  • To sing well, you need to breathe well. Most people- beginners and professional singers- agree on this point. However, how to do it? That is the question…
Follow along in our 30 day series on Breath Support to take your breathing and support to the next level!

Today, we observe the ability to separate sensation of the mid abdominal section from the lower abdominal section. This will become crucial to our support, so we need to learn to correctly body-map this part of our body, and not just lump all the abdominals into one group. Think of a belly dancer… we are learning to isolate and move this part of the body! Stay tuned tomorrow for Day 4!

    Thank you! SUPER helpful!
I just started with my singing lessons and even though my teacher told me the motion should be felt down there, I could understand the whole concept much better thanks to your help 😊 greatly appreciated!

can you tell me why female pop singers mouth breathe out on hand mic after phrase then move mic away to breathe in but bring mic back too soon and you hear them breathe in before singing.
also why do some pop singers start out not hearing breathing but later on they are mouth breathing out in on mic?

I don't know the "why" to that question, and I am not a pop-voice teacher. However, often these performers are running around, dancing while singing, and this can cause the respiratory system to be taxed- like after a hard workout. Sometimes it can be difficult to maintain correct, relaxed breathing with all the movement on stage. Each case is different, and can't be lumped into one reason.
