When I think of people who have their own voice in photography, you are absolutely one of those people. I am always excited to see your new work in a way that doesn’t really happen for me with other photographers. You’re not talking about gear for gear sake, you legitimately show how it enables you to accomplish your goals; that’s what gear is actually for.
This is so sweet. Thank you so so much, Stuart!
Man, your recent studio work is something else! And that black and white double exposure was just ace. Love seeing someone put some real creativity in their photography :)
thank you so much!! haven't shared that one anywhere else yet. wanted to share it with y'all first. thank you for being here!
I love how you are developing your unique artistic voice - with the use of colours and double exposures in the studio. This is a hard thing to achieve
thank you so much!! appreciate the kind words, for real.
It's very cool that you are using instant photography the same way it was used before the digital era by commercial photographers! Fantastic shots, loved the shots at the end of the video!
yes exactly! it's such a practical use case and the images i've been able to make have been so special. so cool to immediately have a print of my work too. thank you for watching!
Love the colors. Thank you for always showing great energy. Truly love watching your videos!
thank you coach!
I love Mamiya. Both the RB & the RZ. I have a Pentax 67 too, and I think it's cool, but those Mamiya cameras with their close focusing and all the different lenses, the tilt shift adapter, the different size backs, peel apart backs... it's just, there's nothing else like them in film cameras. They are truly, truly special.
Nothing like em fr!
Dude, that last double exposure at 7:05 is breathtaking! Thank you for sharing your experience with all this cool gear, loved seeing the instant photos too!
I love my Pentax 67 for outdoor portraits and RB67 for indoor. I need that instax back for the RB67, wish Fuji would just make a pull apart instant film again. Every time you post a new shoot, I get inspired to create something.
love them both for both but agreed! and i wsh they would bring peel apart back too :(
You really should get a Baby Graflex for your sort of work. It's smaller and lighter than either the Pentax or Mamiya, you can shoot 6x9, 6x8, 6x7, 6x6 and you have a virtually unlimited number of lenses to choose from.
I assume it's the "Graflex Speed Graphic Baby 2" i'm seeing online - right? May have to grab one and try it out, however I don't *love* rangefinders for studio work esp since i'm so focused on perfect symmetry. Looks so sick though, thank you!
When I was in college, pack film was still abundant. It became a natural part of my workflow with my RB so when it went away it really threw me off. I'm glad people are coming up with more options for this!
yes!! instant film revival, even if it's not packfilm
You've got a great experimental style when it comes to your photography and it makes it feel so brand new and unique. I'm always shocked your channel isn't bigger whenever you pop up in my feed!
thank you for watching! slowing growing here every day :)
It’s been a while since I’ve watched such an inspiring video. Truly outstanding work.
thank you so much for watching man! such kind words, thank you.
i have an rz67 and it's soo damn clear when looking through the focus screen.
it's sooooo nice
My biggest inspiration lately has come from your work and videos. It’s a pleasure to watch every single time🫶🏽
thank you so much for being here, jay!!
man i love this channel
thank you so much for being here roger!
Nice to be able to afford those toys. I would like to see you do all this type of double exposures schooting outdoors.
I did 1 or 2 doubles outdoors in my video about the EOS 1N, but not a devoted video!
with the Mamiya like you did with the instax of this same schoot. Not sure why you didn't.
Beautiful work!🎉 I recently got one of these but more for landscape!
been meaning to try mine for landscape here soon as well!
you should try a hasselblad, i know you’d love square format and would make some amazing photos with one
used to have a 500c! need to borrow one for something to play with
Mannn... Your studio work is insane. I like your process. I would love to see some typical day in the studios and more about how to replicate your style.
thank you so much!! will do
most of these photos are amazing! this is an inspiration
thank you so much!
Fell in love with the RB after seeing the great Vuhlandes use it and he’s the reason I bought one. Such a great camera.
Outstanding work, even forgot that the video was about RB67 :) every time you show your portraits it draws you in and I forget everything :) so so good!
New fav photography channel
thank you for being here and watching!
Thanks for sharing your great images with us.
thank you for watching!
I know this might sound a little nitpicky, but I hope it actually comes across as helpful because that is all I'm intending. "Stopping down" refers to choosing a smaller aperture (higher number). It's the opposite of "opening up" which means to choose a wider aperture (smaller number). I know its unintuitive because bigger aperture means smaller numbers.
Anyway, this is so cool! I wish I could shoot Instax or Polaroid with a camera like this. The limited lenses on the Instax/Polaroid cameras are just not interesting.
not nitpicky at all!! every single one of my videos there's something I say where I switch the phrasing, and that was the case with this one. thank you for the correction and thanks for watching!
What a bold claim, a new current favorite camera from Linus?? Today's a big day! Here for the RB67 love!!
Haha I know, crazy of me!
Great images bro!!
Thanks John!!
These images are amazing brother!!
thank you so much!!
The Mamiya RB67 is such a great camera
right!
THIS IS THE SHIT, VERY INSPIRING, i love the yapping it really shows how beautiful of a camera this is
Amazing video 😍 When you say you pushed the bwxx 2 stops....Is that in camera or in development?
In development! I rated it at 1600 when shooting it, and pushed it 2 stops in development!
@@linusandhiscamera amazing! thank you so much!
Hey bro, you got so much energy, thank you for sharing
thank you for being here!
Found this video exceptionally inspiring and calming - Thank you 🤜🤛📸
thank you for being here!
Using Instax for test shoots is such a killer idea. I’m going to buy one for my RZ.
Great vid mate! Def got me wanting an instax
Tap in king
Another great video! I’m going to be in Raleigh soon what camera store would you recommend?
Both Peace Camera and Southeastern camera are dope and are also quite close to eachother, tap in!
Bro wtf is this madness shot at 9:36 😮😮😮😮😮. Crazy shot!
This was the camera I was considering before I took on the Mamiya 645j, kinda wish I didn't as the price was pretty similar back then and now I've seen a shift though I am so happy with my choice but do want to change to an RB at some stage for the swappable back
Did you manage to start using the S2A?
still waiting to get it CLA’d 😭
Are there any instax back for the S2/A ? Love shooting on my S2 and always wanted to do instax square on it.
amazing man, I've been learning a lot from you, I plan on getting an RZ67 next month. I wish I could get a 101 lesson from you
thank you for being here!! enjoy the RZ
great to see you so stoked on your process and results in this video because your pics are sooo good!
When you say you pushed Cinestill XX two stops, what was the base you were starting from before pushing, 250 ISO? And what ISO did you rate it at for metering?
Testing shots is why peel apart backs even exist for these cameras! Tried and true workflow that just WORKS. I’m glad there’s a modern equivalent through instax. Great work
maybe back in the 70's and 80's, but not any more. its just super dumb to be using instant peel apart film for testing shots now. its super expensive, and it will never give you a accurate example of what your final image will look like on the film. Ever since the early 90's we have been using digital backs and digital cameras to get our test shots to ensure that all our settings are correct in studio. its industry standard, and has been since the 90's. peel aparts never really worked well for it, its just the best thing that we had before digital came around.
lol @ the guy who replied to you. obvilusly you weren't referring to nowadays, anyway, it's so nice to have a instant previz of what you're shooting and it's nice that its a $1/shot with instax.
Cannot be a RB67 rev. if you did not mention the biceps you get when taking it off the tripod and shooting with it hahaha. But have definitely noticed this camera opens lot of creative freedom for you and how your brain thinks about these studio images. Great work!
hahahaha i've been using big medium format cameras for so long that their weight is never something that comes to mind. love this camera, and thank you so much!
Man i miss having an RB67, might consider picking one up again since the prices seem to be dropping.
Its the best camera for studio work amyway, which is a match made in heaven for you
exactly!!
RB67 is definitely a bit underrated, probably just because of its size and weight haha. But man, does it make some fine images. Good stuff man!
thank you man! i agree!
Very beautiful. Lenses you use ?
one of your best vids.
means a lot bc i was sure this video was mid lmfaoooo
that double expsure shot is lit🔥🔥🔥
You're a legend
my dawg tysm
Mamamiya! Always upping the double exposure game 💯💯
my dawgggg
Killer work!
Linus the double exposure god!🔥🔥🔥
my dawg
thats super amazing mate.
thanks man!
There's a whole plethora of leneses that you can use on the Pentax 67 just by adapting them. Several large format lenses (including the legendary Kodak Aero Ektar), other medium format camera lenses (many Contax 645, Kiev 60/80, Hasselblad ones) and a whole slew of cinema projection lenses that go way beyond the f/2.4 that the OEM lenses for Pentax go. As much as I loved the Mamiya RZ67, it had really a crap lens selection (at least for the style I like to shoot).
Pick up the 90mm leaf shutter lens! All the doubles on a 67 you could want!
Linus, how would you compare the IQ from the P67 lenses vs the mamiya lenses? I tend to notice a kind of softer/glowy/tilt shit like/pastel-ly look to the RB lenses when compared to the P67 ones
Another banger of a video
thank you sm!
Your work is very very good 👏👏👏
thank you john!
This camera is magnificent! Love your portrait work man! The creativity with the projector is top notch! BTW, please don't call the cops about that joint in my new video, I promise it was all special effects. Subbed!
hey linus!! i love your channel and the work you’ve created with the mamiya!! is there a major difference between the rb67 and rb67 pro you’ve noticed? i want to invest in one but have no idea which is better!!
not much tbh. the pro SD is so much newer, since it's from the 90s, so it definitely looks less used and feels like it too, but in regards to actually using the camera, nothing has changed nor is it different enough for me to recommend you HAVE to get the pro SD over other models
Finally a new Pro SD video! I`m a bit tired rewatching Kyle McDougall`s review 😂😂
Is there any reason you didn't just get a the #1 extension tube for the Pentax so you could easily focus closer? Yes you would loose a bit of light(.6 of a stop) but thats about it.
game changing shii
exactly!
I have a question. I have the 105, 55 and 75 all SMC pentax. For some reason, with the 105 and the 75, when I stop down the aperture in manual mode, it also stops down the lens. So if my lens is at 22, I can't even see what I'm trying to get in focus because it's too dark. The only lens that doesn't stop down is the 55 - I can see a bright screen at all apertures. Do you know why this happens to the 105 and 75 but not the 55? or why this is happening at all? its super annoying.
Linus to the film he just exposed: STAND HIM BACK UP, I'M NOT DONE WITH HIM YET 😡😤🤜
LMFAO
Special camera, yes but you're a special photographer, that's the real deal breaker
very kind of you. thank you
TRAITOR. Lol jk we stan the studio work. It's awesome seeing your work and your process. I've learned so much from watching you. The fact that Pentax only made 800 bodies with the ability to shoot double exposure on the 67 is nutty.
Bro that upside down multi exposure is sick. I don't do portraiture but if I did I'd aspire to make such thoughtful shots like that 🔥
give it a go sometime!
@@linusandhiscamera I will if I ever make it out of landscape hell
@@no.7893 😂😂😂
Thank you for posting this, I’ve been trying to sell mine lol
How much also what conditions? 😂
Stop saying it’s your favorite.. I’m still saving up to buy one😢
Well I guess I'm the lucky one now hmm?
All my medium format cameras are so shitty that they don't even advance the film themselves, so double exposures are something I have to actively *avoid* because I need to remember to forward manually before the next shot. Poor wins again.
LOL man i'm sorry to hear this. hoping you have better luck, asap.
@@linusandhiscamera HAHAHA no i didnt mean they are broken, just manual like a cheap ricohflex and agfa folders
Right 👇🏽 now 👇🏽
😂😂
He says he won’t buy a Pentax 67II because it’s too expensive. He trying to tell us he doesn’t have the money for it. Yea ok. Clearly killing it in photography, and Pentax 67II can be bought for like 2k or less. Come on bro
i’m not spending $1500-2000 on a film camera when i already have one that does everything i need bro lmfao it is too expensive for ME personally
