well! It is pretty safe to take iron in the short term but it’s best to keep your doctor in the loop and to get some blood work done to make sure you are on the right track and not getting too much. There are also other possible causes for feeling fatigued that blood work can show. Vit D is a big one, also B12. For an iron supplement I recommend this one: Iron Repair: Simoly Heme amzn.to/39mfLiI But I actually prefer beef liver to help raise iron and boost energy because it is more natural, has a great combination of vitamins and nutrients (is a great natural source of B12, vitamin A). Here’s a link: amzn.to/39mfLiI it comes from a great brand, Ancestral Supplements. I wish you the best in getting your energy back!

@angiebaby9981 Do u have dizziness ?
I have these symptoms too but I’m also a Covid long hauler since 7/2021. My ferritin is a 6. I think for me it’s a bit of both.
I just got my labs back today:
ferritin is 5
% saturation is 4
TIBC 440
Iron 19
I just can't believe it.
Same here it's awful . Do you feel dizzy while laying down or sleeping ? How are you treating your anemia?
@@tia7765 Yes the dizziness is a little anxiety provoking when it's happening all the time, sometimes it feels like for no reason. I scheduled an appointment with a hematologist and she was able to start me on iron infusion.
My ferritin was 30, everything else normal. I started Floradix w/ B and C vitamin and 2 weeks later feel normal again. Felt better after first dose.

I didnt have low iron when pregnant with my 13 year old but with my pregnancy of my 1 year old it was suddenly super low. I had all vaginally births and never tested low prior even eating a vegan diet for years, my periods aren't heavy and nonexistant the last 2ish years as well. Sorry you’re suffering with all those symptoms! The dose should be based on your body weight and unless you are taking Heme iron you need to be careful about what you take it with so it actually gets absorbed. Check out the Iron Protocol Facebook group, tons of great info there!
Too much Iron taken without vitamin c so your body absorb it better can make you constipated. Drinking plenty fluid helps.too.

Can low ferritin cause unsteadiness when walking? Or coordination issues? My ferritin is 14.
Dude at 14 you can feel like crap, you’ll have all the physical issues and frequent injuries too. Start supplementing and stop donating blood if you are. I have dealt with that shit for 6 months.

@@Skybluewindcool Yes. I am much much better today. I just focused on proper iron supplementation and my diet and I am nearly a different person today.
Hello, what is the dosage you recommend to get it up?
What would be your thoughts if someone had numbers like this?
Ferritin: 26
Iron: 121
TIBC: 387
Saturation: 31 %
Disclaimer: I'm not your doctor, so I do recommend working with our doctor on this. Your levels are all within the "normal" range. Including your ferritin, but many do have symptoms with being on the lower end of the ferritin range. If you have symptoms, raising your ferritin levels can be very helpful.
My doctor is rechecking my levels in 4 weeks and said I might have to infusion. I am exhausted and so dizzy. I feel like I'm constantly going to fall at work 😭
I got mild iron anemia from a bleeding hemorrhoid (how unlucky is that!) I had surgery a year ago but since then another one has reared it's ugly head and ive been getting the tell tale signs (whitish fingernails and pins and needles in hands). Getting a blood test soon and seeing the doctor. Dont ignore iron anemia as it can become more severe down the line.
Thanks for sharing your experience, sorry you've gone through it. Ignoring it definitely doesn't help.
No problem. Amazingly my full blood count test came back as normal but my local doctor has still referred me back to the day surgery to discuss with the surgeon what procedure i should get this time, as im still losing regular blood from my hemhorroids.
I have taken an iron supplement called Emicrit since last week and call me crazy but I do sense my blood is being circulated in my body an I'm getting more energy. More than before, anyways. I have a long road ahead of me. I've also been eating liver each day (I do like liver but rarely eat it, not sure why) and supplementing with B12, ashwaghanda and other vitamins and blackstrap mollases. I've also stopped coffee with taking my supplents. I live in Cyprus as an expat (Mediterranean) and I could not find heme iron. The ancestral brand does not ship to Cyprus from the US either. The pharmacy is so limited here. I even checked Amazon in Germany and they don't carry or ship beef liver supplements to Cyprus. SOLGAR and NOW brands (in Cyprus) carry Beef liver pills. Is that the same as the ancestral brand? Thank you massively! 🙏 P.s I can't believe I thought having white/pale lips all these years was just genetics!? Goodness gracious! 😔
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy It seems I have acceptable gut health. I do feel better after taking vitamins so that tells me I'm absorbing just fine. I have always had heavy menstruation but was told it was "normal" and nothing to worry about.
Sounds like you're off to a great start! Heavy menstruation is definitely problematic from an iron standpoint. Interestingly, some find they have lighter cycles once they get their ferritin levels up. I love that you are eating liver! I like the ancestral brand but those others will be great too. Another heme iron supplement that I like is Iron Repair: Simply Heme by three arrows. Not sure if it's available where you are, but it's also a goody. The liver you are eating is probably better than anything else.

Fantastic! Thank you
What iron supplement do you suggest? Mine is 16 and I’m 68. I had a high hemocrit and hemoglobin and was going to fine blood because of this. I had. Check at donation clinic and mine was 16.
Im a 40 year old male that has been donating blood for yeeeeears. Just recently discovered my ferritin is 25. The blood donation centers test hemoglobin before people donate. They call this iron, and it is not. I have high Nirmal hemoglobin
Hemoglobin is an important measurement but it doesn’t tell the whole story. I’m glad you got your ferritin checked!

Last july i started noticing hair shedding like crazy, restless leg syndrome, fatigue, dizziness when i stand up, anxious .. i checked my blood levels, my GP said all is good, but the symptoms are still exist, my hair couldn't be back to it's normal fall, my ferritin level is 52 and my GP didn't mention anything !!

I dont have heme iron supplements available in my country can i take ferric ammonium citrate in liquid like as in feroglobin?
Yes, you can use that type but it may take longer to raise your levels and there are more foods that can block absorption. Ideally take it on an empty stomach to avoid those issues. It also helps to take it with vitamin C.
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy I have heme iron available but in low doses like 12.5 mg and other forms available are ferrous bisglycinate, iron hydroxide polymaltose and ferrous fumarate.
Hi doctor thank you so much for this!!!
I have all the symptoms you mentioned, and my iron, b12 and folate is normal. My ferritin is 57 and my hemoglobin is 14 which is normal.
What is the treatment for these symptoms? Which doctor should I go to?
A lot of doctors really aren’t concerned about ferritin so it’s hard to recommend one that will take it seriously. I recommend a Heme iron supplement (simply Heme by three arrows is my favorite). Follow their dosing recommendations which is based on body weight. Then continue to have your ferritin levels checked every few months if possible. I also recommend joining the Iron Protocol Facebook group. You’ll get TONS more info there. Hope that helps!

Glad it was helpful! Many find their symptoms reduce or go away when ferritin goes up. Just keep an eye on your blood work with your doctor. Heme iron is most effective. I actually really like liver supplements to help raise levels. I wish you the best!
Am also at 50, how did you feel after taking iron?
Hi, same here, Did you manage to improve it?
My ferritin has never been higher than 12 in the few years I’ve been getting blood work done. I feel like garbage all the time
Your wife was lucky to have you! I have low iron, how long that it take to reach normal range?
I have erythromylalgia for 18 years ( not had tests provided yet as to why)
And severe POTS symptoms.
I'm wondering if anemia cause either of these. I suffered bouts of anemia since these conditions began
I got tested and my ferritin is 9. I never thought I had a low ferritin before or worried about iron levels.
I have temporary iron anemia but I used to bounce back after about 10 days.
My symptoms have worsened, my cognition is affected & confusion Is constant and the fatigue is persistent and I can't function. Everything seems far off and hazy and I don't feel right at all and have severe fatigue
I'm wondering if it may be a low ferritin or anemia I should consider might be causing some symptoms i.e fatigue
My hair fell out and would shed which is why I got tested, and now I'm wondering if something as subtle as low iron might be related to all this?
Here's one that I like: amzn.to/3Byv6HU
Hope this helps!

Kind of you to say that! Thank you!
I'm feeling so bad fatigue and headache no energy so should I just get iron tablets? I am having depression also
So sorry to hear you’re struggling to feel well! It is pretty safe to take iron in the short term but it’s best to keep your doctor in the loop and to get some blood work done to make sure you are on the right track and not getting too much. There are also other possible causes for feeling fatigued that blood work can show. Vit D is a big one, also B12. For an iron supplement I recommend this one: Iron Repair: Simoly Heme amzn.to/39mfLiI
But I actually prefer beef liver to help raise iron and boost energy because it is more natural, has a great combination of vitamins and nutrients (is a great natural source of B12, vitamin A). Here’s a link: amzn.to/39mfLiI it comes from a great brand, Ancestral Supplements.
I wish you the best in getting your energy back!

Red meat, liver and supplements are a few options. Eating iron rich foods. I recommend heme iron supplements, they tend to be more effective.
My regular arm came up but my ferritin was at 5:00 and 8:00 how is it go I received infusions they just upped my infusion from a lower dose of iron to a higher dose and my ferritin levels were still low along with my hemoglobin levels
Doctor, is it possible that anemia and iron defficiency cause los body Wright?
Can low iron also increase your blood pressure. I heard this is so because it makes your heart work harder to get oxygen throughout your body.
How are u now and your high bp ?
